More than 1 year after you published this video, I am still watching it as reference for some projects. So, I have to write down a comment to let you know that it is extremely useful. Thanks a lot 💯👌
Absolutely incredible tutorial. Exactly what I was looking for to animate a specific concept, and incredibly well explained. Your node structure is clean and easy to follow, and I appreciated that you mentioned each and every adjustment you made. Absolutely fantastic work. Informational content of this caliber is hard to come by. Keep up the good work!
very nice tutorial. It took me some time to follow, total work along time was about 2 hours. However, the result was more than worth spending the time. Info for others: instead of check box for viewport display/input there's a new node called "Viewport Input"
Very brilliant. Please kindly do more of such tutorials as this - especially using animation nodes for Motion graphics projects from start to finish. Thanks
If you are wondering where the "Show In Viewport" option is, in the latest AN version it was moved to a separate Viewport Input node. From what I've seen its not in the add node menu and needs to be searched manually.
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I learned a lot more about animation nodes and about offering user configurable input options in the viewport. I especially loved learning about this!!! In Blender 2.9 with A.N. 2.1, the animation node that drives this is Shift-A>>Subprograms>>Viewport Input. The other thing that I finally learned today was where to find the Matcaps. I have been cursing Blender for 6 months not being able to see the various default matcaps... *sorry Blender... Thank you for this excellent motion graphics tutorial. There is a lot that can be used in many different ways...
I'm just a beginner, this tutorial is inspiring and very well explained, thank you very much! I hope you will do more tutorials on this topic! AN is extremely powerful in the hands of those who know how to use.
Преступно мало просмотров у такого годного туториала. Но так как мы неизбежно движемся к нодам и всему, что с ними связанно, уроки по AN будут все более востребованны. Надеюсь, к вам еще набегут подписчики. P.S. Отличный английский :)
I definitly would like more tutorials like this, so I guess more complex from A to Z. The thing I like about the approach that you took here is that your end result is 1. original & very pretty, 2. I learn animation nodes and other "tricks" in a really clear way (it shows that you have good knowledge of what you are doing) and 3. while following your tutorial I can already imagine myself experimenting with the different steps. Just the stuff I (and I guess many others) are looking for. Greatly appreciated, keep it up!
I can see your last video 9 months ago..your tutorial is very helpful. Please upload video on regular bases if you can... it will be very helpful to motion graphic designers who wants to shift from C4D to Blender. thank you very much for nice tutorial.
Love your stuff.....hope you are still around as your website is down. A great peek into the power of AN. Pls make more.....and surely your subs will increase.
Amazing tutorial!! With just one video you seem more like an 'Animation Nodes Guru'. Please post more videos, will be eagerly waiting for them to come out. :-D
WOW! I am facinated by this! Think i caused at least half of the amount of views by now hahaha. Great tutorial! If you have tips on other tutorials or just tips them self for animation nodes.. please let me know! Would love to explore it more like this and actually understand what each thing does.
Great one! I love how you went by the simplest solution and didn't use the more complex way you could have achieved this. the only part I was totally unfamiliar with was the part you set the drivers.I was like what's happeninnnnnnnng :D
Awesome tutorial, lots of valuable information. One question, before 31:59, all the hexagon has a tiny black dot on top of them, but after 31:59 they are all gone, what was done to remove the dots?
When I try to create a scene with 1/10 of the geometry you have Blender starts to choke, but my CPU and GPU are at around 20%. Any ideas on that issue?
Hello, Thank you very much for the tutorial . For a beginner like me (1 week of Blender manipulation from youtube) it's very useful. I have a problem regarding the counting down. it doesn’t works. When I use the map range with curve interpolation the countdown stop working. The 3D view doesn’t show me any movement . I started from the beginning 2 times (I thought I have miss something) but the result was the same. Even after the downloading of your file it doesn't work. Can you please help me and advise me? What can be wrong? Thank you very much.
