Sugaring Hair Removal Recipe and Demo 

Tips to make the sugaring paste work well: add two tablespoons of your acid (lemon juice/vineagar/whatever). Also, stir slowly and almost constantly, you're basically making taffy for waxing. On that note, don't just play with the mixture a little once it's on the plate, do it constantly and fold it over and scoop the edges to the middle until it's cool enough to touch, remember, we're making waxing taffy. After it's cool to the touch scrape it up and pull it and fold it over for about 6 minutes. The longer you kneed it the better it will work. It should be sticking to your own fingers like tape. If it gets too sticky dip your hands alternately in cold water and that will fix it. Finally. when heating it, it will get light yellow, then a rich golden, and then light orange, and the smell will start to change, take it off the heat and put it on the cool plate right then. that way you don't make hard candy (which is good for Halloween but not for removing hair). I've watched a lot of sugaring videos, but evey time I made the wax it would never turn such a light color, and would end up melting in my hand like honey. I tried this recipe and it worked! I followed it exactly from the description box. Mine ended up cooking maybe 9-12 mins, around medium heat. I did the water in the pan and the plate on top, everything. I was afraid it would melt in my hand BC it was so warm. I had to add water to my hands a few times. A KEY for me was to smash it between my hands and squeeze it in my fist, before stretching it with my finger tips. My fingertips BC they sweat a lot less at the tip. The wax slowly became tacky, and would 'pop' as I stretched it . It kept getting more like taffy and lighter and lighter, until it was a light tan color. I split it in half for each leg and it took me about 10 mins per leg.. I'm not very good at it yet. BC it took me so long, it started to get too soft bc of my body heat, so I held it up against the air conditioning for a few seconds bc my hands were sweaty. I can see myself doing it very quickly the more I try it. I learned some very effective techniques to flick off the wax and get all the hair, it even got fun! for me this recipe didn't work out the first time the paste just kept beeing way too runny so I tried 1 cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon of water and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and it worked out perfectly

A note on the lemon juice: it has to be fresh. Juice it from actual lemons if you can If the lemon juice is old or diluted it won't work. You need the juice to be really sour, that sour is the acid that will help the sugaring wax work.

OK so the same thing happened toe when I tried it yesterday but what I found out was that my hands were too wet which is why my wax kept turninh runny when I went to knead it. I tried it again this morning and I just dipped my fingers in the cold water and shook them off really well when I started kneading it and it came out and worked perfectly!!! 😊 great tutorial!! thank you!

I learned something useful from my mom as she is a pharmacist: If your sugar wax is too sticky, soft, runny, it might be because you put too much vinegar. Vinegar is an acid which can cause the mixture to be runny or soft if added too much. Just follow the recipe given above or use one cup sugar, a teaspoon of salt, 1/4 or 1/5 cup of water, and 2-3 teaspoons of vinegar or lemon juice or whatever. :D

I've made this kind of paste several times using several different recipes (including this one). Every single time it looks and feels perfect- exactly like the video. When I put it on my hairy-ass legs (haven't shaved all winter- don't judge me, I'm talking about Canadian winters where nothing but your nose and cheeks are touched by sunlight for 6 months) IT DOESNT WORK *sobs in a corner*

Don't despair people ,i've been using sugaring for past few years to do full body and the hair comes backs finer and less but even my sugaring batches come out to soft or hard, if you put to much water or cook it for less time the wax becomes soft and sticky if you cook it too long wax becomes to hard , so it has to be right quantity of ingredients and right length of cooking time which comes after lots of practice. what i found is light amber wax is to soft, to dark and you've burnt the wax. best wax is when you turn it into Arabian wax like the video it grips the hair more ,less painful and comes off quicker. applying talcum powder to the area to be waxed works better. feels like I've written an essay. Don't give up people once you've got the hang of it you won't use anything else. i try different videos all the time sometimes they work some don't due to my own cooking method.good luck. and also once you start using the wax if it starts to get soft its because of your body temp put it in clingfilm and freeze it for 5mins and reuse again.

