That's what I'm thinking, people were saying Coyote has been overreacting constantly just for the videos. I kinda figured he was after seeing others do the same stuff, but, eh, he just handles bites/stings differently.
Some people freak out about a needle at the doctor and they think that's painful. To me it's nothing, but sciatica had me stuck in bed. That's pain, to me. A torn rotator cuff wasn't much fun either.
Yes, Mark was the Producer back then, and yes, it was his job as the camera man and producer to make sure that they got everything they agreed before hand to get on camera and helped coyote to remember doing stuff he said he would do through his pain. It is easy to forget to do stuff when you have fire in your arm or wrestle a turtle or tiger.
Don't listen to those who say it hides the sting videos. The ones who have watched your channel for years can tell that you guys are really in pain (and I'm worried as a paramedic), and the shots and editing, it's called having a good cameraman and editor! Thanks to you, I know if I visit Costa Rica, I have an idea of what to be aware of if I see it and just back off a little and take a slightly different route. Please be safe guys, don't fall for the deniers saying "it's made up!" when the only evidence I need is the bite zone and the pain in your faces.
You are the only channel that I like their videos even before starting them and check a couple of times while watching to see if I hit the like button or not... Anyone talking negatively about you , DEFINITELY is looking for some attention or want to be famous by bad mouthing Brave Wilderness. You have been the best and I'm sure you'll continue to keep being the best!
I love how you are redoing the index with more factors. Thank you for putting your body on the line for all of us. I like seeing the reactions from each sting and bite, but I'm more interested in the body reaction to each one
I’m a retired RN that worked a lot of time in an ER. The difference in pain tolerance is extremely varied., with women having the highest. I just think Coyote has a lower tolerance than Mark, just my opinion but I don’t think Coyote is acting. He really has become deathly pale during some bites.
False. Women have a lower pain tolerance and threshold than men, statistically around 10% less. You must have retired before the research was conducted. It makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint as in humans women were excluded from hunting. Men seem to produce more beta endorphins which inhibit their perception of pain.
So… either Mark has a much higher pain tolerance than Coyote, Coyote pain tolerance being very bad, or that Coyote was purely acting during those whole stinging days. I’ve watched another RU-vidr “exposed” Coyote’s dramatic reaction, but most of time I put a possibility that specific RU-vidr just had incredible high pain tolerance, but now Coyote seems very weak in comparison to all these guys getting stung.
You can actually see that mark is in serious pain but is still able to work besides that, The way the body reacts to pain is more reliable than the person reacting and it's clear by the swelling, spots and skin colour change. There are some things acting can't do
Short point of criticism in regards to the categories of your Bite/sting index, as you guys seem intend on making a worthwhile index which adds to the original. I would suggest you remove the "intimidation" category since most people aren't as knowledgeable on the severity of different insects bite/stings, a suggestion for an alternative category might be swelling, since it 's far more objective and measurable to a certain degree. :) Anyway great vid, and thanks for the clarity on your filming/editorial process.
Yeah... I feel like the intimidation greatly adds to the averaging out factor. I think it'd make more sense to have three rates based on: initial sting, 30 minutes to an 1 hr after sting, and then aftermath - all time after the first hour. Have the catch, sting, and 30 minutes to an 1 hour uncut on a second channel. The aftermath would instead show timestamps, so-to-speak, after the first hour. 4 hr mark, 5 hr mark, etc, make sure there is an 8 hr period where they don't check on the sting to also show how well it heals during sleep, or if sleep is difficult. This isn't me questioning the validity of their claims either, I just think it'd be way more information that may be crucial for people who may be stung. It'd be actually great to show the progression of the sting, as someone can use it as a check up on themselves. Not every body reacts the same, so there would be give and take, but if there is an extreme difference, then medical care may be necessary.
I love Brave Wilderness! I've been following your adventures since the time you started the channel and you never fail to disappoint! Thank you for educating the people around the world and doing this for us!
6:31 Wow, thanks for casually dropping the fact that the original bullet ant video was 8 YEARS AGO and making me feel so much older than I should in the proccess, really appreciate the exestential crisis! 💀
That's right, mark u tell em! I feel like this video was made to shut a particularly youtuber up who keeps saying that brave wilderness fakes their reactions 😅
i don´t remember on what show i´ve seen it on, but there is a tribe where young boys have to put on some kind of homemade glove filled with bullet-ants, and have to keep them on for some time to prove they are becomming men.
