2024 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid POV test drive in the city roads. The model is replacing Subaru XV. The part of the video is accelerated - so it sounds quite interesting. Also there are different roads and a little bit of dirty road.
Im glad to see this was being driven normally. A lot of Subaru reviews with the CVT have drivers flooring the accelerator when joining motorways, revs going up to the redline with the engine making far too much noise. You did it perfectly, I watched the rev counter going no higher than about 4k, at a guess, yet the car picked up speed effortlessly, no problem. Ive had three Subarus, the CVT is a great transmission and not designed for heavy acceleration. People forget it needs to catch up with engine speed, its an artform getting used to it but once you master it, all is good. I know they have reduced the power from 148bhp to 134bhp I think, but they have improved the dynamics. Quick enough for its purpose. I think it must be to do with emissions I think the reason behind it.
We won't be offered the e-boxer made by Subaru here in America. We get some toyota tech with a boxer engine here till about 2027 for hybrids, which is what it's looking like. And our EVs are Toyota Mashups as well. I was excited to see a New Gen Crosstrek that is Left Hand Drive that has the e-boxer setup. Where are you from? 😀
This review is in Sweden. The US made Subarus have more powerful engines than we get in Britain and Europe due to different emissions regulations. We have the hybrid here because it’s the only way they can keep emissions down and get a bit more power from the electric motor. We have the Outback with the 2.5 but manufacturers need to supply other cars in the range with lower emissions or they face financial penalties.
