There are really few people who will actually get the true message of this movie. The fact that it opens with a hauntingly beautiful montage shows that it is full of emotion and depth. I adored this movie, it was just gorgeous. I don't even understand why it was reviewed so horribly!
People didn't bother to look into it more. Insecure men were upset about the protagonists being women heroines. And the amount of people I've seen saying stuff like "wow they have so much plot armor fighting all those powerful enemies" that's the point, it's personal fantasies that put them in power as a coping mechanism to escape from reality, and so many people failed to understand that.
@@yakone1379 "Insecure men". LOL! The common trope of people who think all men everywhere don't like strong women. I don't like this movie because the heroine is the one who got lobotomized. I would have preferred to have that "dad" get what was due him.
@@richardthomas5362 I didn't say all men don't like strong women, I said insecure men don't like strong women. Perhaps stop twisting people's words. There are a lot of men who respect women and if you believe I think otherwise then you're just making wrong assumptions.
I don't understand people who don't like this movie. It has a great and emotional story, stunning visuals, a kickass soundtrack, and some very attractive actresses.
I would love a series.. like a tv show about baby doll before she gets labotomized. I have never resonated emotionally with a character the way I do with her.
Idek how i heard about this. I think :/ i vaguely heard sh idk. I might be making up stuff. In short, someone told me to watch this. :/ I believe. I know some things w/ in ur enviornment can alter your mind, & it can just be a combo of things. & I can sympathize w/ ppl to a certain degree. Not always empathize. Bc some things you really can help. So no. I dont feel bad. On another note, somexs i like to "bug" the elderly. Like i know were not supposed to baby talk, use pet names, other weird ish but also me feeling the urge to jus-, ohhhh giirrrlllfrrriiieeennnddd... Ohhhh. In a i know u didnt tone. I just like to randomly say that to any random lady at any given random moment. Then leave em hanging. Theyre like what? Im like idk. I was channeling my munchkin. I just-idk. Like the sound of my own voice 🤗. Also, i know...its a little fd up. My names fr annie. Do i low key give u the creeps?
TyRhy521 Agreed, but what about that fat bastard? He killed their mother after abusing her and them for years, tried to rape and kill both of them, and made one accidentally kill the other. Then she gets to that ward and is just left without closer while the fucker lives it large with their inheritance???
@@user-qz6xf4uo1v no actually, if you paid attention, when blue was being taken away he was saying "no it wasnt me, i can tell you what the (step dad) did and the transactions" so it was given that he was also rotting in jail since baby doll wasnt an actual suspect, and they were just waiting for baby doll to be in the state of mind to tell what actually happened.
@@cipherzilch8042 You're a year plus late but thanks for your input. Currently I haven't seen this movie in a long while so I might just take your word for it.
The ones that doesnt like this movie just cannot appreciate the geniality of it. The entire movie makes you think you are following a story when in reality there is a bigger picture behind it. So in the end who is being sucker punched is ourselves and we do realize it makes perfect sense. This is trully a masterpiece in visual and originality.
Zoezer Brasilio i shall remain ever grateful to kickasstorrents for the extended version of this with all the deleted scenes included . this movie is a classic example of an excellent film not being understood and hence underrated by the mass audience . SAD , VERY SAD . love from India .

Thinking about it, at the beginning, Sweet Pea says that every one has an angel, and that their form changes "One day an old man, next day a little girl." So it's obvious that the old man is Baby Doll's guardian angel, who challenges her to fight, but doesn't it also make sense that Baby Doll would be Sweet Pea's angel, the one who finally got her to fight to get free? The one who showed them all the power one can hold over the worlds they create...
It's definitely Sweet Pea's story, she's about to be labotomised at the start before she is asked to use drama as her therapy. After this, Baby Doll comes in and could very well be perceived as a figment of Sweet Peas personality/imagination. At the end of the movie, she sacrifices a part of herself when Baby Doll gets labotomised in her place so she can escape into her perceived version of safety via a cross country bus. Sweet Pea also consults the audience directly as the narrator asking the question at the end of the movie of who's story it actually is in case you've been thinking it's Baby Doll's.
Neil Taylor don't forget most recently Batman v Superman was awesome! everyone knows Bruce Wayne story but the way that Zack Snyder represent the death of Bruce's parents was amazing I love it the pearl necklace in the gun
Zach Snyder is the best in the world at doing these montages. Watchmen intro, Comedians funeral, BvS intro. 2021 Edit: Now I can add Darksieds vision from Zach Snyders Justice league. That scene was beautiful. And Army of the dead opening credits.
He must to be recognize by that. All these intros are amazing, gorgeous and very well crafted and directed. If he combine his talent of create stunning visuals and shots with great storytelling he could easily become one of the greatest modern film directors
This song is sung by Emily Browning herself (Baby Doll in the movie) she made a cover for the movie. Originally though, this song is performed by Eurythmics. THUMBS UP SO PEOPLE CAN SEE
Actually, a lot of the people who hated this movie hated it BECAUSE they understood it, and they understood it too well. This film isn't a cryptic, intelligent work of art - this film has no subtlety. It's very blatant with it's symbolism and representation of themes. Sucker Punch is not a complicated movie to understand. It's a film that pretends to be smarter than it actually is - that is why many people hated it.
