So many stump pulling vids out there, common theme; no thought for the drivers safety. No dampening blanket over the chain for one. A stump like that can come out of the gruond with just a come along and a 4 pulley block and tackle set up. " think before u hookup!"
True but a lot of people don't know how to pull with a chain. Don't pull hard until the chain is tight ,don't jerk or get a running start. My opinion is that a chain is safer than a cable, chains usually don't whip just each link reduces the whip however a cable will whip and go until it hits something that stops it. If I pull hard on something I lay a heavy blanket or tarp over the chain to force it down if it snaps. I cut a small notch in the back side of the stump to keep the chain from jumping off.
