i dont blame suffocation for giving all the interviews to mike, he knows about the music industry, he knows his band(ex), he knows the fans, but overall he is a really smart guy.
How could people not move for Suffocation, they practically invented bdm. I saw them twice last year with Kevin Talley then Eric. They fucking slayed both times. Ricky killed it on vocals, the guy is an absolute monster. Charlie has no problem at all keeping up and nailing the riffs, it seemed natural to him. My neck and throat still slightly hurt from headbanging so hard and screaming their lyrics along with them.
i didnt know that mike smith only have two eyes and teeths. he has no face, no hair and other stuff belong to a head. gosh, i miss him so much at suffocation, he's always a great guy, loved to talk espacilly to him.
@plasticpope was that the last time they came to Adelaide in November 2009 when they supported Arch Enemy, if so i was there too. I got a photo with Dereck, Guy and Terrance and spoke to Terrance Hobbs for a bit. Suffocation are an awesome live band and that was a night i will never forget.
One of the best death metal bands ever! Its so funny how the guy jumps into the pit and expects people to catch him but he falls straight to the ground lmao!
Great video, no awesome video!!! One of the most amazing bands, period metal or not. Oh how I wish more people could appreciate this kind of wonderful music, people who are closed off from metal don't make sense. Its a relief listening to this kind of music to me!!!
What's a 'living', working a shit 9-5 job? getting into debt and just getting by on paying the bills. I don't see what's more of a living that tour the world and playing amazing festivals in a great band.
@Beholdthesharktopus, The reason why he does that is to mimic an upright bass which he finds most comfortable. He has a good point too; the less your arms/wrists are bent the better. People who play bass with their wrists bent on both the left and right arms will eventually get a stiff, painful sensation from having to play fast and hard when you're unnaturally bent up.
@bugbrave It's because the CD, as a storage device, is becoming obsolete. Like the vinyl and cassette tape before it, people are buying music online more and more making it financially unfeasible to keep producing CD's. Its only a matter of years before they are replaced completely by digital media. :)
Well, they did, they got their videos passed on Headbangers Ball, they played at Wacken (and that isn´t cheap) they were Headliners on a lot of Festivals, i don´t know if they are poor man.
@fjens2 I heard that he left because he felt that he did everything he could for the band and he´s gonna trie to move on, but, that still sucks, hope he "reconsiders"(whats the word?) coming back.
@bugbrave I agree with you but y' know, Mike is right about the fact that if bands put out 1 or 2 songs at a time, those will be always the best songs they could write. Also, people like me who save every penny to be able to buy their death metal will be able to support a lot more different bands at a time.
@PrismAndGate I'm not against deathcore, they've found an another way to play death metal, it's the only thing I got in mind for them. Let the metal be.
Chris Rodriguez Oh, that’s Dave Culross. He played on Despise the Sun. He also played on Gorgasm’s “Bleeding Profusely” and is a member of Malevolent Creation. Dave Culross rules.
@fjens2 Well, i said that i hope he come back to the band, he´s gonna do another stuff now, i read somewhere that he has a rap project going by, but that´s not my stuff.
@pablotepa13 i guess u mean like that he would considder to come back? hmmmmm a lot of musicians think that but because of that they are still verry usefull for the band because they are just so fucking talented:P
@pablotepa13 yeh:) I get what u mean. Ye i also saw something about that.... pitty, I realy don't like rap and I would never expect from him to do something like that, hopefully he will be back in Suffocation or in another death metal band!
@bugbrave I agree whole heartedly. Just a fucking single. seriously when i listen to one metal song when the song ends I wonder why is it so short, even if it was 7 min long, want more, thats when the album comes in. Living off of singles only works if you sell out with pop music, cus the demographic only cares for one song to be played over and over until the next bs artist does something. As an artist visually and musically having a metal record is the best of both worlds.
@Beholdthesharktopus i talked to him when he plaid in adelaide once and he said that its because he broke his arm at some time so he had to play like that to give him more support and now he just plays like taht naturally... and lets face it, it looks fucking badass
Well, that Sucks, i actally thought that Metal Artist were getting money from what they do, i mean, i know that they does´nt sell 1 000 000 albums on a first week but they still sell a lot of albums.
Oh I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about Frank. The person you replied to used a way that I cannot see what you were talking about before. My apologies.
when suffocation reunited, Mike in particular insisted that it was very important that Suffocation reach some kind of commercial success. I guess it's because those guys have families and lots of responsabilities so being a poor musician doesn't appeal to them anymore.
