Subaru's Entire Team Gets Destroyed By a Single Magnemite From Okayu [Eng Sub/Hololive]

The second Pokemon battle between Okayu and Subaru.
Subaru switched out Justin to put in a Ground type Pokemon. Shellos' evolution, Gastrodon, is a Water/Ground type, thus making it immune to electric attacks. So Subaru had the right idea, but her mistake was that she hadn't actually evolved it yet.

Shellos evolves into Gastrodon only at LV30, and considering her Ponyta, which has a much higher base speed than Magnemite, was underleveled, it was pretty much "What a cat does to a toy? The cat plays with it and feels amused. The -duck- toy is terrified by the cat"

From What i see i saw and with my expérience, Subaru chocked when she Switch on her Ponypony.. She should have sacrifice one of her pokemon then send her ponyta at full life, i think the ponyta would outspeed the magnetite and would have done heavy dammage with an fire move

Lol I actually believe Okayu's praise was genuine, despite disastrous team composition and level disadvantage, Suba was doing pretty good with what she had (if water pulse/double team/bite caused a confusion/miss/flinch, things could've got more interesting then). Can't wait to see the final showdown at the end of the game; forget Cynthia, Okayu's the real final boss for Subatoshi Ketchum!

I just love Okayu's laugh, and her voice in general. That and Subaru's cries of horror and despair are her precious pokemon are electrocuted over and over is just the perfect combination lol. Just the duality of them playing pokemon is hilarious. They're my fav Hololive pokemon clips/streams so far.

Don't you worry, once Justin comes back, this'll look much different. He's not actually in the box, but rather studying the ancient techniques up in the mountains. He's gonna come back in full prime, buffed enough that JoJo characters look weak, and with enough power to one shot anything that dares oppose him. Just you wait.

Subaru would make the best Gym Leader. Creates a team of one type that is demolished by a single weakness, but somehow is given a position of Gym leader despite obvious exploitable flaw.

Gym Leaders are meant to test trainers, so part of me feels, in-universe, the exploitable flaw is intentional. That being said, it'd make more sense if more Gym Leaders had counters for these weakness, like Water leaders using Ice type moves.

Honestly pretty impressed by subaru's growth to gravitate towards the few things that had a chance of working (double team and crunch) although she outsped with her starter so she probably should have just used that to begin with. Perhaps this battle will be a good lesson for her about how important speed is.

I think if Subaru doesn't want to change her team that much, she need to learn some coverage moves and holding useful items. While mono type team is not as good as team different types that can cover many types, you can still make it work to some extend.

It's weird hearing the Japanese name for Double Team. Kage Buushin is a phrase my brain knows well, and I knew that Double Team translated to that, but it just felt weird hearing it for once.
