There can only be one greatest. Ray is it. Feel free to like my group on Facebook. - www. GeneroEdits Song i used was " Ludovico Einaudi - Experience "
Dam I don't know anymore, when I look at SRR's fights I see iron mikes ferocity, Ali's foot work, big George's knock outs, just can't understand how amazing this man is.
If Sugar Ray was in this Generation of boxing he would have All these fake ass belts - Junior welterweight, Super welterweight, Ultra Supreme Welterweight, Junior Middleweight, Baby Middleweight, Senior Middleweight, light but sort of heavy Middleweight, Midsize Middleweight, Super Middleweight, Super Ultra Mega Extreme WBO Middleweight championship.
ray wud be doing mma lol, boxing is going to be here when you are gonna be dead you know my friend, you ufc guys dissin todays boxing because mma is just not better and you know it
This clip is so moving along with the music. Combined, it really describes how swift yet lethal SRR was as a boxer but at the same time the flow of this sound sums up the beauty of his skill in the ring. I am a 90's kid but recently discovering about SRR and his achievements is as close as discovering gold - that's what this guy was no doubt. #truechamp
Fought in a time where PEDS, special diets, professional trainers, and advanced scientific knowledge of the human body were non existent and still his overall skill level is beyond words. There will never be a fighter quite like Ray Robinson.
This is one of the most greatest highlights ever. Well composed. You almost feel like if you were in that era witnessing greatness. Ali's tributes we're good to but honestly this one by srr blows away Ali's highlights. For real
Barry McAllister and when they fought 2-4 Times a Month,These Guys can't Squeeze that out of A Year! Those guys were Hungry, During WW1& 2..you couldn't cherry pick!
Goddamn did Jake LaMotta have one hell of a fucking chin. Sadly, they just don't make chins like that anymore.... Needless to say, this is the best SRR tribute on RU-vid, kudos. R.I.P. the *TRUE* G.O.A.T.
Lamotta had a decent chin but Lamotta said it himself; people focus too much on chin and ignore defense. Lamotta was a very awkward fighter who knew exactly when to ''roll'' with punches and he would very frequently duck under punches. Lamotta didn't take as much punishment as people pretend he did.
I only saw Robinson at the end of his long career, but if Muhammad Ali says Sugar Ray was the greatest, then he must have been the greatest. Great chin, great hand speed, great punch, what else could you want?
Sugar Ray has to be considered the best boxer of all time. He fought in a time where the level of coaches and training weren't high level and at a time when steroids weren't being abused by everyone. On top of all that his technique, fluidity, combinations and even his ability to fight on the inside whilst showing good defense is incredible and his left hook is one of the best ever. Sugar Ray is incredible considering he fought in the 50s,fought every month and had that much skill.
Yeah, & unlike the modern day Sugar, Robinson went broke like a lot of fighters.just goes to show u gotta know what to do with ur finances& know how to deal with the sharks on two legs that will take advantage.
He was dangerous with his hands but lets be real he was fighting a bunch of bums how many of all those wins were notable fighters Besides like maybe a few? Look at fighters like roy jones jr and who they have beat or even floyd mayweather even though the record is far less wins they beat some very great boxers in there era.
@@Djuane You cant be serious ? What bums . Everybody on here were good fighters. The man beat Lamotta, Sadler, Armstrong, basilio , fullmer , graziano , bobo Wilson, turpin , and many more great fighters. Bums? Roy beat nothing but bums at light heavyweight are you kidding me. And Roy had no chin and bad fundamentals robbie would smash him as well.
@@Djuane And who the hell floyd beat but a bunch of C class fighters who gave him hell . Imma wait . Robinson had two times as many ko'd than Floyd had fights. Ray had 100 kos in 170 fights. He had almost 100 fights before his first loss ! He would murder Floyd as well at 147 it's no competition . Maidana gave Floyd trouble! Maidana beat him in my opinion the first fight . Old Mosely hurt Floyd a young Sugar Shane would get Floyd outta there . Chop Chop corley almost koed Floyd. Stop it please. The man was 5"11 with a 72 in. reach. One punch power in both hands and a granite chin with the heart of a lion .
The scary thing is that every video we see of Sugar Ray Robinson is when he was PAST his PRIME..as NO footage exists of Sugar Ray Robinson when he was in his peak prime..that is insane! Even a hasbeen Sugar Ray Robinson would beat Floyd Mayweather Jr :S hehe
SUGAR RAY ROBINSON was the greatest boxer and fighter that ever stepped into the ring. We will never ever see this level of greatness ever again. He truly was the greatest, case closed.
