Hey guys.
In this DCS World Simulator video I'm in the mighty SU27 Flanker fighting against the arch enemy, the Gripen flown by Sabre (Thanks so much buddy).
We use both guns and missiles on this one (few rounds just guns, few rounds with missiles)
Hope you guys enjoy!
I love playing simulators, I started with Arma 3 and then I saw DCS World. I also enjoy War Thunder , Battlefield , Ghost recon, Squad , Rome total war, Microsoft Flight Simulator and more. I also enjoy World War II games including il-2 In DCS World i found all the jets that i wanted to fly in a simulator the F 16 Viper , FA 18 Hornet , F 15 Eagle , A 10 Warthawg , SU 27 , Mig 29 , P 51 , Spitfire , AH 64 Apeche , Heuy and more... And if you will download MODs the options are endless: F 22 Raptor, SU 57 , A 4 Skyhawk , SR 71 Blackbird , Rafale, Gripen and the list goes on.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core Processor 3.40 GHz
GPU: Geforce RTX 2080ti
RAM: DDR4 Corsair 3200 MHz 32 GBB (total of 4 sticks so 128 GB in total)

A 16 minute action movie. I am impressed with all the angles you get of the planes in manoeuvres. Differential thrust use. A balance of wins and losses seems fair. A lot of professional editing. It is a shame you don't have more followers. At least 500K.

This was amazing. I love the Gripen mod. I’ve been obsessed with flying. It comes with a mission that lets you go against a SU-27 with different Fox-2s. I had so much fun I edited that mission and replaced the SU-27 with the SU-57. It is amazing how well the Gripen can keep up. With the Python-5. I can kill the 57 maybe 3 out of 5 times. I know the AI isn’t all that, even on the Ace difficulty I kept it at. But my god the Gripen is fun. Those Fox-2s also even the playing field. Guns only, I’d be eaten alive.

I must say longshot, from a couple years ago, you can so fluently explain what you are doing so that a novice, non-DCS player can keep up very well. And your camera work has such nice action shots *chefs kiss* bravo! This was a great fight and a great video, and I hope you are still enjoying playing and documenting your fights on DCS.

I love the Su-27, the way it feels and responds to inputs, it just feels "right". I fly the MiG-29 the best though, that thing feels like it was made for me.

A couple of years ago, something like this actually happened. China and Thailand had maneuvers and they had these jets against each other. China came with some Flanker variant (don't remember which one) and Thailand with Gripen. First they did dogfights and Flanker absolutely dominated. However, when they practiced BVR engagements, the situation changed completely and now Gripen dominated totally. Partially, the reason was, as stated, poor reactions and anti-missile maneuvering by Chinese pilots who seemed clueless to what to do and their reliance on ground crews in control centers to tell them...

At the Baltic Gripen / Flanker engagements are quite common, because Russian jets like to check how western skies look like. 😅 Hungarian Gripen pilots reported that in many cases the bandits are friendly, they waving and leave, however there were some pilots who were “unprofessional”. Luckily, by far no one pulled the trigger there.

Gripen has the greater aerodynamic design from all the delta-canard brothers. One of the big diferences is in its tail, it has a very tapering design towards the nozzle, and that gives it a huge decrease in drag over lets say the Rafale. the design is so low drag that it compensates the lower thrust that it has, it wouldn't be able to supercruise otherwise. Now if that didn't increaso so much more weight and also didn't mess up with the nozzle shape, imagine if it actually had thrust vectoring? That would be a menace in dogfights. By the way the first round was awesome, incredible flying from the both of you!!!

F18 and su 27 have the best aroedynamics they good low speed and also rate well like su 27 despite Low twr isnt tow far from f15 in rate but pure deltas are only good in a straight line and are trash aroedynamically when conering losing loads of speed it doesn't matter as much tho since delta designs are usually very lightweight with a lot of speed like the mirage m2000

I would say that all aircraft are either overperforming or the Gripen mod is underperforming. A delta wing can't be less agile than a non delta wing.

The su-27 does have a delta wing… ish. The leading edge extension (the hood shape in front of the wing) has a delta like shape, and aerodynamically does the exact thing that makes delta wings agile, making vortexes over the wings, this produces a lot of lift. Additionally, you can see that the main wings of the su-27 are similar to a mig-21s wings, in their delta like shape, the difference being that it has elevator instead of canards. You can see a similar configuration on the f-15, which explains why the f-15 has surprising maneuverability. You can also see leading edge extensions on many modern day fighters, explaining how they exhibit many maneuvers that you may not expect a non delta wing to be able to do, this includes mig-29, f-16, f-18, and su-27.
