Hi davie, a great way to spend time watching you obviously enjoying your time on the water. You're videos are excellent and entertaining. Describing your set up and flies gives us a lot of info. Thanks. colin 🎣
Davie, you certainly aren't like the other tubers that showcase catch after catch and that's the point of their channel. You take us with you on your outings and there is a certain serenity to time spent with you. I saw your video pop up and audibly said "AAhh YES!!!" and realized I had to comment to let you know that. Time to zone out with you for an hour 👍
I need to get out and fish . Haven’t done any for 6yrs . Shoulder is bad . I miss the hell out of it . I love my 10ft 5wt . Not tried that line . I think I’ll have to buys new fly lines as they must be at least 10 years old . I prefer a snow bee. Excellent video just what I needed to inspire myself to start fishing again . Your right a lot of fish hold close in . So I should be ok on short casts .
Good to see you out on the loch again Davie what a fantastic setting . Wild and rugged but beautiful. Great to see you enjoying yourself as usual. Looking forward to you fishing the Smithston beat. Tight lines 👍
Davie it’s great watching you in action with your rod not just tying flies , I’ve been watching you and tying your flies for a few years now and some I’ve had success and some not so much , here in Tasmania our trout season is closed at the moment , central highlands of Tasmania 20 July wind is blowing 30 knots with gusts out to 40 + knots we had a top temperature of 0 degree C at Liawenee today, hope you aren’t getting the temps like most of Europe & North America, keep up the great work Davie all the best from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 ps hope your not a big cricket fan hate to disappoint you keeping the ashes again
Was up there today doing some sampling for the power company and it was tough going. Never even saw a trout rise through the rain but eventually a perch and a wee trout saved my day. We had 2 out in a boat taking water samples while I was the safety man waiting ashore so I had to have a cast. Good to see your videos each week Davie.
Brilliant davie ,enjoyed that. Aye its been a dodgy July with rain and wind in the area ,don't think I can remember a wetter July lol ,great video and always great to watch you
That 10’ Cadence rod does turn the line over very well. Lovely conditions too. I would have tried my ‘go to’ Iron Blue Dun there on those conditions also. Wouldn’t swap my 10’ 4-piece, 5wt Hardy for those conditions though. Well done Davie👍
Great days fishing. It has always amazed me how quickly trout react, especially on lakes. They must just sit a foot or so below the surface, probably why osprey catch them.
Looks amazing there Davie, is there good road access?, I'll be heading down to Ayrshire for a bit of fishing when we move back home in September. Thoroughly enjoyed the dry fly takes!!
Hi Chris, Yes there is a single track road up to the loch with passing places so just take your time as you head up..I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. All the very best Davie
Hi Brian, My cast is around 12ft and from that I form one or two droppers to two widths of my outstretched arms and a bit..I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. All the very best Davie
Another nice day fishing with you, Davie. I've meant to ask before... what is the release tool you use for deeply hooked fish. It looks like it works better than my method of using forceps. Mike
Hi Mike, I have attached a link to the ketchum release tool that I used in the video and they come in different sizes.I used the midge version as the flies I use mostly will fit fine..I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. All the very best Davie www.waterworks-lamson.com/products/ketchum-release
Hi Ross, Loch Doon originally was a natural loch but got dammed in the 1930s for the hydroelectric system though it is mostly natural, all they do is control it's height.. All the very best Davie
Hi Serge, I have attached a link to the lines I use though if you buy the rod you get the line free with it.. All the very best Davie Cadence Fly Lines.. www.cadencefishing.co.uk/product-category/fly-fishing/fly-lines/sm-fly-line/
I've noticed that while quite a piece of water, the fish taken are smaller then one might expect. Also, as you say, the lack of insects on the water. I'm wondering, has there been an overall decline in insects and hatches over the past several years?
Hi Trevor, There's no memory in the line at a all, it's a lovely straight line and casts really well..I have a 4,5 and a 6 weight and they are great.. All the very best Davie
