This is another example of another home just sitting there rotting for no reason...just like that beautiful home/property of Pierre Berton's on one of your prior videos... What a waste!!! There is no doubt that Pierre's spirit is unsettled and heart-broken for not understanding why his wishes were not granted!! His final wish should be honored after all, his ashes are spread upon his property there. His property could even have been turned into a museum with his books etc. on display to honor this clever man's hard -earned legacy. WHAT A SHAME!!! Lastly, I simply adored " The Pierre Berton Show"!!!
How on earth did they sleep 16 children in that home? Crazy! And I agree what a shame that the house was taken from them and they never did anything with it anyway.
The older ones grow up and leave home as the younger ones come up, so they don't have all sixteen at home at once. Plus multiple people would sleep per bed, not just one or two.
Bunk beds. Four kids in each room only needs two bunkbeds. And if they were like my grandma's house, each bunk bed had a trundle bed under it bringing the room tally to six each. That's conservative as we had three bunkbeds with trundles in one room that was 12x12. That's nine per room. Only our grandparents and parents had their own room. Four bedrooms was enough for us twelve kids, parents and grandparents. The little kids could even sleep two to a bed as we knew other families that had larger numbers did. As you got older, you got more room. Or you made a place for yourself in a barn or outbuilding. Many people still live like this today in Europe and the U.S. alike. Not everyone is privileged, even in 2023. Count yourself lucky or unlucky depending on how you see it.
Tia a shame it couldn’t be lovingly restored. Nice old features. Must have had really thick walls in places. If only walls could talk what stories they would have to tell. A big part of me feels it is always better to restore than destroy and lose the history but with so much mold and roof damage it would be tough to do. Thanks for sharing this interesting old place!
2:54 Like my Mother always used to say, "Merry Christmas damn it!" Thanks for the tour Noah! 🤠👍 FYI, wet electricity is very rarely a fire hazard, that's a Hollywood thing, shock hazard, absolutely.
The way to the basement only from the outside of the house it’s very interesting indeed, I never see it before , love the thick doorframe and the stone fireplace, sadly I don’t see much of historical in this house because of the renovation they work on it , thank you for sharing very interesting indeed
now you think being a heritage home the Government of Canada would have the electricity off but the home it's self is would have put another roof over another families head with the way homeless is going it be a nice home for someone to live in
I would be worried about Lead and other toxins in this house. My goodness, this previous owner had 16 kids between himself and his 2 wives, he was very busy.
The room off of the living room with the wallpapered shelves was probably a dining room. That built in cupboard was for dishes. And that weird cabinet off of the bathroom was probably for bath towels and linens. Other than the blue bedroom, their color scheme sucked. That yellow closet was kind of blinding. lol
