I met him at Wasco, en-route to HighDesert, on a layover, to pick up other inmates. It was REALLY crowded in the holding tanks...A LOT of BayArea blacks were bunched up around him, and another prison rapper... both rap battling 🙂 The place was LOUD. There were 3 rappers. But SugaFree was the winner. No one really declared it, but everyone knew. When they were done, we somehow ended up squatting near a table, there was a lot of commotion. We had a brief chat. He had a yellow legal envelope with all his rhymes in it. We exchanged names, he told me his name was Royal. I told him he needed to keep up with it, coz he's gonna make it. He said he KNEW that already. 😁 He pulled out a few papers with rhymes on them and spit out some rhymes. Asked me what I thought. I told him he's the best rapper I heard up till then. He was using a comb and his knuckles to beat on the table. lol just like in another video. Anyway, If I ever meet him again, I hope he remembers LOST FEATHER. 😎
@@ChiefaThaGreat35 "You draft me?? Oh you trippin. I gotta be honest wit you sarge, you gimme that gun il prolly shoot you wit it" 🤣🤣 Where my true suga free fans at??
These suga free interviews made me see him in a whole new light. I have a complete different respect for this legend. Very happy you did this interview
First time I heard Sugafree was in the penitentiary over 20 years ago and to this day, he chops so smooth and so true, now I’m in the square life yet the game is everlasting
LAMORSA ONDEADA I’m just glad he did the Lisa Van Allen interview so we see the abduction/human trafficking/molestation side of this These women could have mothers , sons, etc. this is why these babies mamas take these rappers and athletes to the cleaners for child support. Let the man get his money any way he want but there are consequences to this shit. I ain’t judging the man , but look how fucked yo our women act nowadays?!🤔
No it wasn’t, Hustle & Flow was loosely based on a Memphis Underground Rapper named Tommy Wright lll, who had a notable beef with Bone Thugs back in the 90’s, he was also a notorious pimp.
I can see Sugafree just “bussin” out at any moment during the interview with .... “up in the morning tryna make my bed/I don’t give a fuck about screenshots I know what the fuck I said”! 🤣
Bruh he said, "when i got home i told my homie my new name suga-free, he said you sure?.. i said yeah ni**a watch, he said aight ima ride it out with you big homie😆😭😭
Its also a song of his first album "Street Gospel" called "County Jail Song". The album is a west coast classic with Dj Quik production throughout so if you havnt listened, do it!
Im not sure if this interview actually happened in the order the clips are shown but it seems that he is relaxing more and more as the interview goes on...
Vlad needs to interview Rodney C and Joe Cooley. That would be some West coast deep cuts. They were really the first West coast rappers to put out records and tour nationally before EVERYONE.
I kicked it with suga free once, chilled at his grandma's house in Compton them ladies were nice enough to offer me some gumbo when I had to use the restroom inside. Chilled after at suite with free and this man, ID PUT SUGA FREE UP AGAINST ANY RAPPER ALIVE in freestyling for real! This man can put together some cold ass rhymes and with the pimp cadence of a pimp c..... even colder this man was freestyling all dam night talking about "say a word, anything point something out " we all did and he rapped about all the things we mentioned or pointed at with some pimp shit!!!
Everyone n they mama needed Sugar Free when he came he was like God no had the world in his hands He changed the pimpin game n the world There will no another Sugar Free Stay up Big Pimpin
I remember watching the movie The Eastsidaz with Snoop, Tray Dee and Goldie Loc. That was the first time I ever heard of Suga Free. I just thought it was a pimp name, like Bishop Magic and Iceberg Slim. Lol crazy thing was that I was only a kid, maybe 14/15!
I seen cuz knock a beat out on table with a pencil in one hand and a quarter in the other and he freestyled over the beat.....I ain't ever see or hear a nigga do some shit so cold like that
