Signal bulbs used to be a lot simpler to change. This one seemed to be more difficult until I looked at your video! Your video was the best. Just knowing the battery had to be removed then it was a 1/2 turn counterclockwise made all the difference. Thank you. 10 minute job max.

ABSOLUTELY THE TICKET FOR HOW TO CHANGE THESE BUGGERS OUT! Heck yeah man. Thank you SO MUCH for the incredibly helpful video. My low beam was not nearly as easy to get to as yours showed to be, but both the high beam and turn signal ARE accessible from the battery compartment. For my Honey's 2011 Outback, I don't know why it is SO different than any other video I've watched here, but there is a good bit of steel body protruding over where the low-beam is, with only a narrow slit to act like a surgeon with two needlenosed pliers finagling the plastic screw cap off that covers the bulb access. Nonetheless, I didn't have to touch the wheel well disassembly method at all. :) Many thanks again! Really can't thank you enough. $16 at Carquest and a worthy little labor and it's done. Man, this rocks! I am most disappointed to find out the lifespan of these bulbs is so short.

It’s not as straightforward as some cars. The manual doesn’t tell you how, all it does is say bring it to a Subaru dealer because risk of shock etc etc

Hey, your doing this the ulra hard way...A lot easier to go in through the wheel well! Turn you wheel in...pop liner (if you still have them...these cars are notorious for eating front wheel liners)...reach in...twist bulb harness 90 degrees...remove old bulb...replace...remount...seal liner....done...5 MINUTES!!!👍

Yikes! The service manual instructions are much easier and don't require tools or dismantling the car. (1) Turn the front tire away inward from the light (e.g. turn right to reach left front turn bulb and visa-versa). (2) Fold back the mud guard. This is a little tricky. I had to pry open a seam along the body edge. The mud guard is plastic or rubber and will bounce back into shape. (3) If you use a flash light or your phone light, you can see the approximate location of the bulb holder -- next to the large headlight cover. I reached in and felt for the wires and twisted the bulb holder off -- a one-quarter counter-clockwise turn. There's enough slack in the wiring to pull the bulb holder out and replaced the bulb -- wearing gloves to protect the new bulb.

We paid too much to have the dealer change the last burned out bulb. Yes, removing the battery is a pain, but it's not complicated, and I've got the time, so thanks for the instructions.

Awesome as usual with all your impreza videos! I'm preparing to change my left fog light. The glass lense of the left fog light got cracked from a rock on the highway so I ordered a replacement glass unit and two sylvania 9006 bulbs. Cheers and happy new year 2021 !

Helloo, first let me say thank you for this video it saved me alot of money ! , how ever i have a problem, my low beam light bulbs on my 06 sub impreza 2.5i SOHC keep burning out ,, i suspect it is the harness or something more then just a bulb , can you make a video showing how to replace the harness? thank you.

Nice, I have to do this. Do you have a video for the fog light for 2006 subaru outback stereo? And I'm having issues with the back wiper and washer wires. I looked at the wire connection and I see 2 wires are cut. Please advice.

You can replace the turn signal bulb without removing the battery, just a heads up for those only needing to change that bulb. Just changed it on the 2022 outback (crosstrek).

Hey question not sure if I can get any help here, I just put a set of LED low beams and highbeams in my Subaru, I believe same year/model as yours. Whenever I disengage the parking brake the highbeams automatically are turned on at full blast almost with the rest of my lights still off, though when I turn on my headlights the highbeam turns off and works normally again. Is this an issue with the DRL? The company sent me a canbus and that didn’t solve the issue. Anybody know a fix? Thanks!

Sometimes you'll get access by turning the steering wheel completely left (or right) and removing the bulb from the bottom.

Just rotate it. I believe it's counter-clockwise. All you need is maybe 30 degrees of movement.

When the battery is disconnected, don't you need to keep a computer memory voltage plugged in somewhere?

Ryan, did you ever get an answer? I have a 2014 and the low beam is gone. There is a piece of metal body to the right of the cap that covers the bulb and I cannot turn the cap far enough to pop it off. I have no idea how to get the dam cap off now.

GypsyShellie, not sure if you're still looking for an answer for this. I was able to get to the low beam bulb on my 2013 from the battery, but it was a major pain. Very little room to work with (as you said) and you have to do it largely by feel. The hardest part for me was actually getting the cap back on.

Couldn’t you just remove the front wheel, pull the plastic cover back and reach up to remove the driver’s side blinker bulb?

Absolutely. However, it can be quite difficult to do so and I wanted to show an alternative.

CarsNToys, I literally just changed the front driver’s side blinker bulb on my 2013 WRX in about three minutes. Step one: turn the wheel so it’s facing in. Step two: unlock three plastic fasteners. Step three: pull back wheel well cover. Step four: reach in and unlock bulb. Step five: replace bulb. Step six: refasten plastic fasteners. Done.

"Dielectric" means electrically isolant... You're supposed to use that to ISOLATE electricity sources from foreign stuff, not directly on the connecting points.

Don't do it this way. Search WRXHowTo and they will show you a much easier way. I did the change in 5 - 7 minutes at the most using only 1 flat head screw driver.

Seems like _everything_ in Subaru is made to make your life difficult. Changing sparks, bulbs, even air filter(!) requires enormous work with screwdriver and even then you cannot access things easily! Horrible car. :(

Daite Dve lol so true.. My passenger side turn signal went out. I'm trying to change the bulb and I'm going thru hell to do it. Tiny ass screws to remove the air filter tray and its in an awkward position
