APEX PCs: apexpartner.app/redirect/Growling-Sidewinder Thank you guys for watching, as always keep in mind the mods you see in these videos are based off of highly classified aircraft and are therefore modeled using only publicly available information, and therefore do not represent the true capabilities of the aircraft, but this is the best we can simulate with the information available to the public.
Great flight again! Regardless of the Mods, The knowledge of kinetics, radar and the system's / platform's provided is more important than "reality", and yes I have debated on a few videos the reality of some of the mods. GR's knowledge of these items, based on many videos from many sources, is second to none, in fact second is out of BVR. Your knowledge of the platforms shows some SERIOUS time in them. I'm curious - just how MANY hours do you have in them and how many studying Tac View tapes.... It has to be in the Thousands if not more.
@Zechariah Goldsworthy LOL That would be cool, I would REALLY LOVE to see a Spitfire, P 51 vs a F22 - Guns and Heat seekers / then Guns only / BUT with a HARD ceiling of 5K
Sindwinder 9x and the corresponding aiming system on a P51 Mustang that would be fun. So I wouldn't be surprised if it won every 10 kilometer dogfight.
If that last F18 had watched any Growling Sidewinder, he would have known that once you merge, you're committed to the fight as extending is just an invitation to take a Fox-2 up the ass.
As a former tanker I always thought fighter jet combat would be a lot more exciting than tank engagements but I suppose this type of long range fighting is the norm.
well, it's not usually this braindead, since in the Su 57 you have the hilariously unfair advantage of picking the engagement start conditions. Usually both sides start with full knowledge of the adversary and there's a lot more interplay and back and forth with missiles fluing back and forth and both sides alternately defending and attacking
If it was the Hornets would have covered him up in AMRAAMs, also if they're going to give the Su-57 the K-77M vaporware missile, they can at least give the Super Bugs the 120D, which unlike the K-77M, already exists, in numbers.
Feel very fortunate to have seen the Felon at MAKS. It appears to be not entirely stealthy but extremely manoeuvrable and very powerful. Avionics is where the west have the advantage along with pilot training at the moment I think!
THOSE SOUNDS THOUGH ! ! ! ! MOST AWESOME SONIC BOOM FLY-BY'S . We just need the corresponding Vapor shock cone effect to go with it ! ! That's what I really wish DCS would add is those mach cones that form right at transition to supersonic flight.
OK, you've done SU 57 V F22 in a merge, you've done SU 57 against F18 BVR -- when will you do SU 57 V F22 BVR and pit them in the regime they're designed for?
Usually you defend, but you could also commit to get into locking range/Rmax to throw a few missiles before defending. The Hornets had a number advantage so pushing is a little more viable methinks.
@@TheNicestPig looking at how GS defend against F-22 in a North Korean Mig-29 Fulcrum suggest that they should've defended immediately. I wonder if staying in formation like that is a legit strategy, seems like a death sentence after what we have seen here.
@@sety5591 If they pushed in enough for one of them at least to get a lock, then they'd force him to stay defensive by just drowning him in Ace Combat quantities of missiles. Can't evade all of them. They made a risky bet, and it didn't play out.
Does the Felon also have stealth radar? That's amazing, not a single F18 got a warning and decided to defend before the missile was halfway up their ...
track while scanning mode is a default with most modern radars guides the missile most of the way there before turing on the missles radar and it guides itself in
@@GM-fh5jp It probably was dead before it could pitbull, given that the guy that fired it died 4 seconds after launching and that was at 40 miles. Not enough time for the missile to get its full stride, and get to the range where it goes pitbull and tracks the aircraft itself. Plus at that point, GS was notching it.
Hey, GS, I've got a question for ya! A while back, I suggested the use of a turn reversal to deny your bandit lead before they get a gunshot opportunity. In a different video you addressed that and basically said it wouldn't work... I was wondering, if it's not too much trouble, if you could demonstrate or test that at some point? Either way, your videos are great man, keep being awesome
video made me happier than a kid in a candy store back in 1995 LOL Loved this video GS! Amazing editing as always! The fact you locked them all up and sent missiles down the path before they even got you on radar is a testament to the Su-57 capabilities as a fighter..and that dominant dogfight against the F-18 just sealed the deal..he actually tried to run LOL... if he had watched any GS videos he would have known "if you run, you eat a Fox-2 up the wazoo"
I had a similar encounter in CMO last week. My six F-15E with heavy A2A loadout vs 2 Su-57 Felons. The F-15s managed to get a few missiles off but failed to shoot down even one before all six were killed.
Thanks for making these videos. It’s really nice content. This scenario seems plausible to happen over Finland. May we see another one with Su-57 vs Gripens please? Like a sneak attack on a two ship of Baltic air policing Gripens - followed by an intercept of four more Gripens chasing the Felon.
