Subaru's 2024 New Impreza Sports Bigger Screens And Hatchback Only Styling

Subaru's Impreza has returned for 2024 but it's lost the sedan body and the manual transmission. If you didn't know it already, this is basically the less-offroady Crosstrek with the two Subies sharing bodies and doors with one another. The Crosstrek is the pragmatic option with the suspension lift and body cladding and the Impreza is the road-focused AWD model.

Sadly learned that the manual was discontinued for 2024. Nothing can be more engaged and fun than driving a manual. It is also convinced to be safer as we are more in control when driving one since I have been driving with a manual for more than 35 years and likely not to give up on the 2024 Crosstrek. Save the manual.
@flurpoid

Highly disagree on safer, there is simply too much margin for error. A driver inexperienced with a MT could easily stall pulling out into traffic, creating an unpredictable obstacle for other road users. MTs are mad fun for spirited driving, but calling them "safer" is a huge huff of the copium.

Disappointed that Subaru isn't going harder into hybrids; with the price and availability of hybrids so accessible these days, it's causing Subaru to fall behind in fuel economy, which is a shame since that used to always be one of their main calling cards. AND Subaru has access to Toyota's HSD due to Toyota owning 10% of them. With the current gen Crosstrek hybrid (plug-in), I found myself asking: " why does the battery raise the rear cargo floor like a 2013 Ford C-Max? @@EscapementWatch I agree. Small hatchbacks that try to give a lot of headroom, legroom and cargo space all end up looking boxy and bland. They are exceedingly reliable vehicles if they are well taken care of, I would go as far as to say they are far more reliable then new Honda's now. Honda has been having a fair amount of issues with their new turbo engines and CVT's. Subaru's CVT's are vary reliable because they are chain driven instead of belt driven like Honda and Nissan products. Without question Subaru, Mazda, and Toyota are all drop dead reliable and if you treat them well they will EASILY pass 200k miles with little to no fuss. Honda, Nissan, Hyundai/KIA, VW are fun zippy little affordable cars but don't plan on keeping the newer one's past 100k miles if your not ready for habitual maintenance to quickly hit, (ESPECIALLY if they have a turbo engine past 100k miles, sell that pos while it still funs and is worth something) It's a shame, most people think of Honda and they think of how they where made in the 1990-2000's... People also get baited into buying Hyundai/KIA because they see the 10 year warranty and fall into a false sense of safety, not realizing they practically need to take any KIA dealership to court to get them to actually honer the damn thing. I see people come into my shop all the time with 2016-2020 turbo Honda and KIA's, burning oil, leaking gaskets, blow head gaskets, cracked headers... Especially in the 1.5L Turbo Civic and Accords, their new Trubo's are literally falling apart 3x faster then their V6's from the early 2000's ever did!!! I honestly feel guilty whenever I see a family come in with one that's out of warranty. Do your self a favor: Subaru, Toyota, Mazda. Stick to those golden 3 and you'll be fine.

RIP Sedan, but it's a very handsome hatchback. Hits mostly all the right checkboxes for a practical, go anywhere family car.

I’d probably throw my money at the RS later this year. The Crosstrek Sport and Forester are just too expensive with mark ups in my area. This looks to be ~$5k cheaper for a comparable trim and functionality.

It's good but it badly needs a more powerful engine. 2.5 litre should be the base engine.
@afcgeo882
@afcgeo882 Год назад
The 2.5 is significantly more expensive to build than the old 2.0, which would raise the base price by a lot and make the car less competitive. Look at the Corolla and Civic. They both sport very similar output 2.0s as well.

Don't know why Subaru gets it backwards. Hatchback for the base car instead of the performance model and sedan for the performance car instead of the base car. I loved my years gone Subie WRX hatchback.

No spare tire, hopefully that's in preparation for US hybridization. I get not hybridizing the US Crosstrek out of the gate, but the Impreza would have been a good introduction. But with how stale both are... I get wanting to get SOMETHING out there.

I will say they should have kept the Impreza sedan as well not everybody wants to WRX and I know they didn't sell that many of the Impreza sedans and what have you it was always basically the hatchback but sometimes you want some people might want the sedan you know I did basically the same car just different sheet metal I don't think it would have caused Subaru that much money to keep selling the sedan
@blackwhirlwind1245
@blackwhirlwind1245 Год назад
The price difference between the Impreza sedan and hatchback is merely 500 dollars, this is a no brainer for most people to go for the hatchback for practicality, besides, sedan is pretty much dying, except Honda, Toyota, and Korean twins, even Mazda isn’t selling that many sedans.
