That being said, i think it is definitely real, Lennon was known for being pretty experimental. Now as for the context of what he was saying? Who knows, maybe he was referring to Paul changing from the person he used to be, "Paul is a dead man (or maybe is was just saying "Paul is dead man", which would make more sense), miss him, miss him, miss him...".
