Since 2015 we have witnessed what the lack of a legal vetting system has wrought for the American people. Every candidate should be required, at a minimum, to pass a governmental security clearance, release 10 years of taxes and pass a civics test PRIOR to declaring their candidacy. That a lone would have prevented the current vile crop of Republicans such as Trump, Boebert, Santos, Gaetz, Greene, et al. This should be made mandatory.
Gaetz would have made it but later to be criticized for his association with underaged girls. Parents in his district would make sure not to bring their teenaged daughters to his speeches. After 6 weeks in Florida you cannot terminate a pregnancy.

It was a great use of the NABJ convention to have Trump visit. He was horrible while the journalists on the stage with him were professional and just really good at their job. They continued to ask him questions, not letting him off the hook, while maintaining their composure. The journalists were very impressive.
It was apparent he didn't know what he was being asked, had no clue how to answer, and behaved like a past century blowhard. What Repubs use for brains, I don't know.

I actually commented yesterday that I was surprised that we thought there might be a different outcome to this joint interview. I thought we're all wasting our time and energy when we know who he is. After a long night of sleeplessness, I agree with everyone on your panel: these ladies pressed for answers, didn't give up, stood their ground and, in the end, did the best job I've witnessed in showing the real trump. Refusing to let him slide and holding their ground was impressive and smart. Thank you, NABJ, for being on your/our game.

Yesterday there was an elderly white couple at a table across from us at lunch who I'm going to assume were Trump supporters. The husband seemed like a relatively ok person, but his wife criticized him constantly. She even got mad that he had a Southern accent because it made them look stupid and she didn't like that everyone thought they were stupid. (Her exact words). Mind you, she also spoke with an accent, but was trying so hard not to show it. It just made her sound weird and constipated. She was the angriest old lady I've ever seen. This is who we are dealing with. This is who we have to fight with at the ballot box.

Harris's best strategy, I think, is to not engage with that crap - just brush it off with, "It's Trump - what do you expect?" and keep talking about the issues. When you're the only candidate offering solutions, you're very likely to win.
