I decided to try Sugar Waxing, here is how you make the syrup/sugar wax to use. The video is good clear easy to follow instructions. I didn't use a thermometre and it came out great! The next vid will show you the different ways I tried waxing with the syrup.
Tips from other youtubers: From: kaysas32701 Ok I wanted to give a tip bc i tried this with both brown and white sugar (separate times of course) and with lemon juice as the acid and vinegar a different time as the acid. The problem i had was the wax was never syrupy enough at the temp to place on the body and was too hot if it was syrupy. I then had a bright idea: I warmed it up to pretty syrupy (stirrable) then added about 1/4 cup water in. I kept stiring until it all mixed in. It was syrupy at a normal waxing temp (100F ish). it doesn't get hard when coolef, its pliable like cool honey and like store brand sugar waxes (I'm comparing it to the texture of Nair Mango sugar wax). (even works on Brazilian for me)! Anyway hope this helps!

This TIP from Crunchy 68 if your syrup cools to hard candy: soften it in the microwave, and added about 2-3 tbsp water to help soften it, this makes it stretchy & sticky even when totally cool. I spread some of that on a cloth strip, covered with a second cloth strip, peeled them apart, and each strip then worked (cold) like a pre-waxed store bought strip. Re-useable 4-5 times each.

if it gets hard when cooled you can reheat with some tablespoons of water and remix. The key is too make sure you simmer it and only bring it to the boil once. It's soo tempremental tho, the only other way to have sucess is with a candy thermometre

i've tried this recipe...since it was really late at night and there was no lemon juice to be found..i've used apple vinegar instead...and seems that i have no wax strips i just used ordinary paper to replace the wax strips and it works!! i got really excited...thanks for this beautiful recipe...

There's 2 reactions, 1 the histamine reaction which looks like little red dots (this is where the hair has been pulled out by the root and the follicle isn't happy, the body naturally has a histamine reaction) = normal. 2) The skin goes pink/red, this is the skin reacting rather than the hair follicle, sensitive skin people will experience redness on their skin, aloe vera, tea tree lotion will help soothe it.

It worked PERFECTLY. Like for those who keeps getting it watery, like you must simmer the mix until it's like a golden color, also stir it regularly. When it begins to cool down it should be at the consistency of syrup.

@bullboyz15200 no 2 cups of sugar (so i used a 1 cup size measuring cup) and 1/4 cup lemon juice, so i used exactly a 1/4 cup measuring cup size

@mohsinakma weird, if you have never waxed before it is normal to have 'blood spotting' but that is after some hair coming out. just do small patches and if no hair comes out I'd stop

Carmel is made from condensed milk boiled in a pan of boiling water in a can for 8 hours, but wax is sugar water and some lemon or lime juice boiled on high heat for the purpose of hair removel, both have similar appeance but diffrent taste and uses, i tasted the wax and had a bitter burnt sugar taste it wasnt pleasnt, dont ruin ur toast, use honey or syrup instead, trust me

@scarlet2589 try putting a couple of tablespoons of extra water in with the gel into the microwave and heat and stir.... also you can smear the hot gel on a strip to start then put that on the leg.

On my 2nd try at making sugar wax, I followed lilikoilooks' directions using white sugar and my wax turned to hard candy. After a while I found your video with its other tips and added water to my wax with a few drops of lemon and put it back to boil. I removed it when it had a honey-like consistency and let it cool for about 30 mins. I was finally able to use it to wax my eyebrows. Thanks!

@Bookgirl12345 sugar is a bit temperamental - if it isn't spreading it either was cooked too long or too high BUT you can try to add 1 or 2 tablespoons of water to it and put it in the microwave then stir (just be careful not to add too much water or it might go too runny). Otherwise if it does goes to running you can apply straight onto the strip then apply to the skin

Oh and for those who succeeded into making the batch, but did not pull any hair. REMEMBER YOU HAVE TO PULL THE HAIR THE OPPOSITE WAY ITS GROWING.. otherwise it won't work. So if you have to wax your legs, pull the strip from the BOTTOM, not the top otherwise you'll barely get a hair.

@lulzychan ouchie MAMA! If the sugar does this - it's overcooked and won't work, it's a fine line between it cooking just right and overcooking, you have to keep dipping the spoon into the mix and putting under water then checking the consistency of it whilst cooking, it's awful that you've burned yoursef - aloe is great for burns and cooling, mandarin essential oil and lavender are both great for healing too xx

it didn´t work for me at first... the first time I did it with vinegar, the sugar cristallyzed. Then with that same Cristallyzed sugar, I reheated it and added lemon juice and it worked!! thank youuuu soo much... love you for teaching us this amazing recipe ♥

i know right? i just tried this..it took more than 30 min to get to this and i waited more than 15 min to cool down..it was way too hot and then the wax got harder.. - -

She has over cooked it that's why. You're supposed to let it boil until the mix turns a light yellow colour then allow it cool. Her mix is way too dark.

i had the same problem. i let it cool completely to rock hard, added a tiny bit of water (maybe 2 tbs) and microwaved it for 15 seconds and it worked perfect. after using, if it stops working, just add a couple drops of water again

Try a different recipe there's a bunch of them on here everyone has different types of hair, what works for one person might not be the strength that you need !

@julievornoe you can't use powder with sugaring - only hot wax, make sure you don't have any moisturizer or oil on your legs as sugar won't stick if so... wipe your legs clean with alcohol wipes (not baby wipes - it leaves a residue) or wash with soap and make sure skin is dry

@candieelovee Do you mean after waxing/sugaring? yes it is safe BUT you must avoid vigorious exercise or heavy sweating 24 hours after waxing as the follicles are open and you don't want sweat to enter the open follicle.

