Here are the DS game prices, as of today: Dokapon Journey - about $150 Solatorobo Red the Hunter - $120+ My World My Way - about $85 The Dark Spire - about $70 Pokemon SoulSilver Walmart Edition - $200+ Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ - about $40 Avalon Code - $70 Retro Game Challenge - about $45 Blue Dragon Awakened Shadow - About $50 Shepherd's Crossing 2 - $115
A friend of mine found both digital devil saga each for like under 10€. We found a physical copy of SMTIV Apocalypse for 25€ (used at Gamestop, Cased). 2 years ago he got Persona 4 for 20€ (including a Soundtrack CD). EDIT: some are really cheap, but online the prices tend to be varying. I also recommend to look for more obscure gaming stores, if you look for ps2 games. Old Nintendo games tend to be worse tbh.
Six Years later and the current CIB prices are: Dokapon Journey - $159 Solatorobo Red the Hunter - $341 My World My Way - $187 The Dark Spire - $109 Pokemon SoulSilver Walmart Edition aka [Figure Bundle] - $1,575 Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ - $204 Avalon Code - $92 Retro Game Challenge - $70 Blue Dragon Awakened Shadow - $220 Shepherd's Crossing 2 - $345 An average increase of 209%
I remember when my mom got me the SoulSilver Walmart bundle. And now I feel like an idiot for ripping open the box and losing the figure. If only I knew back then.
Well when i was kid i threw all of my game boy color boxes away. It still hurts so much to think that i lost pokemon yellow, red, silver, crystal and my all time faves metroid fusion and warioland 4 box.. Something good about modern plastic boxes is that rarely anyone throws them away any more since they are neat holding cases for games.
Whenever I worked at GS I would take the trash out at the end of the night and wait til my manager drove away. Then I'd raid it for the goods and resell at my local used media store. She said as long as the cameras didn't see me, she didn't see me.
@@ladyaries I worked at GS as well (summer job). My manager and I would raid the dumpsters together. She had to throw out amazing things. There was water damage on the box art of WW2 and this was near when it came out. We got about 42 copies. We sold them all and between us we got around 630$ each. Other scores include a brand new 360 and games. PS1 games (About 50 games), a full unopened Wii, and a PS3 Slim. We also got a bunch of games.
I was watching a Kelsey's video just now, about the Famicom Network System, and then the notification for this one popped here. I love how much information Kelsey brings about old and rare stuff.
the Kirby plush crew atlus is known for expensive because they release games at low production, Persona is cheap because it's a best seller for atlus so of course they reprint it
badGamr You do, though I personally think that's a bit crazy as I know I would likely not play all of them, and having them take up shelf space to make a collection look bigger isn't a reason to collect for me.
9:04 - In case you guys didn't know, Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ can be bought digitally for your 3DS from Nintendo's eShop for $7.99. Super fun game. 👍🏻
I worked for the company that made Little Red Riding Hood Zombie BBQ and I still have a copy of it, along with a poster for it (pretty awesome imo). Another game from Destineer that I would recommend checking out is Animal Boxing. It requires you to turn your DS upside down and use your thumbs to throw punches; pretty neat!
I love your videos man. Discovered you last week and have been binge watching them ever since. You inspired me to get back into handheld gaming. Gonna get the New 2DS XL next week.
How much did you end up paying? Bought one for around 560 cib around a week ago. Definitely happy as I finished my cib DS collection. Not so happy it was over half a grand lol
I got mine for $70 AUD. but this was the pal version that is much cheaper, and does not include the cardboard case and soundtrack that is in the ntsc version.
There's a game called Monster Racers that was on DS and it was a side scrolling racing game crossed with Pokemon! Im not sure if it's rare or expensive but it's so incredibly hard to find info on. It was my favourite DS game, alongside Custom Robo Arena. Must check it out if you don't already own it! So fun!
Smart idea to keep the video Evergreen, MJR! Very good job as always. You two always have such great chemistry on screen, very natural flow and entertaining the whole way through!
