Hey guys welcome back! Finally to a new collab video - this week me and Daniel tried out styling skirts using pieces from our own wardrobes - I wanted to push us out of our comfort zones and have us both style something that we don't wear.

Ok as someone who has worn skirts most of their life this so funny 😂 But I’m also trying to shift my wardrobe in a more androgynous direction & that includes wearing skirts in a more “masc” way. I recently thrifted a black pleated skirt very similar to yours and I’ve been styling it nearly the same!

Nice job, both of you! I think the trick is, if you’re self conscious about the skirt, to think of it as a kilt. Kilts are manly as heck.

Oh my, this is really challenging. I’m not feeling like I want to laugh or anything but I just can’t get my head around it. I do get most of my inspo from women’s outfits though, in terms of shoes, trousers and jackets, items that easily cross over and I like the feminine focus on style and of rule breaking over the dogma of traditional men’s fashion. I find a skirt on a woman to often be sexy as the rump sways beneath the fabric. To see the same effect on a guy is disconcerting to say the least.

Honestly, I’m here for skirts on the male silhouette. The first look was killer! Tbh, if woman were able to adapt to wearing pants which were meant for men, why can’t we wear skirts? Also, highkey skirts/kilts make sense with our Biology/anatomy bc You can just let it alllll hang out- if you know what I mean lmao

I think this is how you will get guys to wear skirts is to make them very masculine. Seriously. They have to be masculine like the skirts worn by the pharaohs or the assyrian and babylonian warriors. Men wore skirts for a longer duration of time than they ever wore pants. Just facts. You will be able to make men wear skirts if they are very masculine and if they are modeled by very masculine muscular men. Sandals will look better. Bare chested or wide suit jackets or vest for tops will look good. Courdoroy or jeans look good. Make it work and you might change mens fashion convention moving forward. There are a lot of places in the world where men do not traditionally wear pants even in the present day. Just saying

Years ago I saw this really cool looking woman’s kilted skirt at a thrift shop and bought it. To make it a guys kilt and since the kilted skirt was slightly smaller than my size I had some pleat near the front panels ironed out and had the frayed edge done on the left panel that would be over lapping the right. To make sure this was done correctly, I took it over to a seamstress to have the alterations done. In the end I was literally wearing my “new” kilt to church. The pleats weren’t as deep as a guys kilt but it was made of a lighter weight wool and the tartan design was unique in the way I have never seen in men’s kilts and I liked it so....

A KILT is a SKIRT.... skirts were created for men in the very beginning... a kilt and a skirt are the same thing and there is no difference, both of them are a skirted garment. A man if he wears a kilt if he'll call it a kilt because it's Macho and manly like. Even if he is wearing a skirt he'll still call it a kilt because a doesn't want to be related to anything feminine because he will think people will think he is gay that is not true at all.

Historically and hilariously enough, men initially wore dresses and skirts even before women started to wear them. A few countries, however, still don't believe in division as for clothing, such as Scotland, Bhutan, Myanmar, Dominican Republic, Morocco, Fiji, Japan and Greece.
