What a lovely walk to an ever better loch. You are so fortunate to live in Ayrshire, and you promote the area so well. It's a great fishing outing yet again. Thank you.

I must admit that I like your Loch Doon videos best of all. Your footage is superb. I think I'd be happy if it was my home water. The wee bays, rocky points and scattered boulders remind me of Loch Laidon a wee bit. That loch throws up perch as well, sometimes big ones. I quite like catching them, even though I'm out after trout.

Excellent Davie and not to mention beautiful Scotland , but my dad taught me once a long time ago that when ever you are walking with a rod no matter how long a rod always always carry it with the point behind you as if you hit a branch ,twig,small hill ,fence ,hedge you will snap that tip in a heart beat ,I never have or never will carry a rod like you where carrying one

David - I love the videos - and they are full of information - but being not from Scotland i do find simetimes it is difficult to hear the names of the fly setup... in your summary, as in your tying viseos - could you... point fly ---name and whether wet or indicator dry.. 1st drooper --- name 2nd dropper -- name thanks a ton.. loch's from where I am - we call Lakes and I tend to use a very long dropper with a dry on top and often find it doesnt matter what it is - just that it floats - especially when i am not paying attention or giving attention to what may or may not be hatching --- i have used your all rounder with success on #10's and landed pretty big "bass" and many a perchy type on droppers... thanks again - a fan :)

Beautiful scenery! Great video! I tried to get a 10’ Cadence fly rod but they don’t ship to Canada. I’m disabled now & can only fish seated on shore at a fishery or from a boat… I think the extra foot would help with my back cast! Anyway too bad that they don’t ship abroad 😢

Are there no Adders there Davie. I fished a local reservoir once that had loads round it and on the dam wall.

Look forward to every fishing trip Davie. You pull your flies relatively quick, do you ever try them static?

Thank you for showing us a day of loch fishing. I noticed that your line was shooting out quite well. What sort of line were you using? You mentioned that the rod was a 10 foot 5 weight, which would seem great for that sort of fishing. Here in the Northeast US, we have lakes and ponds with trout and landlocked salmon, but in most of them you need to fish from a boat because trees come down to the water and most of the lakes and ponds drop off to water too deep to wade quite close to shore.

is that open to every one to fish
@DavieMcPhail

Hi @evilmothericebearkillerbir6016, It is open to the public and also free to fish unlike many other waters, as long as you follow the rules of the countryside then you will have a great day..We do have snakes and the two main ones are the grass snake which is not venomous and the other is called an Adder which is venomous but it's mild and most people get over it much like a bee sting though it's always best to go to the hospital just incase..I played in these hills as a boy as I lived just over the hill, there's many adders there but never got bitten and I knew of no one that had been bitten either so if you do then you have been very unlucky.. All the very best Davie

Been to Loch Doon many times over the years. Spent the first seven years of my life in Dallmellington before emigrating to Canada. Always a good time.

Hi John, I was born in a prefab in Dalmellington as my mum's family are from there, we left Dalmellington when the pits closed and moved to Ayr as my dad got a job in the railway..It's close enough to me though so I don't feel I have left... All the very best Davie

@@DavieMcPhail Small world Davie. Both sides of the family worked in the local pits (Pennyvinnie and Minnivie...Probably spelled them both wrong...lol). Still have family in Dalmrllington and Bellsbank. Haven't been back in 30 years.....maybe next year. Keep up the good work Davie, enjoying your videos from across the pond. Cheers!
