He doesn't seem like the type of guy who would review something just to rag on it so I'd guess if he reviews something, it's something he likes and so if you like what he likes already there's a good chance you'll dig what he's reviewing.
Rabeas an honest man, I think he's too much of an honest guy to the point he wouldn't review something bad just to get a cash grab. You know what you get with him.
@@TheCoronaMortis I dont think you get my point. It was more have a compliment to how insanely good he is at playing. He could make anything sound good, but would it sound the same if someone else was playing it?
@@-EndlessNameless- Well I’ve brought a fair few things he had reviewed and they’ve always lived up to expectations. Sure a lot of it is in your hands but it’s definitely what you see is what you get.
Sunovabitch…..There is an ARP 87 in the mail coming tomorrow and now I see this. Want one. Although Bea makes everything sound great. You could literally hand him a dog turd and he’d make it sound like angels.
I bought this pedal and am several months in now. The price was high and gave me pause before purchasing. So how do I feel now after a few months? I feel like the surface knobs and comprehensive understanding is easy to perceive and remember when programming. The BPM on the digital screen speaks my language and I love that I turn the knob and see the increments of time. The fidelity of sound is so authentic and distinct. I wish it was like $100.00 less, but I like that I went for the pedal anyway as I have found so many cool sounds. It seems to be the kind of guitar gear that is top tier in both sound and construction. It is very dimensional. It certainly has it's own vibe. If your budget allows it, and your passion for making distinct guitar sounds drive you heavily, you should go for it. It is inspiring and I have created some cool sounds from both thinking before manipulation of the pedal and then also after just spending lots of time dialing up interesting sounds for original material. It is intuitive. If you are a delay fiend, you should investigate.
@@jeremystone2658 No disrespect but that's a really short-sighted thing to say, and that line of thinking will bankrupt you no matter how much money you start with. Would you also apply the same logic to a REALLY GOOD tasting pack of chewing gum if somebody asked $100 for it? No? Why not? "Just earn more and save more, you'll get there and be able to buy that $100 pack of gum." See how dumb that sounds? It's not about the total amount of money something costs, it's about the value you get for paying that money. I'm not paying $550 for a delay pedal no matter how awesome it is, just like I'm not paying $100 for a pack of chewing gum.
@@joshuamichael4312 The level of repeats when feedback goes into oscillation. In most analogue delay pedals, even with delay mix way below the direct guitar signal, runaway feedback becomes louder than the guitar signal and with a high headroom amp just deafens everyone in the vicinity. I use DOD Rubberneck for this kind of effect, but I just HAVE to put it before overdrive so the overdrive acts as the limiter.
First! 😆 Edit: I came for the guitar playing honestly. but listening to your gear reviews is also very nice "sounds good... right" Like that was so beautiful. but then you hit "Oh let me turn it on"... hahaa Awesome video! Honestly I laughed so hard when the ECG popped up on the screen Last edit: That was really fantastic to listen to! Between your playing and the overall review, I ended up getting my entire studio cleaned up :D
ALWAYS trust Bea's reviews. While I agree with many that he could make a smoked herring sound good, you know the gear is top notch when he just gets lost, speaks little and gurns. He's already writing new music by the time we all start thinking "Oooh shit, that sounds nice!". That's when I hit "Buy" anyway.
That first chord(?) at 7:50 reminded me of that one Limp Bizkit song "My Way", and next thing I knew I've spent like 2 hours listening to Limp Bizkit instrumentals and I've finally made my way back to finish this video and now the part at 10:09 has reminded me of Enya's song "Caribbean Blue."
Recently I was thinking of downgrading my Timeline to something more focused/smaller footprint and as soon as this popped up in my feed I was excited until I looked at the price. 💀
I think it is available already. Suhr stated that they’ve already sent to some dealers at the time of launch. I ordered one a week and a half ago with estimated deliver the coming week…
haha, the heartbeat bit! lol, your face mate.. quick question, this beast or strymon volante? im stuck as hell. love that this is analogue and midi, but the strymon seems to have so many features im still leaning that way. hmmm?
The into Delay sounds like the the same sound I use to get when I ran my delay though this pedal called Analogizer by electroharmonix I guess now you can get this sound out of one pedal this is pretty sick
Taking a hard look at this vs. the DM-101 vs. the Brig. I've caught the analog delay bug. The Brig sounds fantastic, but it's almost its own thing, doesn't do the really gnarly 'analog' degraded tone, but the tones it does do are beautiful in their own right and its light/small as a feather. I really love the screen and design choices of the Suhr Discovery and filter controls. Basically I'm debating if I'd prefer the sound of the DM-101 (which doesn't have filter controls, no screen, and is a larger footprint) over this, as otherwise this seems great. I don't think I'd used the stereo in my setup, as at most I go wet/dry.
