A short install video of a genuine Subaru STI shift knob. It took two hands to "break" the seal on the oem one and get it to start turning. Resist the urge to use tools on it as you'll likely tear or rip the leather - just keep twisting: Lefty loosey, righty tighty.
It took 17 full rotations to remove the original one and 17 full rotations to install the new shift knob . *Rotations may vary depending upon your model year."

That's cool that the dealer replaced the factory one with an accessory one, I quite like the weight on the accessory one. What are you replacing it with?

I honestly tried looking for others but didnt have the weight description. Wanted one as heavy as this. Any recommendations?

@@Lunesta_XCIII It's all personal preference when it comes to shifters. I dont have any personal recommendations, but I sure like my DBZ dragon ball shifter I got from wish, even if it isn't weighted overly well.

Is there a stock or part # for that knob? Reckon it'll fit a 2012 STi?

I believe that it was part number "C1010FG411 ". I cannot confirm that it will fit a 2012 MY STI, though.

You could get a custom shifter. The threads would just have to be correct.

Is it basically the same on the 2021 WRX? Just got a base model and wanted to swap out the knob.

I do not know if it's the same on the Justy as it is the WRX's, I've never tried. But based on the other vehicles that I've swapped shift knobs on, it should be similar.

I don't see why it wouldn't, but you'd have to test fit to confirm.

It's on the smaller side. You should get one that fits your hand comfortably

i had a choice between 2 wrx's at the dealer one of them had some weird rearview mirror and this shift knob the catch was that car was 1200 dollars more than the one without it.. i bought the same shift knob for $120 and the mirror i didnt even want.. lol a mirror and knob for 1200 fuck that! 😂

The auto dimming mirror is worth its weight in gold, if you ask me. But yeah, 1200 more for a mirror and a shift knob is overkill.

@@eduardoa3165 That's interesting. The US must have a different option available than up here as our "Starlink Connected Services" are built into the roof, not the mirror. I guess it could have been the auto dimming mirror with Homelink system for garage doors.

@@TysonTheSubaruSpecialist yeah the salesman told me it was on the mirror, most cars in the US are like that. onstar is so outdated (2008 was a long time ago) for me though but yeah the mirror is $350 on their site and the knob is $120.. what a ripoff lol