Recipient is off.....this is what you need and it will make PLENTY! 1C sugar 1/4 cup water 1 tsp salt 2-3 tsp lemon juice or your preferred acid. should be damp sugar/salt mixture before it melts. I hope this helps

Apple Cider or Apple Cider Vinegar? Just want to be sure. This recipe and demo are the best I have seen yet for easier clean up. However, I think the liquid amounts should be adjusted. Will try very soon :)

The recipe that I found is just one cup sugar and half a cup eon juice, depending on the lemon if it's ti smaller ones then it you'll need both but normally one whole lemons and sometimes a a half is needed and you boil it on medium heat until it's like a dark golden brown almost like maple syrup

It's not working. Mine came out runny like honey and it won't solidify like taffy. What makes it runny? Too much water? Too long/short heating time? Not enough sugar? I'm so confused.

Two questions: 1) Will the recipe work the same with brown sugar? 2) Is there a way to reheat the paste if I don't have a microwave?

Reading through the comments, it seems like this recipe needs a candy thermometer. You are making caramel. There are specific stages when cooking sugar. Take it too far, it will be hard. Not reversible. If you don't cook it long enough, it will be too sticky. If you are familiar with candy making or with sugaring, you can tell visually. Otherwise, you need a candy thermometer (and need to know what temp this needs to be) or at the very least, use the cold water tests.

I have a gas oven (so idk if it will be different cooking) but o used 1 cup sugar 1/4 vinegar and 1/4 water and then let that cook until it was a yellow honey colour took it off and put it in a metal bowl. Every couple minutes I would move the bowl to another part of the counter where it was a bit colder and continually moved the sugar in wards on its self until I could touch it. I don't kneed it tho, and it works perfectly fine without kneeding

My mom told me to lessen the lemon. Then i put just a little bit. 3 drops. Then it worked.: )

it works great and you barely feel pain, but i wouldn't consider this because the stickiness, it can get stuck on ur skin, and you have to use elbow grease to clean all your tools

I originally followed another video with pretty much the same exact recipe and instructions. The first attempt i couldn't even pick it up ... watery honey(?) is how I would describe it. Following advice from some comments I left it on the heat longer. That only caused it to become as hard as a rock. I then thought I needed a happy medium and it would work! I watched this video several times, and my wax ACTUALLY had that "taffy" consistency! I was so excited because I was ready for it to work and my kitchen was a mess. I had been planning on waxing, the hair was long enough...and the wax was sticky. But it didn't pull out the hair. Okay, it pulled out ONE. If ANYONE has explanations?? Should I just give up and pay someone to do it right?

How do I make the wax sticky enough to actually stick to the hair? The process works well but then it will not grab on to the hairs.

I like to make a jar full of the paste at a time. Can I make a larger batch and place in a glass jar to cool and it still have the same consistency?

Mine is super sticky too! It won't hold together in a ball. It just like syrup or sap! Please help. And I noticed in the video it says 1.5 lemon juice an in you caption it says 2. Please verify. And how Many minutes did you keep yours on the stove??

You don't need almond oil or any kind of oil to remove sugar wax, just warm water. And yea, i think i burned mine, but where i come from that is like... a sugar paste bar or whatever, hard wax, its like... less than a dollar each. Too bad i can't find it here tho..

I used your instructions for making the paste and it's OK for the first 3 pulls and then it becomes too sticky. I have tried with new ball over the sticky one and nothing happens, remains sticky. What am I doing wrong?

It didn't quite work for me... too runny. As soon as it even slightly warmed up in my hands, it was unmanageable. Maybe I didn't heat it long enough? It turned a dark caramel color and looked the same consistency as the video? I felt like the water in the plate and on my hands just kept incorporating itself into the sugar paste, making it more liquidey. I used organic lemon juice in a squirt bottle, going to try fresh lemon juice or apple cider vin. next time.

Is it supposed to be dark brown or golden? Because when you do it it looks gold and when you put it into the plate it looks more honey colored. I've done it twice already and it hasn't worked :(

Help! I am unable to get the wax thick/ plyable. It is always runny. I did everything in the video, it's just when I am supposed to knead/play with it. It just gets between my fingers and run down them.... UGH so frustrating. What am I doing wrong?

I tired this and my hand were very very sticky and it burned me when I tried to kneed it. I waited for it to cool a little bit more and it hardened too quickly when I tried to kneed again.
