After a LOT of experimentation I finally found a process where I can place holes in my form while slip casting. The end goal is to make a rice grain effect lamp from my moon jar form. Using more traditional methods ended up chipping out the clay. Here I use wax rods as pins. The wax repeals most of the slip so when the slip is drained there is little left on the pin. Unfortunately the tolerance on this wax wasn't great so they kinda fall out of the holes and don't form a good seal! But these are fixable problems - I just need to find the right wax.