@@jessebond4280 why the fuck people find smartness in movies?? Just enjoy what they hv prepared for you! ITS MY FAVORITE MOVIE AND I CAN'T HEAR IT!!UNDERSTAND??
The strong part about this movie is that, even though there are girls in short skirts with guns, the story doesn't evolve around that fact. The movie itself is complicated, sad, and just amazingly put together. And yes, there are hot girls, in short skirts, with guns. But that doesn't even matter because they fight for there freedom.
WATCHED THIS FILM ONCE IN HBO AND GAWD WAS THE MESSAGE SO STRONG! *Emily Browning is so freaking good!* I didn't even know she can sing and her acting was just freaking awesome! :) **Adds more respect to Emily than ever before** GOOD JOB EMILY! :) ♥
this is, hands down, the most epic movie beginning of all times. so originally shot, told and accompanied by the best possible music.. it's.. astonishing
I am so happy to read these comments because i am fan of this movie , people can't understand this movie , it's about the feelings, personalities and about the someone who wants to find herself in the life , i know what that's mean i am so lucky to watch this movie:)
Just one of the best Movies. So many details in this story, so many emotions. Its insane, how good this movie is. Its getting better and better, if you just watch this movie again and again. Its a masterpiece.
It never dawn the meaning of this movie to me before. But now as I grow older and mature. This has become more sentimental. The battle of mental breakdown. Full of rage and emotion. Fantastic movie.
I love this song and the scene that goes with it. they work perfectly together. However I hate watching this scene because it's so sad. it makes me cry. It shows just how powerful music can make a scene even if the scene is powerful already...if that makes sense. Good movie as well.
This film is absolutely fantastic. One of the best ones I've ever seen. In the end, as in Lorenzo's Oil, she understands that we sometimes fight monster not for us, but for someone we love.
Ladies and gentlemen, one of the great short films of all time. For some reason theaters insisted on always showing a totally unrelated collection of action movies and dance routines for the next two hours after it, I don't quite know what was up with that.
Don't let appearances fool you, they can be a fierce as any dragon, yet they're not here to fight our battles, but to whisper from out heart, reminding that it's us, it's everyone of us that holds its power over the worlds we create. Sweet dreams are made of these.
I used to watch this movie all the time when i was little and I always got this part of the movie stuck in my head and for years I have been trying to think of the name but for some reason never looked it up lol but know I know but it was so long ago from the last time I watched it that I forgot almost everything
I just watch this last night for the first time. I thought it's a popcorn movie considering the movie tittle and their outfit. But it end up blowing my mind. Such a shame I didn't watch it in the theatre.
This was by far my favorite movie of all time. Crazy awesome characters and scenes with some hard, true meaning behind them. When you think about it, its actually a pretty sad movie
Love this movie and its deep meaning, many people dont get the message in the end of the movie! Or they judge the movie before they think of what the message of the movie is all about. Its a 9 out 10 movie for me!
This wasnt some cheesey hollywood movie. This was an amazing graphic novel series that hollywood made it into a amazing movie. Sucker punch is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.
Everyone has a angel, a guardian who watches over you, one day young woman, one day old man, dont let appearances fool you, that one woman could be the true guardian and the one who watches over you, love always, we hold the keys over the worlds we create, make it a good world.
"Everyone has an angel, a guardian who watches over us. We can't know what form they'll take. One day - old man next day, little girl. But don't let aPpearances fool you. They can be as fierce as any dragon. Yet they're not here to fight our battles, but to whisper from our heart, reminding that it's us, everyone of us who holds the power over the Worlds we create. We can deny our angels exist, convince ourselves they can't be real, but they show up anyway at strange places and at strange times. They can speak through any character that we can imagine. They'll shout through Demons if they have to. Daring us, challenging us to fight".
Most people say this movie is stupid and it doesn't make sense and im like "everyone has their own opinion except youre freaking wrong." (quote from pewdiepie)
+Myla Westlake It is not a matter of opinion. It is a fact that the movie is an incoherent mess. While it is full of great visuals, it looks more like Snyder tried to find a way to shoehorn cool fight scenes into a movie.
meleca Baby Doll accidentally killed her when she tried to kill the guy. She missed when she shot at him, and the bullet bounced off the pipe and killed her sister
It rarely happens to a movie to become a favorite one for me from an opening scene but that movie,damn..it will always be so underrated. These words in the beginning will always make me shiver to my spine!
I loved this movie. A lot of people hated it or didn't understand it. But I both loved it and understood it, for the most part. Bunch of girls kicking ass to a great score and soundtrack with some awesome visuals and fight sequences. Better than most of the crap that I've seen lately. It's an A in my book.
This movie was reallllly well done! The way it demonstrates "imagery and symbolism" it's epic. It cleared everything up for my brother! Teachers should use this in classes to teach it! Haha