The part at 19:20 where Rabea is demonstrating the expression pedal( where he calls for other developers to take inspiration) is getting into Tom Scholz of Boston fame. That PBS segment where he(Tom SCholz) demonstrates that crazy similar effect has yet to be truly replicated. And...Tom developed that in the "70's! Anyone who knows how to do that today please tell me!!!!!🙏
I've just received mine, plugged in a footswitch to cycle through pre sets and it does nothing. Any ideas/ help with this? Do I need to go into a menu so it knows its a momentary footwitch? Thank you!
Hahahah man, when watched this video I shit myself thinking “oh god the time has come” but it’s a weird tan line on my forehead, it’s gone now and I don’t look like I’m receding hahahaha
It is cool for sure, but it does nothing more than Pigtronix Echolution 2 which has more options and sounds equally as good and behaves like an analog pedal.
Killer sounds from Rabea as usual, killer functionality in there as well but dang that’s one ugly ass pedal. Spite my ears, I have to love the look of a pedal for it make it onto my board. Stupid, I know, but I like pretty things 💁🏼♀️
You have the best demo video I have seen on this Suhr Discovery, convince me enough to buy one! Can't wait to get it Monday! I had a Future Factory, but it wasn't my thing, just the digital thing, I guess. The Suhr pedal has everything I need and more, sounds incredible without getting in the way. Great video....
OK, good, I saw what I already knew about clean. Now please do a video with high gain. Show us how this delay react to the Soldano SLO gain at 8 on shred from hell. I use delay for soloing only. The best delay I have found for the SLO is the Recoil by Mojohand FX. A kind of Boss Dm-2. The Way Huge Echo Puss, witch sounds awesome on high gain, especially in the loop of any kind of Rectifier, doesn't work with the Soldano SLO. So I nee to know, is this Discovery delay is able to surf on giant heavy waves of metal ? And no strat please, keep the PRS, or your black LesPaul. Please ! Do it.
Really enjoyed this Demo (Great Unit) and Rabea you always explain things in Layman’s terms which makes thing’s easier to follow for tech idiots like me .. but what I’d really love to know is if you had to choose between this and the Strymon Volante which would you go for, I know it would probably be a tough one but would love you feedback 👍🏻🌞⭐️😉
I can't describe HOW MUCH nü metal vibes this is giving me, i mean, that pedal and a PRS, its just like in the early 00s. Thanks for this video Bea, you're a legend
Rebea great demo. However Digitech Time Bender is my favorite . Give it a try if you have a chance. Even it was in production a long time ago is far ahead. Cheers.
Hello Rabea, just wanted to say a humongous thank you for all your help from tips that you give via your channel.. you’ve helped me so much towards getting back to my guitar and rig👍🏾🙏🏾 DaraShayn Riley
This is an amazing pedal, the price is well kind of insane. However, j rockett has one that just came out nearly the same price but a fraction of the features. If I didn't have my Mr Echo from SIB that I bought in the 90's I would get this one. That Mr Echo just fits me perfect. It sounds just like real tape echo. IMO even better than this. It has just delay though .If you try to find one used they are also 500 sooo i did good, got mine for 85 dollars in 1994.
great review, thanks. I was soooo close to getting one of these, precisely because of the expression mapping and control. I hope in the future many other [delay] pedals will have this feature. (I got a delay llama extreme instead, incidentally, coz of it's 'playability')
I came across this video at the perfect time. I was just thinking about getting a CC deluxe because I'm tired of my digital delay and miss my CC but want the tap tempo. This is much more and smaller than the cc deluxe, finna break the bank tho.
Must have watched every single delay pedal review from this genius and I have to say the £600 price tag Suhr have put on this is ridiculous. I know not all guitarists are created equal but from the sheer number of delay pedals Rabea has reviewed for us we have a pretty constant barometer of what one is capable of and he 100% makes pedals 1/3 of this cost sound better.
"It's just an expression pedal bit, it can't be that creatively inspir-" 20:06 Little accidents when messing with a pedal are awesome. If you're into the oscillation thing, the earthquaker space echo is another I really dig for it. I love using it combined with feedback or EMF sounds through my pickups for backing layers. Great vid and playing, Rabea!
Bro your chord choices are so beautiful. And this pedal is magnificent but id probably go for an EHX tt-1100 just based off price. The clockwork that just came out is nice too and I'd like to see you check it out.
Rabea, I like how you made it clear that this is your opinion of this pedal based on your specific gear and your playing. Most pedals, can be made to sound good with specific gear...it takes a bit of patience and deep tweaking.
When you mentioned the expression pedal controlling any function being unique to this pedal, the Strymon El Capistan can do it as well. Just the primary functions mind, but any knob on the front can be controlled which is handy. Love that tape sound 👌 It's also near half the price with many secondary functions for toneshaping- bass/high cut, dB headroom etc. But then it's digital not analogue like this, so horses for courses I guess. Edit: My mistake, I should've watched the rest of the video! The El Cap can only control one parameter at a time with expression, rather than everything simultaneously like you can on this
