I'm a chronic restarter in custom mode and love the UK & Europe Map (as a brit). I've found putting a station between cities works wonders for station and goods management - even if there is no rural goods there. Then I put a warehouse and maintenance station there (as well as a supply stop). This allows the city stations to focus on passengers / mail upgrades. Another interesting, albeit ruthless trick, is choking business of their goods routes to lower their purchase value: Lets say I run corn between 3 cities and the farm upgrades to level 3 and costs about 900k, I stop delivering the corn. Over 3 months, the value of the farm can drop as low as 90k. I then purchase it and monopolise the corn industry.
that's me too i will get 3 hours in and I go "this is a mess i need to restart".. OCD i guess lol. Good tips too, I have as well tried the station in between cites.
I am the same way! I bought the game when it released and haven't completed the first campaign mission yet because of this! I keep restarting and trying to make it better, only to restart again...
Thank you sir! I just started playing this on the Xbox One which I revived and gave it new life again. My takeaway from your video is the ability to change the flow of the tracks. My setup is so inefficient because I have one train that goes back and fourth on the same tracks meaning I can only have one train on there but if I have two tracks that go East and other goes West, then the circuit is created and flow is better, just like how a normal road operates as how you pointed out. What frustrated me last night was that I needed to get corn from a corn farm to Boston and was trying to utilize the Warehouse ability but soon realized that excess supplies end-up in the warehouse and the city's needs have to fulfilled first which means whenever the Boston train came to Albany to pick-up corn, there was no supply because the city was eating them all up. So what I did in order to satisfy the criteria was built a track that ran straight from the corn farm way down to Boston bypassing all my existing tracks which means more money being spent just so that I can create a point A to B connection while also having to route the tracks around the city limits and then wasting more money trying to level tracks on hilly terrains while trying to avoid having to build any tunnels along the way. There is so much to learn from this game and it reminds me of another train game I used to play on the PC in the early 2000s which name I already forgot. That was so engaging and fun and playing this game again is so fun and exciting. Your management skills and creativity and visualization are really put to the test.
I keep in mind expansion and will eventually get to a 4 track system, one set for express and one for freight to not slow my express trains down. Works good for me once I get it set up and going.
I guess you might be not optimal from the start, most of the stations are oriented to the south, though there is nothing more to the south, it would be easier for expanding additional platforms on the stations with the orientation to the north, so you can easier add additional tracks on the platforms
Question, does utilization in the line-info show how full the trains will be overall? I.e if I have a train that gets filled with 8 wagons at both stops/directions it will show 100% but if it only fills with 8 wagons in one directions and 0 from the other then it’s 50%?
So I'm learning the game and I've come across an issue I'm not sure how to solve. Some of my trains will make trips without any cargo. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Also some cities end up reaching max resource limit and I'm unsure how to deal with these as well.
@@regenytarmovies Yes correct, but they don't both have access to each others warehouse. Maybe you could designate one for passenger and one for freight?
three features in this version 2 of the game that I do NOT appreciate. 1. sometimes I want to play easy mode with no train collisions, have not found a way to do that in this version. 2. when laying tracks I cannot see city data that is only visible in station placement mode. 3. no manual pause setting, only auto pause.
