This is C-47A 42-100882. Built in late 1943, just short of 80 years old now. A true D-Day veteran of USAAF, sold to the RAF later in the war and to the RCAF after the war. Privately owned since the 1960s with various owners in Canada and the USA. Today it's repainted in it's D-Day colors, registered N473DC.
Well....the actual SF for the 3 is 10 deg flap and hold a 3 pt attitude....he would have been off in half the runway! Done it many times....You never raise the tail in a SF...due to the fact the elevator is so large it acts as a flap and creates a lot of induce drag....Have fun!
