This was one of the all time great Succession episodes. Easy 10/10, cannot believe it was only the 2nd episode!

Y’all’s review is really one of the best I’ve found. It’s in depth but also down to earth; I feel like I’m listening to an entertaining conversation rather than a complete thesis on the deconstruction of rich assholes lol.

I saw an interview with Kieran Culkin where he pointed out how evil Conner is, because he basically bought a human, and it made my blood run cold.

I really wish everyone wasn’t so hard on the trio of kids, they’ve been through such horrific situations on this show (Kendall the most) I just want them to be successful and happy. How anyone can cheer on Logan baffles me. His apology felt sincere?! All he apologized for was the helicopter! The most irrelevant thing ever, he’s never genuine

I need to do the rewatch to listen for mention of Marcia, as I noted there is a lot of refering to how Logan knifes all the women in his life: -Shiv: Advised Tom against Shiv -Caroline: shive said she was 'Mommed' so his was vengeful in their split - Kerry: Duplicitous and cowardly about getting her a TV job. Did not stand up for her at all to the wjole network. - Gerri: Being sidelined and kept out of meetings - Syd: Is going to be fired after decades of successful service. - Connor's Mother: Was locked up in a mental facility - please note that especially given the time that wpuld have been, there is no reason to believe that she was in any need of institutionalising. I do not believe we will ever know what happened to Rose but I dont feel good about it

The final scene where Willa is sleeping makes me think she was never out partying-- the whole thing was a lie concocted by Logan and Connor to get the other 3 siblings to a location where Logan could then drop-in on them to push them to accept his POV since they'd never deliberately speak to him.

I'm ashamed to admit I somehow missed these back when the season was actually airing, but I'm catching up on these now, and especially some of the things you're talking about Shiv in this video is giving me major Cersi Lannister deja vu.

This is definitely not the right decision by the kids. They are willing to screw up a $10 billion deal to get maybe an extra hundred million. Matson doesn't want to deal with their family craziness, there are other people to do business with who are not caught up in their baggage. They also seem to just forget they made an offer to Pierce and now are going to screw up the deal where they were going to get the money to buy Pierce, they don't have a plan b to get that money.

I disagree I think the meanest thing Shiv said to Tom was "I may not Love you but I do love you" right after she says to him that she's too good for him as foreplay.

Might have been the best non finale episode of the series.

Logan built the company. it's his company he should be able to do with it as he pleases. Kendal is smart, but an unreliable addict. Shiv is smart but doesn't have the experience. Roman is probably the best equipped, as he can read and deal with people. Let the kids build their own company

I gotta disagree. Logan is all about scheming and backstabbing as evidenced by the way he treats his children, by the way he treats the people who work for him, by the way he treats his wives. There is nothing Logan Roy loves more than psychological games except dragging unwilling participants in to play with him.

Roman is better off with his father. Even with their father being terrible, he is around and attempts to show care. Their mother on the other hand wished she didn’t have them.

I can’t tell what Tom says to Logan who is standing on the boxes. Anyone?

Connor didn't say his superpower was not receiving love. He said "I don't need it. It's like a superpower". His superpower is not NEEDING love. Which is a totally different thing.

Neither Kendall or Shiv really want more money. They want to blow up the deal to get back at Logan. Their dad has screwed them at every turn. It’s beyond money for them. Kendall knows what he’s doing that’s why he’s grinning in the car at the end.

The reason Logan was at ATN is because after the merger Lucas is taking over but giving Logan ATN

The sale going through, the kids getting their cash so they can buy Pierce, Logan keeping and running ATN - that would have been their “happy ending.” Like Kerry said, that would separate the personal from the business. However, this isn’t that kind of show. And as the name of the show implies, there’s a promised succession that will happen. So logically from a writer’s POV, it makes sense for the deal to fall through.

Logan used boxes so everyone could see him and he could hold their attention. It's public speaking 101.

I think deep down they just want the attention and respect from Logan. I don’t think any of the children can actually do the “top job”. Kendall is an addict that has too much baggage to be a success at this point. Shiv hasn’t done anything successful business wise nor career wise in politics. She often acts smart but made dumb mistakes when she should step up. She’s not capable to be a CEO for any company let alone a mega one like Waystar. Roman is unhinged and his personal issues such as the D pics will hurt his reputation faster than anyone. He isn’t mature enough to be a real man and be CEO. He will probably fold after a week after getting the job.

Tom being such a bumbling sycophant in front of Logan got a little annoying this episode. It was amusing, but unrealistic. Logan wouldn't put up with that, he'd tell him to get to the point or stop bullshitting him or something.

I think there interpretation about what Kendall took away from the call is wrong. I think Kendall thinks he can blow up the deal and become CEO.

Logan is hard to watch this season. Kerry situation is just miserable... I think he would have appreciated someone just saying plain and clear, "nah, she's horrible, we won't do it." But no one can, kids aren't around, others are too afraid. This ATN speech was just pathetic. Almost as cringe as Ken's "L to the OG". But since Logan is human gaslight...

Listening to the official "Succession" podcast is very frustrating. I listen to it with "what? why? but that's not what you've shown!".

I haven’t watched the show since season 1, like 80% through and got tired of it. Not the best dialogue imo. Just swearing at each other and forced conflict. Is the dad still in charge? Anyway, I’m here on my 12 hr shift in hospital. Nothing to listen to so just supporting the boys!

Ken is trying hard to be based, but he's cringe. He probably had the best training among siblings, but he's not good enough. He's like a sword, forged by the best master from shit steel.

re: the real life people on which this is modeled - definitely hate all of them and want them to have a horrifically bad ending - like the Fox Dominion suit - Rupert & Fox are just as bad as Alex Jones