I got solatorobo as a birthday present back then when i'm still a kid and never thought it gonna be that expensive either lol. But man, Tales Concerto and Solatorobo are one of my favourite games ever
@@medotaku9360 Since you didn't seem to understand (while 153 others clearly did), I'll explain. He was asking why Cory in the House (also known as the best anime inspired roleplaying game) (on the Nintendo DS)) isn't featured in this video. It is a priceless piece of art. Hope that explained. /s
Wow, I bought The Dark Spire complete with soundtrack and box for under twenty bucks from a local game store a few years ago.... and I used one of those five dollar Kongregate coupons GameStop was doing for a while to get Zombie BBQ for a dollar.
Woohoo, I actually own two of these! Avalon Code (cart only) and Solatorobo (no box, but I do have the manual and CD soundtrack, found it that way at a Gamestop for like $15 a couple years ago! And their boss said the one employee could take the CD home like a week later if it hadn't sold, but my hunting paid off!) Not as valuable as it'd be with the full box, but adding the manual and CD soundtrack's gotta count for something more And I was in a Gamestop, and they were gonna toss out a box/manual for TWEWY and I was like "Whuuut?" so they let me have it!
The Dark Spire is seriously such a great game. So brutally difficult, but boy is it rewarding. Also I remember finding Little Red Riding Hood Zombie BBQ a few years back for $20 and thought it sounded weird and not good, but it's probably one of my favorite games on the system.
I guess u forget it also who made the game, how many r made, where was the game in the console lifetime, and if it did well or not so wendy go sit in the corner
A childhood fav of mine goes for about $150 on eBay right now if it still has the box and the papers! Rune factory 3. I honestly had no idea it was so expensive. Glad I was that kid who kept all the papers and the box their games came in.
I had that special edition for heartgold, but cause I was like 11, I threw away the box and regret it so much. Still have the figure and pokewalker sleeve though.
Matthew Fischer I have the Lugia figure, and I remember getting it the day the game came out, but I got mine from Best Buy? Mine didn't come on that big box though, it was a tiny cardboard box for the figure. Also, a week after the game came out someone stole my pokewalker from by backpack.
Matthew Fischer yep ....when I was 13 I had a really good pc....but I fucked the board and I threw it away not knowing that I can change the motherboard fairly easily
wizzgamer - Yeah the only reason this video was done was this lady owns a gaming store. Videos like this are only helping people that already have about 20 copies of these games to sell because there are people on Nintendo Age bragging about selling these games. I like Metal Jesus but videos like this do not need to be made.
Wendy Brown - I don't think this video was his idea, he doesn't play or care for Pokemon games. I'm sure it was the person standing on the box because Jason has no interest in selling or making money off of games. I bet my copy of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance this wasn't his idea, that chick owns Pink Guerrilla in Seattle and this video was probably just a way to get people in her shop. I'm not hating because as I said I MJR's channel and what he has to offer but specifically saying what's rare and their going price is just a kick in throat to collectors that are actually looking for these games. In the end it doesn't matter because I already have a complete copy of Soul Silver and the rest I'm in no way shape or form interested in any of these games. Besides they left of a game that is worth playing - Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled.
Their goal of this video isn't to increase the prices of these games, its an educational video to inform you about expensive ds games. Take the sand out of your vag
In The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers Volume 3, it turns out the original Shepherd's Crossing is a PSP game that Takato Yoshinari worked on. So weird! That entire series of books is something you should definitely make a video on, it's wonderful stuff.
He is pretty tall and she is pretty short. You can tell because her waist is higher than his despite how much shorter she is than him. They likely did this to make the shot look way less awkward.
Guess what, it’s the first time I see your videos, but I knew Sola to Robo in a convention, full with the box and… it’s still expensive, like 120, 150€
As a kid I used to buy Nintendo magazines. On the back of one of them was a picture of Solatorobo. My grandparents came and we went to a games shop. Knowing how much I love games, they told me to choose one and they'd pay for it. There was no game I wanted so I just chose Solatorobo because it was in the magazine. My grandparents paid around 30€. I'm so grateful that they bought it for me. Also, if it wasn't for the magazine, I wouldn't have bought it.