SUGAR'S legs were stiff, what planet are you living on? MUHAMMAD ALI stole SUGAR'S style completely. Anyway, MUHAMMAD ALI, as great as he was, wasn't in the same league as the greatest, SUGAR RAY ROBINSON. SUGAR RAY ROBINSON was the fastest boxer ever. Nobody had the quickness and hand speed as RAY ROBINSON.
I thought I saw some Rye style in Mohammad I assumed he may have took some of his moves but he advanced on them and took it to the another level, but sugar is great as well no doubt
Boxing is a sport All boxers has fans of their own its stupid to compare boxers to other generations of boxers. Robinson time was different they were literally fighting almost every week so they can live. I doubt Ray Robinson would've fought over 200 bouts if he made the same money as Mayweather that's the honest to God truth. Life was rough for boxers in the 50s they had to fight and they had to fight often records was a big deal back then but its wasn't as big of a deal like today. Because there were soo much great boxers in the 50s in order to reach a legendary status you had to fight and beat them. Floyd Mayweather is hands down the best boxer in his GENERATION. but to say he could beat Robinson is a bit of a joke because the question is "What Era could Floyd beat Robinson?" Because Robinson era was brutal. The Gloves was smaller,Boxers was allow to grab,or pull down other boxers heads, the ref didn't get involved during the fight and they made sure a fighter took a real beating before stopping the fight. Floyd wouldn't be comfortable or confidant in a fight where looking to the referee help was useless. But the same would be for Robinson as well if he fought Floyd Mayweather in his Era, he would have a hard time with the increase of glove side and that a fighter could win just on counter punching alone without being aggressive. so whose better is not so black and white. I love and respect both fighters but I can't compare the two because of their era were soo damn different. you would have to really do some research before you can say this guy would beat that guy
+Mauricio007 capo (GhostRider) I would say yes, specifically because of the fact that these guys never, and I mean never, took a break from training and fighting. Sugar Ray fought 200 fights in his career. This system of one fight every few months/years is so far behind the level of intensity Sugar's day had. He fought Jake LaMotta one October, had 4 fights before facing him again in February, just 4 months later, and then fought him a third time in that same month, with another fight between that rematch. The guy fought 2-3 fights a month on the regular, all year round. Yeah, he'd take a month off once in awhile, but that's just being smart. Rich, and smart.
Ok, then find another fighter who fought 200 times in his professional career, you can't. Sugar was brutal, he fought 3 times in 3 weeks. He would knock Mayweather out in 2016 and he would knock him out in 1950. The time has nothing to do with it. The man won 178 fights, 108 by knock out, most fighters had not even that much fights. This man was a genius, he was the inspiration for Muhammad Ali-s boxing style. Sugar Ray Robinson was the best pound for pound boxer who ever stepped in the ring. He would have ripped Mayweather in pieces.
Mirsad Causevic Yes time has everything to do with it.Robinson time had smaller gloves vs Floyd Era where the gloves are bigger Robinson in his 200 plus Fight never face a Fighter as fast nor Moved alot like himself. its the same with Floyd the Fight between Floyd vs Ray isnt soo Black and white
It's very easy to claim to be the best boxer in history. Everyone can do that. That's why we have many boxers claiming to be The Best Of All Time. But the only best of all time is Sugar Ray Robinson. His record speaks to himself. 128 fight and losing only one of them is no joke. He was unbeatable in his prime years. Not to mention the fact that he fought as much as 16 fights in a single year. Even when he passed his prime, he was great. Fighting a total of 200 and losing 19 one of them. He lost 15 fights after he was 36. Named the best boxer P4P by many legends like Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Leonard, Floyd Patterson, and much more.... He really is the greatest P4P of all time.