I have problem with the material , when I plugged the Mix Rgb on the Base Color it affects everything , the colors are there not even blending :/ please help
It's one of the standart themes, called Elsyiun if I remember correctly. To bad they scrapped all the themes in the latest Blender builds. But you can find .xml preset file in Blender 2.79 folder (scripts->presets->interface_theme) and copy it in 2.8s folder
@@blenderust726 Thanks so much. I found it. And its working. I'm really happy with it. Please kindly do more of such tutorials as this - especially using animation nodes for Motion graphics projects from start to finish. Thanks so much
not sure what problem it is,after 15:30 math result to object attribute output, the number you go up , but i go down....?! not really understand all the math node, but i follow the step by step, oh by the way , Blender 2.90 and animation nodes V2.2
@@blenderust726 Blender становится невероятно гибким с Animation Nodes, уже отпадает поиск способов реализации, а на передний план выходит поиск и постановка задач ))
Went ahead and did this, but it isn't rendering the hexagons. I checked everything usual, made sure stuff is included to the render etc. but nothing. It looks great in the viewport, but none of the engines render it.
Yeah, you can make it much more stable by 1) enabling "lock interface" option in render preferences in main menu, 2) hiding any 3Dview and outliner spaces prior to render
When I parent hexagon to plane, and assign 3 arrays modifiers to plane everything is good in evee but cycles does not render the grid, I tried to unhide everything, and double checked visibility toggles everywhere… unless I apply array modifiers
Oh, jeez, I haven't been using AN for awhile now :)) As far as I remember, viewport input node was replaced in later versions. Perhaps, you should stick to Geometry Nodes, nowadays - it's native, faster, although not so flexible as AN yet:)
in AN left menu: set auto execution, always disabled, last 3 enabled. In Object Mode: Go to view > viewport render animation. Set display to render and disable overlays before rendering. Worked for me.
Well at 12:052 my mesh deforming as a whole not as individuals. The displacement deforms the mesh and not displacing as a height difference between the hexes :-((((( I cant figure out what is wrong. Ok i leave my comment for the future if somebody makes the same mistake i did. Instead instancing the PLANE i instanced the HEX.......big mistake :-)
@@warlord76i IAM realy sorry i forget about it, but if IAM not wrong i believe that you should click on deep copy to in instance node into animation node to copy all modifiers
@@abdelhakimfarah6761 Well my problem is that when u take th displecement node and ad it to the bottom of the list at 12:02 my whole array of hexes deforms as one mesh and not as individuals ...
Animation Nodes itself doesn't affect render settings anyhow. I'm afraid you have to look for the issue elsewhere. Don't forget that Blender 2.8 is still in beta now. Could be just a bug :(

@@blenderust726 Same problem here! Hit render and only regular geometry is shown :O
5 лет назад
@@blenderust726 May be, the render problem comes from a bug with the object instancer in blender -> developer.blender.org/T58202
Yep, unfortunately it can be really unstable from setup to setup. Throughout my workflow I figured that it only happens during animation rendering (while it can run smooth in a viewport), so I wrote a little operator that actually renders the scene frame by frame - like if you'd render a still frame, saved it, manually set scene frame to the next one and hit render again for N amount of times, but automatically. I know it's kinda brute workaround, but completely solved the problem for me :)
@@blenderust726 I found a solution, at least on this scene, i set the render window to image editor and check the "lock user interface" checkbox, rendered the 100 frames with different resolutions an no crash
@@blenderust726 yes, and i just ran into a big issue, it doesn't render the right animation, and days of work :( , could you possibly share your scrip?
@@Bakantimo sure! Drop me a line on my email sergusster(at)gmail.com. I'm going to give you some hints on how to use it (although there's just one button)
Wellp... Lot of work. Unfortunately not so much time to make complex tutorials, and I'm not that type of guy who wants to make yet another useless video about how to make another freaking donut/chair/funnycartooncharacter or another "5 tips for Blender beginners! How to delete default cube!". I'm not giving up on my channel though. There's gonna be a new tutorial till the end of this crazy year :)
@@sergusster welp your channel doesn not contain any beginner noob shit and i saw this video like 1 year ago and i was exploring animation nodes again today andc ame ack to this and i checked you hade no new content.... the coomunity needs people like you.... i hate those noob atracting youtubers... tis shit... you sir have awesome stuff!! looking forward to more crazy animnodes and other content!
