I'm a JSU song but SU does give this song justice. It's a nice cranking song for any band I'm glad the two best bands in the SWAC (JSU & SU) play this song. "No one band can have all that POWER!" lol
the beginning sounded a little rough, not sure if it was a timing issue or just the volume of all that brass in the way, but it was great! when yall turned n blew at 1:18 i was like damn.....
The thing is...JSt. folks are so caught up in this one song. There are handful"S" of other songs that Jax35 ain't fugg'n with AT ALL. This is what happens when SU is crease'n your favorite song out of your own book. You tend to only focus on this one arse-buss'r.
What Im trip'n on...is why does it matter when SU pulled out "Power"? It ain't like they didn't come out the gate crease'n. Every year, SU has songs they don't have to pull out til' a good 3, 4 weeks after LaborDay. So, why is this year different? I know why? (lol) Cuz, JSt. thought they had gold...but, found out SU has platinum. And, even worse...SU didn't flash all the platinum, like that 1980's gold rope wearing band, and now some of them are upset...lol.
The snare hits at the beginning threw me off it sounded out of timing with the rest of the band but good job on actual POWER but JSU will always beat SU on sound quality, and I will take quality over power

JSU a good powerful band, and our main rival. They just haven't been good enough to top, or dethrone Southern in sound or drilling the field! All of them young Directors at SU won't allow it to happen! Back in my marching days, GSU was our main competitor! Now it's JSU. I will give JSU their props if they were to ever out play or out march SU. As of today, it just hasn't happen yet, and that's the plain truth! #OftenImitatedNeverDuplicated!
@phssu evry where people im tired of hearing lsu can blow out southern ok lsu got over 500 members and got southerns song neck in which lsu sound good and if they had beter arrangements they would be a nice band and some colored people in there band yeah lsu would be on point but dam.......... if southern had over 500 members many people would go deaf........ the impact would be worser than any hurricane lol

Musically Southern is more accurate than JSU. But I ain't gonna lie, JSU sounds GOOD!! But i have to standing right there when they battle it out on the 16th to see who is better.
I remember all the talk after this clip hit the internet in the fall. Then they came to Jackson with this, GOT SMASHED by JSU and thrown out the stadium. smh
@DTex ...Ps- Please stop lying to folks, by telling them SU ran and wrote a song because of Jax35. That is the dumbest/most hilarious thing in the world. But, I guess you'd have to know the history of both schools to know just how ludicris that idea is. Point blank...much like the many other songs....this has BEEN in SU's folder. Wonder why other schools don't get accused of copying "Power"? Most bands posted theirs after Jax35 ran to the message boards with their "Power" clips wk1.
I believe this is a good arrangement but those trumpets need to get it together. I know you like to scream just about every note you play but if you're known for playing like that you should at least have practiced not hanging over on those notes. Once again it's a good arrangement but those trumpets need to work on not hanging over. If you're looking for the part i'm talking about just look at the intro.
Wonder how it would sound without all Animation. Real POWER doesn't require it just stand there and blow. The midget trumpet player in the middle makes me laugh. One would thing he's playing for the whole section. Starting to notice that this ride the wave animation is a swac disease, old SU and ASU didn't have to do it. Garbage total sewer, landfill garbage.

@TheDragonmaster18 No, JSU played it first on them when they were on the field getting ready for the field show (Jackson BOTB). In retalation, they played this song multiple times against JSU at the JSU vs SU game. They've been playing it ever since...
@joshdphenom yea i know them for screaming but i also know them for screaming in the wrong places...the beginning was one of those wrong places...and yea my Band Director is from SU(he played tuba) and he told me they had the same ones for years...
just my opinion...but i think this is way overdone, and not in a good way. if you actually listen to the full song of power you can tell that the second melody is completely wrong. i love SU but this wasn't their best arrangement...
@TheShinthehedgehog with a 7C i can easyly play a C³.... today after working i played on a Buffon Trumpet with a 1 1/2 C mouthpiece a F, Fis and G³ with control... and i dont play every day, but 21 years now hehe... its all about training.
@multiflyguy09 this sounds better than JSU's arrangement and you can't "bust" someone in the back of the head with something when they are lined up to march on the field, that took NO class from JSU, i was ashamed as a Jacksonian
@ALLMIGHY100 from what folks in the Boom say, SU director was talkin shit n JSU's wasnt goin lol. Its a BOTB, hell anything could happen and I wuldnt say a kid move but more of a F*ck Southern" move LOL. SU arrangement is poo. They doin way to much in it.
@multifyguy09 - I don't see how SU playing this song would be swagger jacking honestly. JSU played it on them in Jackson, but this (contrary to what people are making it look like) doesn't sound like JSU's. Just my opinion on that.
@rashadc7 i agree wholeheartedly!! Power never fades it keeps going this is what i call killer instincts lol the intensity is unmatched im an Aggie but im sorry this is the intensity that fuel's the soul!
@20anteezy cause when they hang over it shows that they r screaming but some songs it sound good but some it dont and it has a effect of getting people crunk i know ive heard lol
