This was an interesting match between these two great school. A hefty amount of people say JSU were the winners in this classic, I think differently. The only thing JSU had over SU was size and arrangements that were to the liking of the crowd. Although SU didn't have the size, the sound quality was matched in my opinion. I declare SU the winners
I like how animated the directors get for The JBox.. It really helps them look like they are doing more then they are.. I respect the Box Luv The Boom.
i grew up watching j-state and i can truly say that even when the boom is louder than southern, su's arrangements and swag is usually bettter than the booms. i guess at the end of the day its about what style you like better.
@daburtonboizay at the high school botb in jackson two weeks prior......su showed up...when SU was about to start their field show JSU blew power on them. and later on Mr. J got on the mic and said jsu and mr murray has no class. this game was heated before it started.
I WAS AT THIS GAME N MY OPINION: IMA FAN OF BOTH BANDS. SU SOUND IS SO CONTROLLED ITS LIK NONE OTHER. THEY START THEIR SONG POWERFUL AND ITS DA SAME THROUGHOUT THE SONG NOT JUS CERTAIN PARTS, THE INTENSITY AND EVERYTHING BEING THT THEY ARE VERY SMALL DIS YEAR STILL PACK A PUNCH. JSU: WAS SO LOUD TIL IT WAS HARD TO HEAR THE MELODY, SOMETIMES THE TRUMPETS GOT LOST IN THE POWER OF THE LOWER BRASS BUT U CAN TELL THE TRUMPETS WAS HYPE DUE TO THE FREQUENT HANGOVERS AFTER EVERY SONG
look both bands are good. im sick of this trash talking i understand its a rivalry but lets not disrespect each other. i like both bands and both are good in my opinion. now my favorite is Southern and its because i like their feild shows

They swore up and down they would handle the Boom after JSU ripped them a new one at that botb in Jackson and the fact of the matter is they came back 2 weeks later to get blown over to Bosnia. 2010 is over. No need to be degrading TheGetalife23, its my opinion, which is something im entitled to. Both schools did a great job, however, i feel that SU has a slight edge over JSU... Has been like that for years. Unlike alot of people who simply comment because they're bias, i logic behind my reasons.
Look SU is always gonna have hatred but Sonic Squeak fans can't say nothing here are five reasons. 1: SU gets cheers when they perform all of 2010 JSU play get ready with the dame designs everygame. 2: If it wasn't for SU, then the city of jakcson would tell y'all to find a new stadium because of your lack of revenue. 3: If JSU is so good why didn't they ask SU to face FAMU in the Atl Classic and not JSU why cause JSU can't bring it like SU.

SU blows out JSU every year. SU outperforms JSU on the field every year. SU just flat out has the best marching band in the nation. JSU is in the top 10.

Man SU sucks! The director for SU think he on 'Drumline" like J.Anthony J,lol.JSU is way better,cause they make sure they top all other bands.For those who dont know music,u have highs and lows.even i know that,lol.
@maddtrumpetin.....im sorry friend but you cant be a fan of both band.. its like saying i love heaven and hell lol.. jackson being hell... the reason i say that is because as a school, they are mad.. SU never start the fight, she has to much class for that, but she finish it... for years jackson has cryed about SU blowing them out with all the power they have, go back and read the clips for 2000 to 07... in 08 jackson started swag jacking.. they got louder but not better.
It's funny how we got them to skip out on warming up first. From someone who was apart of this battle, SU sound was hitting the ground. The student section was even saying it, that's why they was as hype as they was when we played swoop. They smelled blood too lol

In boredom to the lack of creativity of their shows. 5: JSU is just little SU look they can play the same music, get a bigger band, attempt to make the same arrangements but they will never out blow, out show, and out look the Human Jukebox cause the S on their chest let's you know that they're the best.

@madtrumpet - You say SU plays its music powerfully from start to finish. That's not good musicianship. In music there should be dynamic contrast (rises, falls, highs, lows, etc.). Simply blasting the whole song is nothing to rave about. JSU is playing too loud and sloppily. The attacks, and especially the releases on some of the high notes are really poor. Again that's poor technique and musicianship. All that said, I still love SU.
@finesexymama Thats a lie and u know it. The only difference from this game a previous ones is some upperclassmen trombonist came back from getting kicked out for hazin.....I march for the boom so i know.