@@Chevalier1632 well the felon was facing away from hangman, and hangman was probably flying sea level making it hard to appear on radar, plus he probably fired a fox 2, and as we see in the engagement between maverick and the su 57 before, it doesn't have warning sistems agaisnt it
@@Chevalier1632 aircraft radar only faces forward, not behind them or to the side. If the radar dish spun 360° then the pilot would be getting radiation poisoning constantly. Missile detection systems work on radar guided missiles, not infrared missiles. The only way to defend against it is to anticipate your adversary, and cut your engines to reduce your heat signature while maneuvering and throwing flares. That's if you even know your adversary is there. If not, say goodnight. That's the reason why so many pilots like Fox 2's.
@@Mike_Romeo maybe, idk the Su-57 stealth tech is inferior to the f22s and you never know when they might actually end up in a bvr fight but its probably not possible. If Gs makes a f22 bandit unknown video then maybe that would be intresting if the bandit was a 57.
I agree on the first but the second is not true. Last year they've got serial production started and there are about 50 T14 finished. I can't remember how many there are planned but i think it was 2500 by 2030/2035
That last F/A 18 manage his own pretty well, idk why he hasn't switch to guns if all out of AIM 9-X, that would be an amazing all-out dog fight against the Felon.
Can you please fly an Su-57 against the F-35? It would be great to see more content with you flying the Felon! Also it would be very fun to see a try with an I-16 against the Su-57.
I’d like to see possible future likely situation with 4 super hornets with a pair of f-35s . It seems like a likely situation within the next couple years
According to an article I read around the release of Top Gun: Maverick, as per American military experts, Russia is actually having a lot of trouble with the Su-57 and its true capabilities are currently not any better than an F-18. It looks like DCS portrays what the Su-57 is meant to be as opposed to what it actually is. I guess we won't really know unless they're faced in combat.
Stealth will always have an advantage over a non-stealth aircraft like the F-18 in a BVR engagement, don't kid yourself. Anyways, I'd like to see how the J-20 does in a similar fight to this one.
'Not any better' is such a nothing burger of a statement yet people are eating them up like testament from god. Like in what area is it 'better'? Availability, reliability, or capability?
Great Content as always! First thing I watched when I got home from work! I really love this scenario since the realism seems more in depth here. Launching long range ordinance as the situation allows then engage anyone that manages to survive is what I usually interpret as a decent combat strategy. As much as I love CQB dogfights, I feel like it would be a waste to rush into close engagements with a fully loaded belly and get shot down; wasting all that unused ordinance. Also, did those Super Hornets detect those incoming missiles? Do the missiles have stealth tech? I could be mistaken but I did not see any Super Hornets try to launch flares/chaff to counter? Thanks again! GL HF! :D
Sorry there is no countermeasures for this missile, those missile are active radar means (it is shoot/fire and forgot) and even that it has higher range than any medium range missile had it, so there is way, only way is to dodge those missile at the same time it reaches you. But remember those missile speed can reach upto Mach 5 or more than that. But when it comes to BVR match there is an very less survivability for the pilot to dodge those missile and even this missile might or will kill the pilot for sure. After all the speed and the warhead of this speed will definitely kill pilot.
Bro… awesome video!!! BVR and a merge! A little bit disheartening though… can you please do multiple felon vs multiple lightning or raptors bvr! If it ends in a merge it does 🤷🏼♂️
What are you using for head tracking, and more importantly is it even worth playing DCS without it? It seems like massively fundamental and also like it would be awfully difficult to fairly fight someone who has it if you don't.
In advance, thank you for this video. As always top. I'm a fan of DCS myself and for some years now I've had the feeling that Russian aircraft have been given a little too much handicap. All the more impressive I find your objectivity and your skill that hides the programmed superiority a bit.
@@nesseihtgnay9419 Yes I know - but most people think DCS is a Russian software and believe it the other way around. Most don't know that DCS has existed in Switzerland for a long time and employs 150 multinational people.
God damn overkill much although that last guy narrowly missed with 2 9xs or aamrams and I thought he had you with a gun solution but just didn’t have them selected but maybe he was out of plain either way that was pretty good piloting at the end on both parts until he committed suicide trying to ditch out, like that ever works especially not when a felon is on your 6
The last guy did Trimendous work to actually avoid being hit by a 5th gen fighter fox 3, and merge ........ did quite well after the merge too...... Awesome flying until the Run away Butterflies kicked in and he decided to be a target practice for the last fox 2 for the felon. It's like doing everything right while cooking the most exotic dish but getting cold feet while Garnishing and throwing the dish away 🤷🏻🤦🏻😝😝😝
