The first thing I noticed about the September Vogue cover was that Tatjana is missing. It was unfortunate to hear about her passing due to breast cancer. I'm glad they didn't replace her with a new model. That's really important because older women deserve to be on the cover of magazines, too. They need to be represented in the media just like younger women are.
The reason why they are no new super models on the cover of vogue is because they aren’t any. Sorry, but the new models these days are pretty but they are not super model pretty like the girls in the nineties. I don’t consider Gigi or Bella or the other ones in the same lane.
Can you name any of today’s models because Gigi and Bella are nothing compared to the nineties supermodels , they were amazing all those years ago and they still are even with cosmetic help !
Dear Charlotte, EVERYTHING is about youth and being young and ‘anti- aging ‘ ! The spotlight is ALWAYS on younger people, especially in fashion. How do you define how a 50 year old should look ? How long is a piece of string ! We come in all shapes and sizes , just like you do. There is no competition for who should get a place in the limelight, there is enough room for everyone. I think you will change your rhetoric when you arrive at 50. It comes much faster than you think !
It would be awesome to see 50 year olds of all shapes and sizes on magazine covers - the Vogue example arguably just sets an unrealistic beauty standard for that age group. Also as I said - not my opinion, my job is to be devil's advocate :)
@@charlottecollins4788 That is true for all age groups. Unrealistic beauty standards are set by almost every media channel. Social media being the worst for that narrative. This is the world we live in and as I said before, there is room for everyone. The Ferraris, the pimped-up Cadillacs and the comfortable family saloons ;-)
@@charlottecollins4788 I appreciate you mentioning "arguably" because I thought the same thing. These models relied on their looks as their primary source of income, so it's understandable that they would want to be touched up to resemble their younger selves. It's important to note that these women are not your average everyday people; they are/were supermodels. People don't pick up Vogue to see relatable women on the cover. What really matters is that these women are approaching their 60s and are still healthy.
I love the show, agree that the touch ups are not necessary for the supermodels, I adore them & it feels so nostalgic to see them together again. I’m 49 & still feel 30. Age is just a number & I think we should support all women at any age . If you see the interview with them ( without touch ups) they look insane although anyone else cringe when people say ‘you look great, for your age ! Just say you look great, period.
Out of towners with no style. ANYbody that laughs at someones fashion expression sucks. I say yay for whatever your fashion perspective is, at least you have one! ❤
I am thrilled to see the name Lisa coming back! Seems to be more in Europe/Britain :) I loved seeing the 90’s supers. For those of us who were young women in that era they embodied so many dreams, such great fashion… it’s a delight to see them again. As for new faces, I think bringing back these ladies at this age IS the new. They are in their mid to late 50’s and on the cover of Vogue. Something you would have never seen in the 90’s. I also think it’s kind of hypocritical for young beautiful ladies to criticize the work or lack of that somebody has had done. You just really can’t know how you will feel about it until you have your own face aging, different people age in different ways. It’s a totally personal decision and every woman has the right to feel beautiful in what ever form that embodies for them (aged or not).
Loved today’s show,,Charlotte and polly love both your styles,,and recently been following Lisa ,,,Charlotte where are your gorgeous white trousers from xx
