Sudowrite Just Had a BIG Update I've Been Asking For 

The only limitation is that the AI can only access small portions of the book at once. It feels like NC is a little better about that.

So I'm not a writer, but I love writing my never ending story for myself. So as a non-writer I would have liked the chat feature to be able to select a prompt and alter the story as I go and to remember what I selected.

I noticed this the other day. I used it a few times, and it was actually pretty cool. I was able to target and rewrite a paragraph or two with specific prompts I have used over the past year.

Appreciate your Sudo Write offerings. Possibly you covered this and I missed it. I intend to use Sudo Write in editing/rewrite -- specifically, the second draft after a quick first draft. Assuming I should complete a "Story Bible," how detailed do I need to be to ensure useful rewrites, chats, and plug-ins? And, what other settings should I pay attention to in order to make Sudo Write a more helpful editor?

I know you closed down your membership but is there anyway I can join now?

I am new to this sudowrite. Is it okay to write what you want in your story, That is if the prompts are not what you like? Or am I doing it wrong?

Slightly offtopic but GPT-4 just gave me the following text for the opening scene of a novel: "The sky above the city was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel." Which is almost verbatim the opening sentence of Neuromancer. Basically, anything the AI generates could formally be a plagiarism of some other book that's in the training data and you might not even realize it. That seems like a risk one should consider when using AI.

I didn't see this update. I keep trying to cancel SW since i use NC and never really used it at all. Now I have to check it out to see if it's worth keeping a little while longer :/

I also wanted to ask -- if you have a full outline, and you do the chapter generator.... does sudowrite actually take into account the entirety of the outline, or just grab that one chapter, because it seems like it's just the one chapter as far as story arcs go anyways. I tried getting it to generate some beats off my outline (which even those failed to grab major concepts and padded unimportant concepts, so I had to heavily modify them) and generate a chapter for me (I found "most accurate" followed the flow of my story the best. Best prose and Fastest went completely off the rails, ending up in a different setting and characters in the scene that were not supposed to be there) but even with the 30k credits spent, the writing that was produced tried to evolve my character in a single chapter instead of throughout the novel and every beat also seemed to wrap up that thought/beat in a tidy bow, like it was the end of the chapter or a cliffhanger. My character kept getting his determination reinvigorated. He was really determined by the end of it. It was basically unusable. The writing was also very choppy; it kept reusing the same phrases over and over. Idk...I'm disappointed with it so far. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

at the 6 minute mark you mention "write inline feature". Maybe a stupid question, but what does that mean exactly?

Sudowrite is building on their strength here. Before they embarked on the "Story Engine" experiment, Sudowrite was already great for working with text: Rewriting, expanding, and adding vivid descriptions. I would particularly recommend it for new writers and pantsers in general. And now it is getting even better.

Jason, I enjoy your videos. I wonder if you might be interested in making a video for people who are attempting to write their memoirs and are not writers by nature. I own Sudowrite. I would be interested in the process you might use if you were writing your memoir. Cheers, sincerely, Ray.

The simple fact that NC supports LM Studio means I have cancelled all my other AI tool subscriptions.

Frankly, the update isn't ready for prime time, yet your thumbnail exaggerates (hypes) Sudowrite's huge update. It's a "huge" FAIL. NovelCrafter ate their breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert!

I can't stand how complicated Novelcrafter is. I prefer Sudowrite. I like prompting, but Novelcrafter is too much.