I disagree I haven't heard too many boxes say they are tbe I will say this if anybody has the right to claim TBE is Sugar Ray Robinson, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, or Floyd Mayweather that's my opinion it is beyond me why anybody would say Robinson can knockout Floyd Mayweather I'm pretty sure he could if Floyd Mayweather Stood Still but that's not the Floyd I know the Floyd I know with use his brains and outbox I don't know who would win but I damn sho can say I don't picture either one losing
+Rastaman Miller Watch Castillo vs Mayweather 1. Injury or no injury, fighters from back in the day always fought my friend. Mayweather got beat up, battered and beat to the punch. They robbed Castillo because Mayweather had the better record and more potential in the boxing world. If they would have gave Castillo the win, that castillo rightfully deserved. Then Mayweather's name would not be as big and he could have still done record breaking numbers but Mayweather would have never retired 2 times in a row
Rafael Murillo Castillo? Are you talking about that guy that was two weight classes above Mayweather the guy who has the wrap one arm around Mayweather's waste so he can punch with the other one because he can't land a clean punch on Floyd unless he's holding Floyd please watch that fight again Floyd outboxed him yeah he had a couple of heavy shots not on Floyd's face but on the body but they were far in between and the only reason they seem heavy was because he's two weight classes above Floyd other than that Floyd landed more shots he landed the cleaner shots Floyd doesn't have to hold onto his opponent's chest to land a shot. It was a good fight it could go either way but if you seen the rematch it proves even more who won the first fight cuz in the second he just gave up he knew he couldn't beat Floyd
Robinson had more KOs (108) than Mayweather and Pacquiao have COMBINED WINS. That says it all in terms of his place at the top, to this day. SRR defeated 11 different TRUE champions (8 divisions not the countless phony ones which exist today) an astounding total of 23 times. This, despite stepping away from boxing for 2 & 1/2 years in his early 30s (1952-55).
@mickee06 The fact that are even comparing srr to Floyd is just shamefull myfriend... The 2 of them aRE NoT even on the same league!!... Floyd is by far a worst fighter then this man, and btw in those times fighters would Not fight for points!! they fight to win, and win or loose they left Every Fcng Thing inside the ring! thy why u got so many Good fighters back in the day like M.Ali, J.Louis Jack Johnson Rocky Marciano Tyson That is why Floyd would not even Apear on the Top 10 best fighters of all time Not even in a million years
No one can tell. If Mayweather live in Robinson's era, Mayweather for sure could have been more sharper because of the deep of competition and lack of opportunities. Perhaps he will not be an undefeated but more skillful and sharper. (While Pacquiao probably will failed to become an 8 divisions world champion at this era.) I'll pick any day a more sharper and more crafty Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Ace Alvarez we got some sicko,s out There. This was the Actual Fight, segment that was "Done with A Slow motion Effect, with Deniro! The St.Valentine,s Day Massacre!
Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest in all aspects of boxing. He was very fast, very powerful, threw combinations like nobody every will again. Had a great chin. Great will to win. endurance. Stamina. Footwork. Boxing ability. Counterpunching. Straight Right, Left Hook, Uppercuts will knockout anybody. He did it all.
No one in the history of boxing is near this dude. He would rip Floyd apart. He's literally a stronger and more aggressive Manny Pacquiao. This is the best boxing video I've ever seen. This is the best fighter I've ever seen. Good God.
Mayweather groupie below me I see. SRR would dismantle Floyd . A true middleweight with other world power and speed . Not an inflated welterweight who picks favorite refs, gloves, etc and skims by on the cards.
saddest thing is business, politics, timing and even his own greatness denied him of fulfilling his full potential. he could have been the first lightweight to win a middleweight title if Sammy Anggott dared to depend his world lightweight title to Sugar Ray. he could have been the first welterweight champion to win a light heavyweight title if not because of the bad weather that made the Yankee stadium so hot. He could have been a world welterweight champion earlier and made more defenses if the war didn't broke out. He could have been reach an even greater heights if not all these things happened.
Truly the best pound for pound fighter of all times If boxers today had half is heart and determonation boxing would still worth watching srr The Best Among all the rest
Ali said he was the best heavyweight of all time, but p4p, Sugar was the best to ever do it. he continued on to talk about how pretty everything he did was.
It's chilling the effect his punches have on people. You see devistating punchers today like GGG who's punches seem to break peoples will more than knock them completely senseless, when Ray lands it seems to completely sever them from their consciousness completely, scary.
well soo many floyd fans in a srr video . i think floyd defense is one of the greatest if he didnt get knockout by srr on any round he would win for point as it is in most of his career , at the same time he never fought smeone as powerful and quick as srr u may say saul but he wasnt that fast or powerful so dont compare srr could knock him out easily if he catch him wrong but.... mayweather = points
Correction: Muhammad Ali was the greatest heavyweight of all time. (Some can also argue Louis.) However, Sugar Ray Robinson was truly the greatest boxer to ever live. Pound for pound, he was unstoppable. You'll never see Ray Robinson at his greatest because most of his bouts were unfortunately not recorded. However compare his W/L record and his entire career to Muhammad's. Sorry but it is pretty clear who the better boxer was.
