Now I don’t have to, but I enjoy these moments of self care- it’s like a form of therapy and I love seeing how far my skills have grown.

Girl!!! I completely agree. Learning how to do my own hair (wigs, braids etc.), makeup AND nails (gel, acrylics) have really helped. I just switch things up whenever, and the bonus is I save money too. I can easily go to the shops, but it’s so nice being able to do things on my own too. ❤

Girl, I’m 58 years old when I saw this post today I congratulations on your skills. As a older person, I often thought about where did we get to the point where we can do nothing for ourselves. THIS!! The only thing I can’t do for myself well is my pedi. Everything- literally everything- else I do and have been doing for years!! It’s such a flex to not have to depend on other people’s time to look the way you want to ALL THE TIME!

There’s a pedi bag kit at Target you can try if you want to work on giving your self a pedicure. It’s literally a warm wrap and it really has your feet soft and moisturized.

Yes Sis, I totally agree. When most of my girlfriends was panicking during Lockdown Covid, I was on top of my shishhhh for real! I already knew how to keep my hair, nails and do my own personal 'girly maintenance' if you know what I mean! If you haven't already, please start giving your children their chores, even the little ones. The earlier you can get a system going, the better as your children will grow up thinking it's normal. I see too many women who wait until their children are 10 or even teenagers before they start asking them to share the household duties & then chaos ensues and the mother ends up working and having to do everything herself. Whiteboards and shared apps such as Sweepy or Cozi are great for letting everybody know what they should be doing. ❤

Girl I agree 100%. For me, it’s really low energy and lack of time/preparation that makes me go to have my upkeep services done ( hair, nails, etc) but I can do them myself. I plan on investing in a nail drill set to do my own because even my “nail tech” say I like “expensive sets”…😂 and my shit ain’t even long or crazy. It definitely saves your coins AND I think the best part is you can be as detailed/particular as you want to be because it’s YOUR body! 🥰🥰🥰

She’s not lying. I learned to do my own nails and ladies the compliments did not disappoint. I work in a high school and the students were even complimenting my nails. Nothing wrong with learning and saving a few dollars.

Facts! People are amazed that I do my own weekly roller sets and blow out afterwards. I also do my own nails. I learned by watching my mom. Many people are calling it a “glow up “ journey. I’m like holy crap! This is my weekly routine since I was a teen.

I’ve done my own nails since Covid. I was always terrible at painting my nails so when I started I didn’t have a lot of confidence in myself. RU-vid tutorials to the rescue! Also with gel x nails it became so much easier than sculpting nails. Now I really enjoy the time I spend on my nails.

You looks amazing! ❤I’m a mom of small kids so I don’t always have the time or resources to make myself up, but I’ve started using kiss impress nails for around $8 and wearing them make me feel like a new lady. They last about a week for me (I am a little hard on my nails) but they save me so much time and money! So worth it!

This is so true, me and my daughter says the same thing all the time, we refuse to dependent on a salon, nail tech etc. we do our own, touches to ourselves, and so did my mother, We didn’t go to hair dressers When we’re younger either, we learned on how to take care of ourselves, and you did An amazing job❤❤❤❤
