@@Mepharias I think it's both. I wasn't in the navy but I entered paratrooper school in my country and I loved it. Training for me was just the step I had to take to jump out the ass end of a plane (and yes, it was freaking awesome for me).
I've wanted this so bad. An actual submarine guy playing this game. I've been watching other people play and try to figure out tactics and I've anyways wondered what a real dude would do. Great stuff
I can't tell you how much of a joy it is watching a real-life sonarman (apologies if that's the wrong term) using his skills to hunt an enemy sub. Happy hunting, Jive Turkey, and thank you for your service! 🙏
I've been sold on this game for a long time, but when you dropped the mark on the Alfa a second before the in game operator did made it a day one purchase for me. You still got it JT!
Finally a Sea Power vid by a professional. It was frustrating to watch some of the other game play videos on RU-vid and I've been wOndering why the Dev have not gotten a copy for you to test.
Maybe the active sound is just a bug? The Alfa never reacted so maybe the sound played but the torpedo never actually went active. I've seen some wacky bugs, which is to be expected. This was such a clean playthrough, poor bastard never had a chance!
Totally agree about training to be able to do your thing without the high tech. I was a Mortar Fire Controller (MFC) for ten of my years and we always started with the basic map, protractor, binos, pencil and only advancing to laser/thermal imager/GPS once we’d weeded out the ones that couldn’t do it. Once they were badged and good at their role you train further to have a working knowledge of next rank up. Much as I enjoyed tours I really liked encouraging the next generation to catch the bug for it.
"I knew I should have gone west" You had your William H. Macy moment! This is as close as we'll get to seeing this live and real. So thank you for that. Wouldn't mind more.
Hi Juve, LOVE the new streams and videos. Small suggestion: could you move yourself above that grey line at the bottom? So that we can see speed etc., thanks!
Love the content JT and great to see you going mono e mono with the alpha. But if we're going old school, time to break out the ball caps and fire point proceedures 😎
Totally agree about the importance of understanding the underlying math and work to make modern systems work. This was heavily emphasised when I served
Can’t wait for this game. Always liked your briefs and CW gameplay, loving the content and can’t wait to watch all the scenarios you put together/play.
I think you can shoot on bearing by: clicking the weapon on the grey bar at the bottom and a red circle should appear and you click anywhere in that circle
Man I'd love to see Jive play one of the old Sonalysts games like Sub Command or Dangerous Waters. They're a lot more detailed and simulationist than Cold Waters because the company also produced professional sims for the military. Lost of cool stuff like the ability to actually man the sonar or do TMA on contacts. Sub Command has Los Angeles class (i think just flt 3), Seawolf Class and Akula. Dangerous Waters has all that plus the Kilo, as well as ASW assets; the P-3, the Perry class, and the Seahawk.
2 miniutes into video Jive: I'll tell you all about this. FBI: You're gonna do what now? Great content! I bought Cold Waters because of you and I'm definitely buying this game too
Hope you leave feedback for the devs to add the ability to set the "tactics" for your subs in how they fire their torps when wire-guided. Being able to force them to shoot torps into the baffles/spread them out/etc... is really needed.. that and manual control of where torpedos go similar to cold waters. Otherwise there is no reason for having wire guided torps. BOL launch for weapons is also needed.
Really enjoyed watching your excitement come through here JT. I learned SO much from this 60 minutes. Thanks for sharing. Where can we learn about these tactics? What public sourced books are you aware of that might describe the right geometry and strategic thinking that goes into this dance? I am waaay too old to join the USN!
JT you gotta be so careful what you say especially by accident or hinting at about capabilities You know how much they don't like that. What made me think that was when you said they can't hear a thing if fast even a shot. I love reading between the lines knowing most will miss things but our people won't like it if we aren't careful. I'm singing to the choir I know just a heads up
Can you imagine when they begin to tie in these new AI with the game so it is absolutely fluid and situation depending! Open sources AI that tie in to game AI for dynamic decision making and real adapting to enemy
Can you tell us the typical actions on contact from the point of view of the Ivans? Would they play smart and not let you know if they heard you or would they flank speed at you for example?
Is there any way you can have the bottom skills bar and actions visable on the bottom action bar and skills bar? edit* I can't see what speed and direction and depth location.
Nice play, thank you for sharing. I'm little disappointed with a few things in this game. I know it's supposed to be Ops Level but still it makes for a much worse game than it could had been: 1- No BOL torpedo shooting. 2- No option for Active/Passive torpedo guidance. 3- No environnemental data. 4- Drawing tools interface looks clanky at best. They already have Cold Waters, they should had built this game on top of it, with more features, not less or different.
You mention CPA a few times. I like to stab at acronyms... Circular Probability of Acquisition? I didnt think you meant Chicken Peppers on Afternoon watch...
something I always wonder when I see a LA in games: would it be possible for the boat to accidentally cut off its towed array when performing hard rudder to starboard???
You may be one of my new tac sim guys with growling side winder and the grim reaper boys in jets. Q- in the RN the normal ship sailors found the submariners to be a "strange bunch", is this just because they cant talk much about whats happening so theres not much for them to talk about with the surface working guys?
I cant imagine being held at action stations for so long. especially because the crew would prob know that there was an alpha around. that's the sort of stress that would drive people mad.
Probably removed after comments "outside the fence" were on there. Even if it wasn't, may have been close enough and that's legal territory no one wants to be in. So, prudent the content is gone.
Geez I'm 51 min into this thing and no shots fired. Does the US military just stalk people and never fire or what?? Taking that long gonna get you popped in any game! Bro finally shot and didn't even give a good angle of him firing🤣
