This is a wonderful way to cover older mobile home ceilings!! No worries about the weight of the product and the flexibility of the product with temperature changes. I will be using this in my double wide.
I am in LOVE with this idea! I am a confirmed do-it- yourself type. I have the old popcorn ceiling from the 70's. Probably full of asbestos. The estimate to have it removed was ridiculous, and I don't want to have to buy a respirator and deal with the horrible mess of removing it myself either. Now THIS I can do! Perfect solution! Popcorn would make a GREAT base for adhesive, I'm thinking. This video made my day. Will be looking for the "popcorn" info. Thank you!

We are doing the living/dining room right now, but am so excited because we have issues in this house where someone wallpapered the ceiling & then painted over it?? It's a mess & we haven't known what to do about it. This could be an easy fix. & I so hate the popcorn ceilings through our whole house.

I see you've put loads of glue spots on tile. which means you'll need to press them to the ceiling thus denting the tiles with your hand. I use a mini roller. Works perfect.

I've never even known styrofoam ceiling tiles existed until now. Why did you chose them rather than tin? Excellent instructions by the way. Very nice of you to share!! I'm thinking of doing my ceiling. I have a cement ceiling as I'm in a unit. Will this process work the same for my ceiling? Also, I have recently put in ceiling roses in my place. Because I won't be able to remove them, would I just cut my tiles to fit around the ceiling rose?
I'm really excited about doing this & love the idea of not having to scrape the popcorn off my ceilings, however I am very nervous about that. Will the tiles stick properly to the popcorn ceiling? Will they look "bumpy" or weird not being glued to a perfectly flat surface?? Do you have a video of installing them over a popcorn ceiling & what it looks like after?
Hi Sue, typically there are not issues with this and we always recommend caulking the seems between each tile to prevent moisture getting behind your tiles.

Hi Kate, no you do not need to paint them but we recommend it. Many people use them as is in plain white finish. We do have several colors available. If you decide to paint them yourself, please use water based paints.

I think its a good idea if you have a horrible ceiling and dont want to spend too much but otherwize I dont like it. In this case I think the ceiling looked better before tiling.
Are you an idiot? You house is full of plastic (which is what Styrofoam is). If your house is on fire and you are only worried about your ceiling then you are a complete moron.
Some of these styrofoam tiles are FIRE RATED at least the one i put on. Almost all of the stuff in your house is made of wood or things that will burn. Excellent! Zoe, our first customer, year ago had the same issue with the wallpapered ceiling that was painted over, slightly peeling in some areas. They were amazed how easy it was to get rid of it and so will you! If you have any questions for concerns, please let me know.

Yes, you want to measure the widest points otherwise the line would not be straight. For example, if one side is 10ft, half of that would be 5ft. On the other side is the chimney that is 1 ft wide for example. So if you measure there, you only have 9 ft and if you divide that by 2 to find the center, you get the 4.5ft. That means you would be 0.5 ft off.
These are Styrofoam and I have them in my whole house. It depends on the color you would like to see on the ceiling and what is your ceiling like I would make a recommendation for you.

We have an 26 ft camping trailer where we had (have) a leak and have ripped out part of the interior ceiling. It would be nice to have ceiling tile that does not self destruct if (when) it gets wet again. Any ideas how to mount with minimal backing - at the moment we just have the cross beams. We are not the only camper owners whose ceiling has gotten wet - might be a market here. Really don't want to put up similar paneling that can't handle the next leak. What is the finish for the unpainted tiles? Does it need to be painted to allow cleaning and help durabililty? Ideas? Thanks.
