SUCESSFUL Subaru CVT Ring & Pinion Swap

If you bought a CVT transmission that is the correct model, but the final drive gear ratio is incorrect, it can be swapped using the ring and pinion from your original transmission.
Is it worth it? ill leave that up to you, but I did it, and it worked.
If your paying a mechanic, it'd probably cheaper to get the correct transmission.
This was done on a TR690, but will be the same process for a TR580

My story: working on doing all bellows and such on the back of my boat (bravo 3 drive) Put it all back together to only then realize I didn't install the water line through the transom plate. So I had to take it all apart to do so and when I did I then stripped out the threads on the bell housing and it cost me a whole new $800 bell housing plus 2 weeks of wait time because now it was a new water intake tube and that also came broken!. My boat season ended right there and then.

Shit show try my life for a change lol. I do like your videos thoe been trying to learn what i can about these things havnt worked on rhem yet but have my sons 08 legacy to mess with tomorrow theowing a bunch of codes but i think its the battery terminals 1 year old battery but its got some corrosion started with a lean bank 1 code then jumped to a misfite number 4 and a few random things i hope its just the battery lol. Thanks for blowing the diff si we no what not to fo lol actually watching that video helped a lot i dont have a cvt but i will probably be stuck with one eventually lol

Im not a gear genius but arent those two gearing so close that it would not have made a difference. Which gearing was better?

What was the problem? Why did the chain cover break in the end?

You need to remove the torque converter seal and there’s a snap ring behind it

This man built my motor on my subaru and did a motor swap on my Toyota after building that motor, that was 11 years ago on the Toyota and I don't have so much as an oil leak, and my subaru is leaking a little bit but I drive it hundreds of miles every week and it's amazing

I want to add, I doubt doing it the way I did is even an option in the manual. It probably wants me to disassemble the tail housing. Innovation doesn’t happen by people following the book. The best discoveries are almost always mistakes.
