Here’s a quick rundown going over my V2 sportshift harness for the Subaru 4EAT platform. Primarily the GD and SG chassis. If you’re interested in more information about this setup please feel free to reach out to me or check out my other videos.
The specific TCU needed for adding sportshift to your Subaru will be covered in a separate video. In short, it depends on what type of plugs your TCU has, and if your trans came with a MPT or VTD center differential. Other things like Turbo vs. NA, and VDC (traction control) vs. Non-VDC can also be factors when sourcing the correct sportshift programmed TCU from other countries outside the US.
The paddle shifter referenced in this video is part number 83156AG000.
Fitting paddles to a GD or SG require a new steering column cover to compensate for the width of the paddle assembly (34341AG080JC), and a new clock spring housing for mounting the paddles (83119AG010). A small amount of trimming of the plastic on both of these parts is required, which I have included in the directions for this kit.
