These Drums Sound Vintage and Modern...at the same time? (Sugar Percussion Solid Wood Mahogany)
In this video I'm going to demo a beautiful Solid Wood Mahogany drum kit from Sugar Percussion. The dimensions of this kit are a kick drum of 20x13, floor tom at 14x13, 12x7 rack tom , and a 14x6 snare.
This solid wood mahogany kit has the warmth of a vintage kit while somehow still having the crisp and crack of a modern drum kit. It is truly the best of both worlds.
Check out my demo of a Sugar Percussion 5x14 painted poplar drum here: • Sugar Percussion 5x14 ...

I love this. Love that you recorded and mixed them. Nobody is ever listening to RAW DRUMS. Great vid man.

Appreciate you man! You are very correct - I have yet to record on a song where the release went unmixed. Haha

I've had my Painted Poplar kit for a few years now and I can't reinforce a lot of what you said in this video enough: -There is something going on with these drums that I can't put my finger on, but they are incredibly fun to play. -Low-end, incredibly true. You can keep cranking the snare and it will almost always still have the lower fundamental hanging out. -I've not played another kit that FEELS like this kit does under your hand. They just respond to your touch in a way that I've not experienced with any other kit. What other kit have you played that you can put a head on with no tension, tap it, and hear a note. They are just incredible, and if you can afford the monthly payment, they're worth it. Jefferson (as of the time of posting this comment) will take a deposit and then let you pay over 12 months. No financing, no credit check, just the honesty of a craftsman and an artist. In the years I've followed Sugar Percussion, maybe once has someone been shitty and taken advantage of that relationships, and they promptly got called out and harangued by the IG crowd. They're expensive, they're boutique, they're ethereal, and god damn are they worth every penny.

Agreed! I take my painter poplar snare to every session I do and it’s the one drum that will make everyone in the room ask “woah - what’s that snare?!”