Love the DS, one of my favorites to collect for! I actually got dark spire within the past 6 months for an insanely good deal CIB, didn't realize it got this expensive recently haha.
I was just starting grade school when I got my DS back in the late 2000s. Fast forward to 2016- i lost it during the move to vegas. Fast forward to 2021, I'm now a grown man with a job and I'm feeling nostalgic for the good parts of my childhood. Quick shoutout to Retro Gaming City in Las Vegas and Henderson for pulling through and helping me achieve this endeavor of mine
Zombie BBQ was also a DSIware game and it's still available as a digital purchase on the 3DS eShop. Definitely consider that option if you have trouble hunting down a physical copy.
Heartgold and Soulsilver are the most expensive pokemon games at this moment speaking of cart only. CIB it is just about as expensive as Red, Blue, Yellow and Crystal depending a little on the condition.
g1nobleteam Yup have both payed for $40 each a couple years ago. Ive seen a couple of people let them go on Offer Up for a pretty good cheap price but usually without box.
What the heck...I still have the pokewalker that came with that soulsilver Walmart edition along with the original box and figurine. Shit's been sitting in my draw for years now, never knew it was worth so much.
When I was at a Book-Off a few weeks ago I saw a DS game behind a glass case called Coropata and it was about 110 dolllars. I've never heard of that game but it must be pretty rare if it's that expensive.
Its crazy that solatorobo is so expensive now. No one seemed to want it and it was hard to find a review. It kept going down in price on amazon and i finally got it in a nice box set for only 17 dollars.
Hey I just found your channel. Really amazing videos bro! I love the GBA hidden gems videos but all your videos are great! So glad I found your channel. Keep it up!
Metal Jesus, since you're into Vita games you should look into getting Dungeon Travelers 2. The only bad thing about the game is that a lot of enemy models and some cutscenes are borderline hentai, though it's an amazing dungeon crawler based on its gameplay. Dark Spire was $4.99 for the longest time at Gamestop. It was a game I passed on because I only saw the retro graphics style and wasn't interested in playing a game that looked that aged. If I saw the modern graphics I would have definitely picked it up.
***SPOILERS*** Dokapon Journey 1:31 Solatorobo 2:50 My World My Way 4:18 The Dark Spire 6:00 Pokemon SoulSilver Wal-Mart Exclusive 7:35 Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ 9:14 Avalon Code 10:22 Retro Game Challenge 11:34 Blue Dragon Awakened Shadow 13:23 Shepard's Crossing 2 14:32 Honorable Mention: Infinite Space 17:29
Guys, I trully love this vids! Thanks for all your knowledge. Its so much fun to view. This episodes with Kelsey and the others with Reggie are my prefered! Thanks !
I'm gonna guess the folks who made Rune Factory were also behind My World My Way. The double-daggered cat set off Rune Factory memories almost immediately, hehehe.
"Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ" did get a DSi release on the US and EU DSi Store. It's a lot cheaper and fixes the slowdown issues that occurred in the original. Sadly, you have to download it using your Nintendo 3DS, as the Nintendo DSi store has closed.
Out of this list, I own Zombie BBQ, Retro Game Challenge, and Shepherds Crossing 2. Got them for $15, $20 and $7 respectively. Would LOVE a copy of The Dark Spire. My first RPG was Treasure of Tarmin on the Intellivision.
Final Fantasy, wrong. It's a hell of a lot more expensive than the US version by a long way. The reason being... how many idiots threw away the cardboard box before reselling the game? Luckily I'm a boss so mine is still pretty mint and complete and the Pokewalker even works thanks to it's battery being easy to replace. FFSete: Whenever it comes to European game, always assume it'll be more expensive. Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness is the perfect example.
I usually see it in second hand sites for around 50-70€, CIB. Two examples: www.olx.pt/anuncio/pokmon-soulsilver-c-pokwalker-IDAEAp9.html#be5dfeb5a5 and : www.olx.pt/anuncio/pokemon-heartgold-com-pokewalker-nintendo-ds-IDAzXCf.html#be5dfeb5a5 No where near 100-200$.