200 fights man and nothing on youtube on his welterweight career. most fighter these from back then used head movement rather then running away. ray robinson anticipates his opponents movements alot and strike where ever theyre ducking, slippin, etc. floyd is the best today but the competition completely different. floyd wouldnt move robinson with his punches and jabs are the easiest to land against floyd. ray can more easily get inside then cotto or anyother fighter he fought and more power.
sugar ray has to be considered the greatest ability wise boxer of all time-his style has been the benchmark for all top black american fighters-and I can't see how mayweather could of beaten a Sugar Ray in his prime-just as quick and KO puncher-Floyd has never showed this kind of power-but I rate floyd as the best defensive boxer of all time-but Ray would of got him
Ray would have got him for two main reasons: he could walk thru Floyd with no problem, having barely ever even been knocked down by much harder punchers, and he had one-punch KO power if you watch Floyd when Judah and Mosley got to him, it was Floyd's offense that turned the tide: those two guys started getting hit, which forced them to be less offensive-minded Floyd only has one advantage on Ray, and that's defense, But it takes more than defense alone to win a fight Floyd would have no chance at welter. NONE
I think Floyd would of blocked most of Ray's punches . But I agree Sugar Ray was way stronger and would of prolly hurt Floyd late in the fight . Sugar Ray Robinson in 14 rounds via stoppage. Floyd would prolly be done by round 13.But I say first 8 rounds Floyd would prolly school Ray with his defensive style and skill set. But after the 9th round I see Ray putting that pressure on him until round 15.
This man was a legend in every way he had the uppercuts of Mike tyson and Ali mixed he had the power of George foreman the left hook of Joe frazier the endurance of rocky marciano the footwork & stamina of Ali and then mixed all of these & truly became unstoppable. And also all of these boxing footages are in his mid 30s he wasn't even in his prime and the footages of his prime are not even properly recorded
He would be impossible to beat in street fight he had vicious speed he could knock u out either hand and above all a iron chin and the will of a winner !!
too many belts and divisions nowadays also boxing too me has regressed in skill and popularity fighters are entirely way too scared to fight each other to
as a mayweather fan I don't see how floyd matches up to honest, Jab always beer the most successful punch against Floyd, Sugar Ray had that, plus he was SO physically imposing as Welterweight it would have been to much for Floyd. Not to mention he is the bigger puncher, Faster guy, Longer reach (how often had TBE had to deal with that) and equally cerebral as Floyd but fight at a much faster pace. Floyd wouldn't be able to keep him from coming. 10TH rd TKO
THE BEST BOXER EVER, YESTERDAY & TODAY, IN HIS BEST MOMENT WAS FAST & STRONG LIKE A THUNDER, A FABULOUS TECHNIQUE FOR THAT TIME, BRAVE LIKE A LION. HE WAS THE PERFECTION IN THE WELTERWEIGHT, IN MIDDLEWEIGHT HE HAS THE BEST FIGHTS EVER, THE HAD THE GREATEST OPPONENTS OF THE HISTORY IN THAT DIVISION (IN THE GOLDEN AGE), HOW DARE MAYWEATHER TO SAY HE IS BETTER THAN HIM OR MARCIANO, INCLUSIVE TO COMPARE HIM, MAYBE THEY ARE LIVED IN DIFFERENT ERAS, BUT FLOYD IS NOT TO THE HIGH, & HE NEVER FOUGHT WITH MONSTER OF THE RING LIKE HIM, RAY ROBINSON NEVER RAN, HE NEVER HID, HE ALWAYS SHOW GUTS, COURAGE & BRAVENESS, AN AUNTENTIC WARRIOR, HE WAS A LIVING SCHOOL FOR THE GREATNESS AND THE GLORY WHOM A LOT OF CHAMPIONS GREW, A TRUE ROLE MODEL, IT IS SOMETING THAT THE MONEY NEVER GOING TO BUY, YOU HAVE TO GAIN IT, THIS IS WHAT REALLY GIVES VALUE TO A TRUE CHAMPION & A HUMAN BEING. INCLUSIVE MUHAMMAD ALI SAID THAT; "SUGAR RAY ROBINSON IS THE GREATEST BOXER OF ALL TIMES".
eyes wide open EXACTLY, Ali said that, inclusive the people said Ali was a Robinson in heavyweight class during his young days. after that Ali build his own style using the robinson's style like the foundation.
Jimmy Doyle died hours after the fight against Sugar Ray, he was fighting to offer is mother an house. Sugar Ray Johnson gave the earning of his 4 next fights to Doyle's mother so she could finally buy it...
Far and away the most fearsome fighter I have seen. My hero is Sugar Ray Leonard, who in my opinion would have ko'd Floyd Mayweather Jr. But even SGL wouldn't have beaten this guy ! The hook at 0257 may be the best punch I have ever seen. Just amazing. Want to know what The Best looks like? Watch this guy !
