Funny thing happened when I moved to Florida. Well not funny at first, my jajosomething littlecactus ball didn't move well and expired. I went to the garden store and found a little "beavertail paddle" a littl version of prickley pair. One of the paddles was broke off the main plant and I stuck the broken piece right in the soil and it now has a new shoot, light green baby stalk. This plant is indoors, east facing window. The soil it came in is like tiny wood chips.
Yeah prickly pear types will do that! But they get gangly if they don’t get enough sun. I have slowly been trying to get rid of my pricklies cause I’m tired of dealing with spines
@@SweetSweetSucculents I'm looking to buy a potted Seguaro cactus. My large prickly pear is outside on the patio, gets morning full sun almost every day.
Thank you very much for this lovely video. I am just wondering if succulents can be propogated from the tiny leaves, say half to maybe an inch in size?
Yes, as long as the node is intact - that’s the part that attached directly to the stem. Make sure you keep in some shade cause the little ones can dry out fast/before they start to prop.
Well, if you tear off the mama leaf like I did in a few of those then I would at least wait a few days but honestly I don’t really water them unless they start looking a little wrinkly or dry. I keep them out of direct sunlight for a while until they get a little bit bigger and babies are usually OK with that but they will kind of tell you when they are thirsty so I’ll wait till they look thirsty and then I’ll water but if you do water them before it’s time they’re probably fine. Babies are a little bit more tolerant to extra water.
I actually had a friend from California send me a whole bunch of those because she lives close to a bunch of nurseries and she used to get them for free. I don’t know what I’m going to do when I run out.