Shepherd's Crossing 2 was probably a very low print, considering it's a sequel to a relatively obscure PS2 game that came out in 2008. DS collecting is fun because a lot of places don't realize the rarity of some games. I picked up my Shepherd's Crossing 2 for around $10US from a local store. I didn't even know it was rare at the time.
I got Shepherd’s Crossing 2 from WalMart when I was a teenager, and tried to trade it in to EB Games/GameStop, and they wouldn’t take it because it wasn’t in their database 😂
"If you haven't played Pokemon games at all, this is honestly where I'd recommend you start." No, if you haven't played at all you start at Gen III with Fire Red or Leaf Green. Gen I and II were basically prototypes, but Gen III established almost all of the mechanics that the later games use like multi-trainer battles, breeding, time and context sensitive events, trade evolutions, and weather. It's stripped down and barebones enough to not be intimidating, but still contains almost everything the later games have or built upon. Saying Gen IV is a good place to start learning Pokemon is like telling someone the Gothic era is a good place to start learning architecture.
I own a bunch of these and didn't realise they are getting expensive. Figured Infinite Space was my rarest/most expensive DS and that didn't even officially make the list
I've been trying to find a copy of Izuna:Legend of the unemployed ninja to replace mine that was stolen from me awhile back, but finding it in box complete is like 80-100$ USD for the NTSC version. DS game complete are getting crazy expensive to find sadly.
They tend to take the little books out of the inside of game cases to. I have to tell them every time to leave it in there because I want it even if it has a expired code for something.
A couple years back at DragonCon, my brother noticed how much they were charging for even a loose copy of HeartGold or SoulSilver, and he was able to hand over a single cartridge in exchange for a limited edition Pokemon XD Gamecube. Wild!
I have Avalon Code. It was given to me as a gift from a friend who worked at GameStop. I had been searching for it because it's by the people who make Rune Factory. I'm really grateful to have it since, although it suffers in a few places and the puzzles can get boring after playing for a while, the story and game mechanics are interesting and fun. (But its laughable how easy certain bosses are once you obtain the projectile weapon type.) The characters and romance are really nice even if all of the sidequests and character building events are totally optional, but you complete almost all of it in post game too. Neverland has closed since Rune Factory 4, but the team has since been rehired by Marvelous, so I hope one day they decide to remake Avalon Code. I really liked the graphics of Avalon Code and compared to the other DS Rune Factory games, I found it genuinely impressive for a DS game. (But to be fair the Rune Factory games pack way more content into them so Avalon Code was able to invest more in looking nice.)
I love Solatorobo red the hunter! I have the game, and the soundtrack that comes with it, I got this way back when I was still in high school, and I still love it to this day, I'm planning to restart the game all over again to play through to experience the nostalgia all over again 😊😊😊😊
Game center cx arino no chousenjou is the Japanese title for retro game challenge. Been watching game center cx for years. Love watching arino take on every type of game.
HOLY SHIT I HAVE RETRO GAME CHALLENGE I NEED TO START DIGGING EDIT: i have the game but the sticker is torn off :( EDIT: NEVER MIND i love the game so much that i dont wanna sell it :D
Funny story: I had a pristine copy of Solatorobo that I bought new when it was $20 on Amazon, but I sold it on ebay earlier this year because I was literally afraid of touching the box and creasing it whatsoever.
I bought The Dark Spire at Gamestop years ago for $3 and the clerk tried to talk me out of it! He said, "you probably don't really want this...it's soooo old fashioned!" I said something to the effect of, "Stop selling me man, I'll take it!"
Missing Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey, Nostalgia DS and the Luminous Arc games. Also I see Avalon Code, Solatorobo and Blue Dragon for cheap in stores often so not sure how rare those are.
Lies! I've been trying to find a used copy with the soundtrack for less than $70 for the past 3 years. I even lost an auction at eBay today for a sealed copy that I maxed out at $130(sold for $153). Tell me the name of this supposed store.