Try to exfoliate your skin a couple of days before. You can use the leftover coffee grinds and add honey, this makes a mixture that smells awesome and you can use it in the shower, rub gently. Exfoliating with coffee will increase the blood flow to the surface of the skin and you can even feel your hands with a pumping sensation, is for the caffeine. If you have another thing to exfoliate your skin, go ahead, even a brush with aloe vera soap or oatmeal soap can make it. Just be sure to repeat it a couple of days before so the dead skin is removed and the hairs will be trapped by the wax.

@shayla95 yeah when it cools it becomes hard (unless you monitor the temperature whilst cooking with a candy themometre) soooo what you can do is put a teaspoon or 2 of water in with the hard sugar then microwave slowly and stir until the consistency is back to a gel type but not too hot to use.

Great recipe! Helped a lot, thank you. The thing I would recommend to everybody is to tear some old bed cotton sheets or pants and every time you've used one, just dunk it in a pan with hot water and use another one. After waxing is complete and you're out of rags, just wash them as usual, dry normally and they are ready for the next time. No need to buy strips in drugstores...

+Nimzy Contreras it might need to be cooked slightly longer. Have you ever made it successfully? What I do now is get a white napkin and get a sample of a successful batch on there so I know what color I'm working towards. Also it usually burns if I use a metal whisk, now I only use a wooden spoon like in the video and also like in the video I stir it constantly, it takes longer to cook but I feel it cooks more evenly. If it's only sticky when way too hot to use try adding a teaspoon of water. Heat it up stir well and add more if needed but be very careful if you add too much it won't work.

@1989sanam hi there, if the sugar is too hot definitely don't apply it to the skin. if it's too hard when it is cool enough to be ok for the skin it's not the right consistency. What some people do is add another couple of tablespoons of water and remicrowave it and stir it and keep doing this until the consistency and temperature is right. OR you could smother some of the wax strips with the gel when it is hot and then use once it warms down on the strip...

@BlueBathRobes you can go over areas again with the sugar to get the missed hairs. Otherwise if that didn't work and the length of the hair was ok (not too short) then you'd need to make another batch or tweeze

@bananaaa96 So it's sticky and not hard but when you apply it it doesn't take off hair? Make sure you have no moiturizer or excessive skin oil on the area you are sugaring - precleanse with an alcohol wipe

@carmen2005636 If the sugar is hard you can soak the utensils and pot in boiling or very hot water, it takes a while to dissolve but it will as sugar is water soluable.

@Elzee101 Make sure your skin doesn't have any moisturizer on it, isn't oily and is dry. Best way to prep skin for sugar/waxing is to wipe with an alcohol wipe

This happens when it's not cooked right - it's a tempremental gel to make. you have to add more water or even a teapsoon or oil and microwave slowly and stir until warm and storable

Any type of thermal shock can cause glass to shatter, not just from frozen/cold glass. It's a rapid increase/descrease in temperature that causes the shattering. Pouring boiling hot sugar mixture into a room temperature glass cup definitely qualifies as an extreme temperature change.

Hi. I decided to try making this today and I watched the video again. I decided to improvise instead. I used 2 cups of organic sugar, TWO 1/2 cups of hot water and TWO 1/2 cups of lemon juice. (I ran out of lemon juice on the second 1/2 cup so it was more or less 1/2 cup. Turned the stove up and down for the first 5 minutes while stirring. (Still runny) Let it boil for another 5 minutes and noticed the bubbles getting brown. I stirred and was thick. I turned off stove, let it sit. PERFECT! :)

@Teethn22 Yip - you can keep it in a jar on the shelf and reuse by reheating. It will stay safe to use for months as long as it's got a lid on it

@JENNY9767 as you are cooking it you check regularly to by getting a bit on a teaspoon and then running under cool water briefly then checking the stretch and consistency of the gel with your fingers

@killthedumbmonkey guess what? I still have a jar of 1 year old sugar in a jar on my shelf - so yes it lasts and lasts. Sorry not sure about smaller honey batches, this recipe does work however when it cools it goes quite hard and you just have to reheat it till it becomes pliable.

I saw in many comments where people were asking if it is important to use lemon or what is its purpose for this recipe,lemon juice helps the wax to have the right consistency and without lemon the wax may become too hard and difficult to use,it helps the sugar to release its water quickly due to its acid and also prevents the sugar from burning(i'm not an expert but all these informations are from personal experience:D)

@weirdvideosyay it should be black, i think you did burn it. try the recipe with vinegar instead of lemon juice too next time it's better, if it's hard, heat it back up, scrap as much as you can off then boil the jug and put in to soak to dissolve the remaining stuff off the pot.

Mine worked fine with boiling, but it was more like simmering but sweet as if you make a video I'll check it out

@maguilek Great to hear it worked out for you! Awesome hey??!! Yes you can use vinegar instead of the lime or lemon juice, I haven't tried it but I'm told it makes a better sugar gel too.

@nuts4everything - if it cools and looks like a hard toffee then you can try heating it slowly back up in the microwave with a couple of tspoons of water, mix it up and it tends to be more workable and because you heat slowly it's not mega hot... hope that helps

i know a lot of people from the middle east, and this is what they use. they don't even use strips, just the same piece of sugary wax over and over by spread and pulling over and over. it works really well. i wished i had found this earlier. i went on a shopping hunt for this stuff for a man who brought his wife here, and she had no idea what it's called in english. i don't think she knew it was very easy to make at home.

if it goes hard, add more water to it tablespoon by tablespoon then heat it up slowly in microwave 5-10 second blats till it becomes a warm usable mixutre

Yes, I have a video showing how too, I don't see any disadvantages if you have allready dark upper lip hair.
