At this point I start to believe, that the only reason you guys havent done Dune 2 react yet, is that you are waiting for Dany Villeneuv himself to get comfortable on the couch. Ok, I will not change the spelling so that people can see what this s about. But I have two points to add, becouse I want this discussion out of my notifications. 1. English is NOT my native languege. I bet half of you couldn't write my name if I told you, and the other half couldn't read it if you saw it. And it is ok. This is not your fault. 2. In my languege letters have function, each letter always sounds the same no matter of etymology. English spelling on the other hand is bullshit. If the word "miracles" was greek it would read like "Heracles". For me he is Дені Вільньов. It would be read and written the same was he french, english or martian. I did not consider to look up his biography in order to write his name. To every one who had to suffer trought my misspelling I profoundly apologize.

I was lucky enough to crew on The Fall Guy for all 5 months of the shoot and I can say that Logan (Ryan's stunt driver double) was one of the loveliest guys on set. He was cool enough to chat with me quite a few times, mostly about the differences in traffic between Sydney and LA, then about what it's like to prepare for a stunt where you drive a car across a huge ravine with no safety net. As the shoot was wrapping up he managed to give me a stunt department shirt which I wear all the time. A lot of cool people worked on this movie.

@TomahawkTrollstin
@TomahawkTrollstin 19 дней назад
@@jishan6992 Usually if we were doing a big stunt the actors wouldn't be required on set (a lot of the time the stunts were being shot on a second unit while the main unit shot other scenes that included the big stars). However, when the car jumped over the ravine all the crew were there watching - including Ryan - who was one of the first people to go over to Logan (the stunt driving double for Ryan) and congratulate him on pulling off the jump.

This made me realize just how important Keanu Reeves is for modern action cinema. Without him there is no Matrix back in the day and there is no John Wick today. What an amazing actor with an absolutely incomparable work ethic and talent.
@Ishai1
@Ishai1 Месяц назад
The Matrix wasn't green lit because of Keanu and the other actors in consideration might've done a good enough job for the movie to still be a hit. It's not like it was riding on great acting for it's success. Leitch and the stunt team were already on a path of training actors to do their own fight scenes. Keanu is great, but the credit for both of those movies should go to the Watchowskis and Leitch

@@Ishai1 However, Yuen Woo-Ping is the one who made it a condition that all the actors had to undergo a training camp during Matrix 1, which was unheard of in the (Western) entertainment industry at the time. And in 2013, when Keanu Reeves (GOAT) directed Man of Tai Chi to honor his friend Tiger Chen from Yuen Woo--Ping's team, both he and Chad Stahelski were reminded of how to use a stunt crew to do movies. This happened less than a year before John Wick 1 came out. And the fact that Reeves and Stahelski hadn't done anything of significance regarding action for a 10 year period, only reinforces the idea that they learned from Yuen Woo-Ping.

They could have not had a better director than David Leitch honestly, like a Stuntman turned movie director making a movie and telling a story about a man who does Stunts for a living, and all the things they go through but are rarely seen. David leitch is such a good director. Whilst his movies arent exactly oscar worthy (until theres a stunts category), they find such a good line between comedy and action that rarely disappoints. His journey to being a director is so interesting. Thanks for having him on
@Tigermaster1986
@Tigermaster1986 Месяц назад
Tbh, I think his movies (apart from "Hobbs and Shaw", which I didn't like very much) very much are Oscar-worthy, when it comes to camera work, editing and sound design. Plus, he is like a modern day Richard Donner, with his excellent sense of pacing and his ability to blend extreme comedy with action. I want him to direct the upcoming movie about Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase. If you've read the books, you'll know why. Also, if you want to see how everything started, watch Sammo Hung's "Martial Law" - David Leitch's career started there. His character was very funny.