Yeah those people are absolute badasses. I know they are forced to do it as a part of their culture but still, if they do it.. That's insane. I have always wondered if brave wilderness would check it out? If not them doing it, seeing someone else go through it?
you guys need to look for the clip of Hamish Blake - an aussie comedian - doing it. look for 'hamish andy bullet ants'. they are literally gloves with hundreds of ants woven in to hold them against your hands. spoiler alert: hamish does *not* have a good time ;)
Are we ignoring Coyote's research here though Because it simply seems like his sfuff is being redone and rehashed and I'm just curious I mean no hate towards Mark and I really enjoy the content he's been making as of late, im just wondering about the comparisons between Marks and Coyotes videos and how the rankings correlate, and if the rankings will be collaborative between a shared experience between the two or if these rankings will be Mark's experience alone. Im editing this because I just feel like some people are misinterpreting my comment and taking it as hate.
@vyvianalcott1681 youre right about that, and I agree. But I would assume that in creating this study, they would at least mention or compare the reactions between the two of them, but I didn't even hear coyote's sting get mentioned once. In order for your point to be correct in this case, mt point stands that they would have to acknowledge and compare coyotes' results
it was literally mentioned in the first minute man. and again at 6:30. I'll keep adding on timestamps whenever they mention it to help you out little buddy.@@thepoeticminecart 7:02

It also matters where you get stung. Different parts of the body have more nerve endings like getting stung on the tips of your fingers will hurt a lot more than getting stung on your forearm.
I’m a veteran watcher to your channel. Everything you’ve done looks authentic and you are also providing some production quality that adds to the overall experience. Thank you for educating us and your true fans will always stand with you wherever you decide to go.
I’m so excited you’re redoing the sting index!! I thought last time coyote should make his own sting pain index!! Also I loved this style of video. I never doubted your videos were real, but I’d love more uncut content like this
YAAAY, MARK!🐜👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I'm excited about the new BSI. My fave over the years thus far on the BW Channel has been the Executioner Wasp. Will you be re-documenting that one in the future?💖
To those few complainers, "If you don't like it, do it yourself." To everyone else "What's up. Glad I'm here and able to learn though pain is not my favorite education is good." Love the video.
If I may suggest, either drop the decimal and tenth of a point to keep it an index of 10, or make it an index out of 100. Thank you for starting the new sting pain index. I agree that it's superior. Thank you for re-taking one from the bullet ant!
I lived in Costa Rica for 9 years and I'm pretty happy that I managed to avoid bullet ants. I'm surprised that same spot hasn't grown back, obviously someone is cutting or poisoning it to keep the jungle from taking over. It happens pretty quickly there.
This was a good idea! The way you explained everything was perfect. I'm definitely watching the other video. That sting is definitely painful, this didn't surprise me! Do not listen to the haters.
You guys snuck coyotes original ant sting scream into the music that’s awesome good thinking to your editor love the vids I’ve literally grown up with this channel
Something else I would consider for the pain index is the duration. Since that can also be a major factor in how bad a bite is, is just how long it lasts with its pain.
I don't understand that bite / sting index. If you're using one decimal then it's equivalent to scoring out of 100. It can already be somewhat difficult to differentiate, for instance, between a 7 and an 8 - but differentiating between a 7.7 and a 7.8 in one of the 3 parameters is going to be impossible, and the scores are going to be unreliable. You can just stick with the 3 parameters, let them be whole numbers, and add them together, so 30 is the highest score. Then you should have multiple people experience and vote on the bites / stings, and use the average or median score as the final score.
People are forgetting this dude has gotten stung by a Bullet Ant before so he knows what to expect. That greatly influences how he reacts to it. I think it was Coyote’s first time time. Plus everyone reacts different to the venom and different pain tolerances come into play
It probably wasn't one, maybe the trap-jaw ant? Or maybe it's one I've seen recently and I live in a place where the bullet ant lives but I'm not in the rainforest and it looked just like a bullet ant but it obviously wasn't
I respect how you can get that crap stung out of you while holding the insect, yet still not squeeze and kill it while in tremendous pain. Hats off to you sir!
There’s no way to quantify 1 encounter to another with these types of experiments, but that aside, the name given to that species - Bullet Ant, is overall befitting.
I loved the not cut theme of the video so much and honestly think it’s much better, gives me a vibe I got from one of those old animal/nature videos, like Steve Irwin’s (rip)
I feel like 9.9 for aftermath is a really high watermark. According to Coyote, there are much worst aftermaths, so not sure where the index is going to go from here, unless maybe if scores will get adjusted later on?
Actually if you want to be even more complete with the index you need to get stung by a worker, major, super major and queen to know exactly how it feels...
I have been watching your videos From 2020 to 2021 but now I will start watching your videos once again because they are one of the most entertaining videos I’ve ever seen in all my fav RU-vid channels
