Stupid things I've done for cosplay 

first, probably the most stupid thing I do frequently in cosplay is not drink or eat or rest enough, especially at conventions. It'll be all fine and dandy until I wake up the next morning with aching legs and a migraine. Second your cat looks like a skinnier version of the cat in my profile picture.

I was anticipating that you'd say "So here I am, walking barefoot, with -a giant pad on my toe-" and burst out laughing at the thought. Even though that's not how it happened, the image is pretty hilarious!

I can relate, just a month ago I cosplayed Black Cat D.va from Overwatch and I wore heels. You can guess what happened a couple hours later :^)

I can completely relate to you on the heels situation. I cosplayed Babydoll from Sucker Punch during my first Anime North and it was essentially 8 hours in heels each day for all 3 days (and I have a huge fear of walking around barefoot in public places like that so my heels were on the whole time). Next time I cosplay her I will definitely be investing in some soft heel inserts to make the day a bit more bearable xD Thanks for sharing all of your stories! ~J

maybe put some elastic around the top of the sock to make it stay up. I do this to a lot of pants....sew in the waist, add extra elastic to bathing suit bottons that are too big. works on socks too-use thread that is black preferably. you can also add that stuff that is anti slip to the inside top of the sock

One time when I was cosplaying Marceline I couldn’t get the fangs to stay so I tried to use clear tape. I also procrastinate in the middle of making a cosplay.

_Note to self:_ If ever cosplaying a character with heels, wear "kitten" heels (Those are 1-2 inch ones. I heard those are more comfy than regular heels) or have a thicker heel on the shoe so your feet aren't in pain. I also probably shouldn't stay for too long or else ANY heel would start to hurt...

Now I know to be careful with my Sebastian Michaelis cosplay, in his demon form he has super tall heels and i've never went out in heels before XD

Okay so i don't think it was THAT stupid? But i basicly caried Asuna SAO sword with for 8 hours at a con, wich wasn't that hard? Cuz i asked my grandma to help me sew a sword sheeth together so i could carry it with that and it's from real leather so it wouldn't tear easily, but the thing is, the sword is made of WOOD so it was pretty heavy ;-; (i mean it wasn't actually heavy but to carry it around around your hip the whole day, then it is heavy 😅) But i didn't just carry the sword cuz it also had this thing where it rests in ..? Basicly the sword itself was lighter then the thing it rests in like .. boi, logic? 😂 Anyways, it was just anoying yo carry eventually cuz i had to keep on hand on it so it wouldn't turn everywhere and hit people XD

I was cosplaying Satsuki from Kill La Kill and I forgot to check the cosplay weapons policy for the cosplay event. The sword I brought was confiscated because it looked real. It was not reap but apparently it did look like it. I now know next time to look at prop policy before bringing any sort of prop to a cosplay event.

My foot is currently broken because I wanted to cosplay Reese from rwby for rtx and I thought learning how to skateboard was a good idea. I’m still going to cosplay her, now I’m just going to be traveling around Austin with a walker

Gosh these are all really good lessons! I love your videos, always so insightful. I've made a bunch of painful cosplay errors over the years. Most are common like forgetting to drink water and ending up dehydrated at Anime North (when I had no hotel) or bolting across traffic and losing a shoe- but my worst fail was really recent. It happened while getting ready for a con last July. For context, my fiance left hours before me because he was working at an event there and my mom was going with us and getting tired of waiting for me. I felt a little rushed (mostly my fault because I woke up late) I started rushing and while I was in a hurry, I tried to pin my wig cap to my head and I guess I must have used a clip or pin with no protective lining or nub. I scratched my scalp pretty badly and over the course of the day it ended up ripping out a chunk of my hair. The worst part is that I noticed a burning feeing, but I didn't notice the missing hair until hours later when I pulled off my wig to take a selfie out of costume with my fiance.. He was kind enough to ask why I parted my hair twice xD I'm still missing the hair, so I learned a valuable lesson about time management AND slowing down when getting into cosplay.

Yup I get the heals story. Two years ago I cosplayed zero suit samus from the wii u smash bros game and i wanted to be super authentic so I bought a pair of heels, cut them up, added foam and worbla and they looked awesome. Well I didn't really test them out so I ended up getting a really bad blister/cut on the back of my ankle because of a piece of worbla that didn't fold over nicely. It was bad enough that it bled and I couldn't walk properly so I just walked around barefoot until someone wanted a photo. To this day I still have a scar from that shoe.

I haven't actually cosplayed, but I was dressed up for a play I was in. I was dancing and had to go across the floor twirling an umbrella over my head (which looked nice), but I had forgotten how my hair wants to hold umbrellas, too, so on the first opening night, my hair gets tangled in the umbrella, but I had to keep twirling like nothing happened. Long story short, I think I ripped out some of my hair (but it wasn't that bad nor noticeable).

