I had a 2022 86 Base back in March 22. Sold it to get a 2023 86 Premium. Then eventually sold it again. Great cars but now I have a 17 sti and I’m a happier camper.
Sorry to hear man! This car is such a great platform and still enjoying my GR86. Cant believe the dealer did you dirty like that, but a lesson to be learned for sure. If you convert your "newish" modded car, back to stock for resale/trade-in, don't leave any indication that could lead to your social media pages. Whats more upsetting is 1) They never asked you if it had been modified, and 2) The car has all OEM parts on it, no codes, and runs perfectly. That is frustrating. that's honestly so sad to hear, I have a new wrx in the gta and if a Subaru dealership did that to me I would be very upset. they sound like scammers and that's just not how you do business at all, so sorry about that, only up from here keep making great videos and much support to you !!
Crazy story, definitely can’t trust many dealerships but glad you ended up with the better set of ppl at the other dealership 🙌🏾 can’t wait to see the fit and ek builds this year
I ended up selling my GR86 with 26K miles 10 track days and lots of fun as is in private sale for $26K since I only owed $19K to the loan when i paid it off i took home $7k which is what i had put as a downpayment. I will miss that car dearly but I could not justify keeping it if i was going to potentially blow up from track use.
there have only been 12 confirmed cases of engine failure due to oil starvation which all had co-morbidities and likely had been mechanically over-revved by downshifting too early. if you use good oil, heavier than 0w20, and change it before and after a track day (as you should on any car) you will not have an issue unless you money shift.

I was in the same scenario im moving overseas and could only take one car and I had my son. So I needed a 4 door instead of my 2 door BRZ. So I got a WRX. I love it but I miss my BRZ. Everyone talked trash in the car when it first came out but I feel like people are starting to love the GR86 BRZ now

If its the same dealer where he got it from in older videos - I've been there because I'm actually in the market for a new BRZ......I wasn't too impressed with their salespeople tbh. I just got some bad vibes.

That initial dealership sounds pretty annoying. They didn't even want to put their money where their mouths are. So happy everything worked out better than you expected! But definitely going to miss the BRZ
Was selling my 2015 Si to a Honda dealership in Toronto last year. They saw the whole ad with a description of all modifications on the car, made an offer to mewhich I accepted. When I drove an hour to the dealership they claimed they “did not know it was modified” even though I had stated it was AND had shown pictures beforehand. They then decreased their offer, I was so upset I just took my keys and walked out. Dealerships are the worst
when they ask if a car is modified, they mean ever, and claiming it had was not modified was absolutely a lie on your part (im not judging, fuck a dealership). also, returning a car to stock is also technically modifying, and they CAN take you to court over it. honestly, your downfall was not making your channel private or hiding all BRZ content before trying to get this trade done. my paranoid ass would have lol.
They can't take you to court... When you sell them a car or trade one in. No where you sign does it say they can take legal action if you modified your car... At least not in Canada

Another thing you have to remember is content cars are a thing. Nothing really has came out besides header, exhausts, intakes, and coilovers. Outside of that there hasn’t been anything else outside of some other suspension stuff. Yeah his BRZ is a second car, but if you aren’t driving it and just making payments, what’s the point of keeping it unless you REALLY like it? The Ek is more logical to keep at that point. Can make more vids on it, bigger aftermarket, etc. Especially for $100? I would have sold the BRZ too and pocketed the monthly payments I was giving.
