Hello I came across this video cuz I'm trying to add an image to a glass cup is there anything I can do to transfer the image cause for some reason I'm not getting anything transferring add something to the glass for the image to transfer? your help would be very much appreciated
2 questions: 1. Is there a clear vinyl that can be used instead of the white? 2. Can you do this same process with a cricut press? I do not have a press like the one displayed. Thank you for the information.
I've followed your technique using 651 and the Ikea lanterns. I made two memorial lanterns for family, and both have told me independently that the images are fading. I don't have the slightly clue why?
That’s why I’m here looking for any tips on how to keep it from fading. Always looks amazing for about a month and then within a couple months the image is almost unrecognizable. I was going to try to maybe spray the vinyl side with lacquer after it’s sublimated or spray the glass with subliglaze before applying the vinyl. The latter I think will work better it just might be more difficult to apply the vinyl after spraying it with subliglaze. Anyone else have any tricks on how to keep from fading?
This is nice, I did not realise we could sub onto Oracle vinyl. A have a question about the glass, I see u did not heat it up a bit before putting it under the press, does the shock of the heat not crack it. Im trying to do glass bricks with a picture on, now i see that can work but not press the glass brick because it cracks. what way do u think i can bond that to the brick. is the oracle naturally sticky as sticker vinyl or heat reacted like the regular vinals A tip that may help u, I use baking (or silicone) paper to put onver the print on easisub and other stuff to prevent sticking or transfer, u should try it in place of the paper, it will just lift off. Another thought i have is to make tea trays using that vinyl, it can glass can be cut to size, i think it will work.
I press the sub transfer paper direct onto the sticker by cutting out the shape and and printing with some bleed to help register. no need to stick the sticker onto the glass and then press it, Remove excess sticker from around the print area and press the sticker and transfer sheet between baking paper, wait till it cool then carefully peel the paper off when its cold to lift easier. Temp 350F for 25/30 sec. on drinking glasses u cannot put into a press because of the curves. Carefully line up and transfer the sticker onto the drinking glass. (Water may help to move the sticker into position. This method works well for me.
Hi Amina. I am no longer doing Sublimation. As far as using regular ink I do not believe this process will work. The Sublimation ink bonds at higher temp and pressure. Regular ink does not have the same properties.
What heat press are you using? Also, I see you have a cup press, what kind and what size cups can you do? Also, do you only use pre laminated cups or do you apply your own laminate to sublimation? If you apply your own, what do you use? Love the lantern, great gift.
There are lots of those small multifunction presses out there. I got mine on Ebay for $150. I like using it on small dye sub items as opposed to my big 16x20 press.
Hello Rob I have been creating the lanterns exactly how you do them with the same supplies as well. But I run into my pictures over time start to become blurry, cloudy or fading. Do you know what I could be doing wrong? I use the touch led light
Excellent tutorial! Thank you very much for all the info. Should you peel the paper off hot or will it be harder when it's cold? Thanks again!! 💙👏👍🏼💙👏👍🏼💙👏👍🏼💙
No, the reason to use vinyl is because it will sublimate through it and be visible on the other side. Glass works because it is transparent. For wood, you can use lamination film. Press lamination film onto wood. Once cooled, press the sublimation image on the laminated wood surface. For this one you have to mirror. You can search for videos on sublimation on wood using lamination film and you’ll have more info.
Great video. I learned a lot and just order some items on Amazon. I just need to know there are two sizes of the lanterns, by looking at the video these are small, what size photo do I print out? 5x7? Thank you so much for the wonderful tip.
I've been making the small ones and the small door is a 3w x 5h the big windows 4.5w x 5.5h long as the pics. Are not close up these measurements won't cut off any of the photo because of the little tirm the glass sits in .
i have tried over and over again and my picture does not come through on the glass as soon as I peel the oracle paper everything comes off. I have tried numerous times and temps HELP
When you say your pealing off the orical paper. Are you pealing the vinyl off the glass? The image doesn't transfer to the glass it stays in the vinyl. If you saying when you peal the paper with the image off there is no image on the vinyl its either not enough heat, not enough time or issue with the sublimation printing. I've not done any sublimation in over a year but will help where I can. You can also email me at thestarfinder@yahoo.com good luck.
Press it for longer times . I have to do my pressed on 400 for a total of 180 secs. But I do it in 60sec. Increments and check image after each press. 3 cycles brings my image in
What paper do you use for this? I tried 3 times and the paper I have seems to be the issue I think. It always ends up with wrinkles. Almost like the paper trapped moisture and it made pockets or air some how. There are no bubbles on the 651 when it goes in, then it comes out with wrinkles. I honestly think it's my paper
Hi. try use this method, might help u. Matthew Hutson 1 second ago I press the sub transfer paper direct onto the sticker by cutting out the shape and and printing with some bleed to help register. no need to stick the sticker onto the glass and then press it, Remove excess sticker from around the print area and press the sticker and transfer sheet between baking paper, wait till it cool then carefully peel the paper off when its cold to lift easier. thankyou for this i have been looking at those lanterns and been wanting to make a few things like this i never thought you could use standard white vinyl to sublimate on opens a world of ideas do you know if itll work with any white vinyl like metamark m7 or oracle only?
@@sophieappleton93 I've learned you can sub on white glitter htv & glow in the dark htv. I sub on white glitter htv when I want to sub on dark clothing
Watched your tutorial seven times, followed everything to the absolute letter... paper will not release from the vinyl... using Seogol Sublimation paper... please tell me what I'm doing wrong:(
Super thanks. it is really beautiful. is this possible with all types of glass? what kind of paper / vinyl did you take to stick to the glass before the photo is put on it? greetings Jennifer from the Netherlands
For a transparent background I’d use waterside decal instead of sublimation. Although, I think you can purchase precoated class for sublimation from some businesses.
Sorry but we are no longer making sublimation pieces. There are several Sublimation groups on FB with people making these. Good Luck and have a Safe Day.
Hi, do you have a paper cutter? push your transfer though it a couple of times, not to cut just in and out... the plastic on the top and the metal on the bottom separates the transfer from the backing paper. Just move it back and forward a few times. (o:
Do not reverse the image. Since you are sublimating through the vinyl, the same direction of your print will be shown on your glass. If you mirror, the front of the glass will show mirrored!
Yes I need answers because I sale mine . What I've start doing is after I print my images and let dry I spray with mod podge clear acrylic sealer let dry but do it 3x's . So I'm waiting to see if that one fades . The other one is I left the sub paper affixed to the glass . Waiting to see what happens .
@@TrinityTalks well the last one I did I used all the above steps just when I pressed it I pressed orcal 651 clear 1st then pressed the pic . . I did that one in Jan. And haven't gotten a call about it fading . So from now on I use the orcal or laminate sheets . I heard that prevent fading on any items that's not submliate ready.
I like the light fixture idea, but I'll be Honest I'm not too impressed with the image quality. The image seems too light. You would have better results using laminate vs vinyl.
Is my heat to high if it broke my glass? The image transferred but I couldn’t use it because the glass was broke. ☹️ Any help would be appreciated. It was a picture frame glass. 350 temp/270 time.
They all should be poly vinyl, the issue is the finished product. Using transparent will make the picture more transparent and not see much picture. The best way to know is to get a piece of glass or mirror from the dollar store and try it. Buy a cheap $1.00 picture frame at the dollar store and play with the glass and whatever you want to use for vinyl. Colored vinyl gives a hue effect of that color. I have seen some use a beige and it makes sort of like an old world effect.
