John is making fun of Karl's paneling. That is authentic tongue and groove knotty pine with a natural finish. It was safely removed without any breakage and sold to furniture makers or a recycled lumber expert it would be worth more than the superfund site roach factory that John calls home.

When Karl was asked how he's going to handle John's screaming and yelling, he said "I don't know, I'm going to have to put some thought into it and figure it out." Just by saying he's going to think (he doesn't even have to actually do it) he became the smartest man in the dabbleverse. Because it would never occur to Kevin or Chad to think ahead like that, and form a plan of some kind. Shuli would overthink it until he found a way to make it work and then immediately blow it.

I was watching some old segments from when John was on stern and they goofed on him a lot. He was always scewing up and he hated the intern title.
