The Subaru would not have done it anywhere near that is easy without a rear diff locker it would have struggled other RU-vidrs have struggled doing that diagonal test and failed especially if they have this CVT rubbish that they put in nowadays
The Subaru did great but one thing this reminds us is that the best sway bar is no sway bar. I'm sure if they removed the sway bars from the Subaru it might have gotten up more easily. But that would get rid of some of the appeal of a Subaru which is how it drives very well off road and on the road.
There's another guy on here that kits out a Forester and removes the sway bar and claims due to the other suspension modifications, there's no difference in on road performance at any speed. Again, he modified the suspension and replaced it with an Iron-Man 2 inch lift kit.
Hi, i have also a forester sg 2.5xt manual. Probably yours is an automatic, but what else has been changed in the transmission/software to help it react so quickly to not spinning the wheels? '
Hi dude, I have an automatic transmission, all the changes that I made for it are irrelevant for you, because I tried to get closer to the 50-50 torque distribution like you have on the manual gearbox, the rear differential lock will help you
@santombi, the downfall of your SG Forester manual trans is the weak center diff. It is 50:50, but the viscous LSD isn't strong enough to limit the front/ rear slip. If you ran the sti 20kg center diff, it would help. Since Subaru don't have a low enough gear, craw speeds and and rock crawling is at the mercy of your clutch. The best mod you can do to a 5spd is the rear diff locker. If you don't mind swapping in center differentials, get a spare center diff welded and stick it in before off road events.
If Subaru had solid axle on frame designs... holy crap. No denying how good the articulation is in those circumstances. So the Jeep looked far easier and safer than others.
@Not Dave Yes, I have mine removed on a '20 OB XT with a 2" Ironman 4x4 ATS kit. I've experienced massive improvements to suspension articulation. When this dude was tripoding his SH, I saw very little give on the suspension. No, I don't have any experience with the SH and I don't have any idea what kind of suspension he's running either. Long story short, I agree that it was very ignorant of me to assume that what I've experienced with my BT was an accurate representation of how this guy's SH should be performing. I didn't mean to rub you the wrong way, big dawg.
It has a diff locker which has made a lot of difference when the vehicle is on two wheels it will always be able to drive over the obstacle providing the CVT doesn't overheat if the rock is too big
WOAH!! Now I’m really glad I have 2016 forester. I wouldn’t have the courage to tackle that limb though lol That is just beyond belief. Well done indeed! What year was that forester? Overall those drivers looked like they had a blast whatever they were driving!
Boring gutless cheaply made Family designed cute Subie. So many better brands to go off-roading with why choice a cute family oriented Subie Jeeps are made by Maserati now. Look at a Maserati Leviante and a jeep cherokee their the same thing and the Maserati is a $100k luxury car. All the same tech in a wrangler now with the Ferrari designed 2.0T look it up and don’t drive a boring Subaru
Jeeps suck on the highway and in the city. Subaru don't. Subaru's aren't intended to wheel, but they're put to the challenge by some. They're having fun, that's all that matters.
