Even the way you tell your little story makes us want to know more. Details are important, especially if they're important to your characters. Great insight. I think the only issue I've found is balancing over-exposition and trusting in subtelty.... I end up sprinkling little bits of "lore" as I go. They seem short and insignificant but as a whole adds a lot.
