I've been analyzing both NJ & Illit and while they both exist in a 2000s space they musically are different based on synth and production choices. NJ favor more atmospheric sounds like clapping or synths that are based on 'real world' sounds - think the musical 'stomp' - while Illit favors a more completely computer generated artificial sound more akin to chip-tune music. Likewise, both groups follow those concept in imagery too. NJ girls are more the girls living in the 2000s while Illit are more like a geocities website come to life. Plenty of room for both.

This song has quite the addicting hook, think it'll be stuck with me for the whole day. Side note: I really hope these guys get to check out Maestro by Seventeen in a future video. Think there'd be some good appreciation for it.

It was nice to see an independent, unrelated review of this song, even with the slight comparison of the two groups. As someone who doesn't really pay attention to either group (or any girl group, actually), but who is really angry about the nastiness that MHJ's revolt (likely a paltry term for what she's doing, but...) is causing towards multiple innocent groups, this was helpful.

This synth sound has been around forever with the likes of Shawn Wasabi, Kero Kero Bonito, Moe Shop, and any kawaii/anime-core convention DJ or weeaboo with fruity loop mixer. Truth be told I’m not entirely sure where to pinpoint the origin of this sound, but it’s somewhere in that miasma born between 2009-2014 anime conventions lol. I’ve been celebrating this TREND in kpop bc it’s a sound I looooove and I’m glad it’s back and being innovated on. Please do not attribute this style of synth and song to NJ. Edit To Add, Newjeans (or more specifically a song engineer who also likes that genre of music) has created a trend of bringing this sound back. I will concede that, but they didn’t invent it pls Styling of the girls? Sure, very new jeans, but that’s more a symptom of them being the IT Girls of the moment. Remember when Hwasa sold out beef tripe? There’s a twice-ification of jpop right now that is probably about to move to the new jeans trend. They’re trendsetters, and the industry demands artists and consumers follow the trends which is very whack, but it’s not something to tear down other GG for. It’s because the shareholders said it’s profitable.

i like magnetic in think the best creative aspects on the song where the chiptune add and some of the entris, the arpegio is really nice to begin (even if belief copy mhj in this) my only problem whit the song and the ep is how similar is to nj, i get it very 2000's influece in both, but they are on the same company, its a little odd. hope the next album belief do a better job making a personal sound for the group and a different sound, they need to keep the chiptune there! nice review guys and great thing of yall to say ''dont hate the group'' in the comments, somebody can be critic whitout hate, thats not ok.
