Watch Suddenly (1954) Full Movie on The Film Detective. Frank Sinatra is unforgettable as a psychotic war veteran whose goal is to assassinate the president! As John Baron, Sinatra and his henchmen take over a house near the train station, holding the family hostage while waiting for the president’s train to arrive. Baron is good with a gun and has the perfect vantage point. All he has to do is keep a cool head. But can he? This cold-blooded thriller from director Lewis Allen (The Uninvited) feels as savage as it did decades ago when the New York Times called Sinatra’s performance, “a melodramatic tour de force.”
Director: Lewis Allen
Writer: Richard Sale
Starring: Frank Sinatra, Sterling Hayden, James Gleason, Nancy Gates, Kim Charney

Still an excellent movie, even after all these years. Tight, well acted and a good story well filmed and directed. One of those nuggets of gold made just before television took over our lives.

Anyone else notice that she lives Pidge at the supermarket? Yep, I watch this movie too much. One of my favorite old movies. Sinatra does a great job, but Sterling Hayden, war hero, a man's man. Also, James Gleason (grandpa) is such a great actor. He delivers the best line in the movie; no, he makes an ordinary line extraordinary, "Well, you got me there, boy!" Also, David Raksin's incomparable score. Classic movie from a different era.

Frank Sinatra proved beyond a shadow of a doubt not only was he a fabulous singer but a marvelous actor as well. His acting chops as maggio with Burt and Donna and Monte in from here to eternity. He was in the company of great actors and more than held his own. Frank was hugely under rated as an actor. He won the Oscar for that highly praised film and proved to movie goers all over the world that he had the acting chops to compete with the greatest actors on the planet. Comedian Tom Dreesen (Mr. Sinatra's opening act for fourteen years at the latter end of his career), tells a story about eating dinner with "Mr. S.", at this Palm Springs home, along with Barbara Sinatra, Gregory Peck, Robert Wagner, Jill St. John, and others from Hollywood. Some of the table talk among the actors turned to where each had studied acting in their early days. Dreesen asked Mr. Sinatra, "Where did you study acting Frank?" Gregory Peck intervened with Dreesen, saying "He's (referring to Mr. S.) a natural-born, diamond in the rough, actor. Acting school would have ruined him."

Between his performance in, " The Man with a Golden Arm," and , " Suddenly ," Frank Sinatra showed his genuine, superb acting capabilities. Had he concentrated his energies on the big screen rather than in front of a microphone he would have been, in my opinion, one of Hollywoods all time main attractions. In , "The man with a Golden Arm," the entire film is a master piece in gritty human emotions with a unbeatable cast , flawless cinematography and a timeless scripe/ story line. In this one, " Suddenly," it's more of Sinatra stealing the show. With a somewhat weaker cast and script he still manages to pull off a remarkable, riveting performance. Long live B&W film...lol

A relaxing Friday, the pizza warming up in the oven, the Coke on the table, and afterwards a drive with the bike to the river with the good non fiction book of Paul Bremer III about his year as "vice roy" in Iraq ! Can it get any better ?

From here to eternity ; Pal Joey ; The man with the golden arm ; Some came running ; The joker is wild ; Von Ryan's Express . Have you seen all these? If not, seek them out, you may be pleasantly surprised just how great an actor he was. I'm a massive Sinatra fan, so forgive me. 😁

Love American cars. Like taking your living room with you & 3 piece suite! Lush suspension as you wallowed over pot holes. As long as roads were straight, as they were, you had a good ride.

Blimey. A variation of Manchurian Candidate. Or an inversion, with Sinatra as the assassin instead of Laurence Harvey Sterling Hayden is too rarely seen. He suffered from typecasting. They made him a parody in Dr. Strangelove. 1018p resolution. Complete uninterrupted movie. No weirdness with the picture or the sound. A gem of an upload.

Quite a moment at 45:31. When Baron takes her by the shoulders it's almost erotic. That's charisma. That's Sinatra.

It has always been Criminals with guns And Psycho's with guns that has been held responsible for problems. Now early release from prison for re-offenders is just a additional problem.
@joestrike8537
@joestrike8537 3 года назад
@@47Grits Maybe the problem is how easy it is for these people to get their hands on these things. (I mean, who else needs a weapon like an AK-47 that can fire TEN ROUNDS A SECOND except a soldier in a combat zone - or a psycho who wants to shoot up his school or workplace?) But as long as gun huggers oppose ANY kind of regulation (not to mention making it illegal for civilians from owning military-grade weapons) these atrocities will continue to continue.