I lived in Sydney when they filmed this. Just so everyone knows, closing the harbor bridge is nuts. It's like closing the Brooklyn bridge, or the golden gate, or any major artery bridge. The traffic that day was mental and must have cost the economy millions. The shot better be worth it lol. Can't wait for the movie.
@christianboehlefeld5168

And just like closing those bridges it must have cost the production millions. It cost $1 million to close Times Square for 3 hours on a Sunday morning for the scene in Vanilla Sky of Tom Cruise running... through an empty Times Square.

My daughter's horse riding lessons are just across the road from the area where they filmed the helicopter scene. Her house y did NOT like the helicopter being moved around on the crane during the lesson. The staff at the stables said they'd been really struggling to keep the horses from spooking the evening before due to some mini-explosions in something that was being filmed, but they all came out of it okay in the end. My daughter has been pretty curious about the movie since then so we'll probably check it out this weekend.

A Fun Fact about Ringo Lam: he directed a movie called "City on Fire" starring Chow Yun Fat. Quentin Tarantino totally ripped it off when he made "Reservoir Dogs" and then pretended like he hadn't seen the movie. Ringo Lam said he was honored that someone ripped him off because, in Asia, it's considered a compliment to steal someone else's work.

@RSpracticalshooting
@RSpracticalshooting Месяц назад
"Totally ripped it off" No, he didn't. The films have a vaguely similar premise and that's where the similarities end. If you were to watch the movies back to back you wouldn't feel like Reservoir Dogs "totally ripped it off" because they have totally different tones and feels.
@jacoballison8237
@jacoballison8237 Месяц назад
@@RSpracticalshooting look you don't need to suck off QT in youtube comments. He ripped it off. The story is pretty much identical, he just reordered scenes and changed some details, but the plot beats and characters are all pretty much there. I love QT and his movies, but he still copied it. And like OP said, in HK films, ripping off another film/director was like standard practice throughout the 60s-90s and led to some amazing gems. Hell, Ringo himself copied Point Blank to make Full Contact, which is arguably his best movie (to me at least).
@RSpracticalshooting
@RSpracticalshooting Месяц назад
@jacoballison8237 Taking inspiration from something and ripping something off are two different things. You make it sound like Tarantino watched City On Fire and said "I'm gonna remake this movie" rather than just going "well those are some cool ideas" and writing his own movie. Again, watch them back to back. You won't be able to honestly say Reservoir Dogs is the same movie.

Day 5 of asking the guys to look at the VFX from the original 1999 Walking with Dinosaurs TV series from the BBC. Not only does it have a great blend of practical and cg elements, it was also the very first attempt to show dinosaurs as living animals in a documentary rather than as movie monsters. Plus if you can catch them, there are definitely a few shots where the dinosaur models clip through themselves. 😂 Definitely worth a look!

Have you guys considered speaking with Damien Walters? He is an absolute hero in the UK gymnastics, free running and stunt scene. Not only is he himself an insanely decorated stunt performer, but his gym in a small city in the midlands in the UK basically created an entire generation of elite gymnasts and stunt performers (including TH’s stunt double in Spider-Man). He’s just wrapped his directorial debut, and he’s crowdfunding to keep the gym in Derby alive to keep giving back to the community. A true legend in the UK film industry and a perfect guest and role model!

Still loving all these "react" series on the channel. They have heightened my appreciation of movie magic, the vision, and complexity from the special effects keyboard warriors to the people doing the practical work (stunt people/crew)

Fall Guy was freakin' amazing. I hope we can get David back on the couch post-cinema and talk about some of the other stunts. The extended Miami Vice boat sequence was such an awesome take on an old school show & stunt style! And the little setups throughout the movie for stunts that are about to follow are genius for showing how the mind of a stuntman works.

Thank you for honoring these amazing men and women. The Oscars need a Stunt category like NOW. I did a tv series for a few years and my stunt double was just incredible ( she went on to be a well known coordinator) and my favorite thing was watching her learn my walk and just the way I moved. There is so much that’s unsung that goes into stunt work. I was proud to get an “ honorary” stunt card because I had to learn to really drive and do stunt work with horses. I’m rambling… just can’t say enough about stunt performers. You all rock. P S so cool that you let the stunts play out and didn’t cut into them too much.