Another alternative to fashion tape is Spirit Gum. I had some lying around from a previous cosplay and I needed to keep some long gloves and puff sleeves in place. I just slapped on a little spirit gum and it worked great.

I really relate to how you stubbed your toe on the sidewalk tbh. It’s hurts so bad! When I was 5 I was running in slippy tights and accidentally shut the door on my big toe. It damaged my nail bed and now I have a nail that sticks up (like a little spike lol) on my left big toe. Not cosplay related but felt like I would share my pain too since it reminded me of this. Big big ouchie 😓

I feel you with the barefoot sidewalk incident ahaha. AN 2017 I wore heels for my Fancy!Ladybug and I was dying within like an hour and walked barefoot in the rain to boston pizza ahahahah

Once I cosplayed Vocaloid Meiko once, and the costume I choosed was with high stockings. And I did also used carpet tape 😆 but I used like 1x1 pieces. Only two for each leg, and it was enough! It didn’t slipped. Although it was very hot too

Oh NOoooo! I got to the carpet tape story and could relate a little. Sock dreams makes a roll on sock adhesive that works really well. I am short and my thighs are weird and never hold thigh highs but that stuff works wonders. (It also works really well for fabric arm pieces that are too stubborn to stay up)

I have staunched many wounds with a pad. 😂

Haha I totally get the heels thing! During my third con I did a cosplay with these big chunky heels, which was fine for the good majority of the day. Only problem was, I was on my feet for 8 hours and by the sixth hour I was hobbling everywhere and eventually one of the guys I went with had to give me a piggyback ride all the way back to the subway station 😂

I’m wearing heels that I danced in. Safe to say, I’ll be okay. I’ve brought another pair of flat shoes in the same color though. So at the slight chance I’m in EXTREME pain, I can change.

I once went to a Con in the middle of September dressed in a Harley Quinn Cosplay, the type from the comics with the hotpants and the corset, not the bodysuit. Not only did I get very sick from running around the Con and it's garden half naked an entire day, I also got a really bad friction burn on top of my head from not removing the very tight pigtail wig at all.

I can't really say that I did anything stupid and crazy in cosplay but, I did something stupid when I started cosplay. So back in 2013 there was an anime shop called Anime Revolution and, my friend and I actually wanted to work their. Well I had been a collector since I was 13 and only had 4 cosplay at the time. Well I had decided to buy one of the cosplays from them so I got a Mami Tomoe Cosplay and, when I got the cosplay it didn't fit at all. The dress was to small and the corset was huge. Not only that but, the corset was falling apart. It was a huge mess that I paid $160 for. After that how ever for many a reason I never went back and, later from what I was told the store got shut down for lack of sales, sexual assault and, racism

I’m usually lucky and I’m very picky with shoes because I have arches on my feet so heels and flats are the death of me in everyday life so I have gotten use to it.

This doesn't really sound that cringe compared to your stories, but when I first watched AOT, I wanted to do a genderbend cosplay of Eren. My hair is naturally dark brown, so when I saw how his bangs were styled, I wanted to have my bangs cut the same way, which is parted in the center and layered. I liked it at first, but looking back at it, having my hair layered everywhere was a pain in the ass if I wanted to keep it all out of my face, unless I got my hair styles for special occasion or something lol

I had a similar story with high heels last year. When I got back to my hotel room that night, I had bleeding blisters all over my feet, and they were too swollen to get back into shoes at all! My stupid mistake? Thinking it was a great idea to wear them the next day, too. ("I'll band-aid my toes together, it'll be fine.") Thankfully, my partner was amazing and ran from the convention center to a clothing store and back to get me some sandals. :)

Because I truly love them and like the format 😊 Oh and my worst mistake was to make a skirt out of play cards and little rings, but I have a big bottom and hadn't considered it a problem and the skirt started falling apart an hour in the convention and the rings popped open, leaving me in my booty shorts, very uncomfortable (at 15) now I am super careful to make sturdy costumes xD

Cosplayers now, well from about 12-16 usually do very Lolita ish versions, or scene versions, like added Kandi, Barrett's, petticoats, like we kinda make ourselves look kinda younger, well, not younger but covered I don't really know how to explain it-

I usually do that do it without thinking thing too. And I like to think i can always do something (crafts) but turns out i cant lol. Anyway I think the most stupidest thing I done was probably not bringing water bottles with me to con and not bring a map of the building etc.

I was going to anime Pasadena 2019 and I was cosplaying flowey from undertale and I have brown hair but... I have thick AF hair and I used two yes two wig caps and got 2 be glue and 2 minutes into the con my head was hurting a lot and I did find a whole group of undertale cosplayers around my age and I didn’t think about it so many hours later the pain kicked in again so now i never use two caps anymore because my head will be screaming in pure agony
