Suikoden Lore: The Known True Runes (part 2 of 2) FINALE 

I'm not sure about Yuber suppressing the rune's power. I mean the True Runes are supposed to be borderline demigods in the Suikoverse right? But the rest of that, well all of it really seems pretty plausible, it's an interesting and fun theory if nothing else. Which are always fun to read :)

I like this. Though perhaps Pesmerga and Yuber are two phases of the Eightfold rune. Seeing as it's based on the Buddhist concept, it may need to be that Pesmerga and Yuber need to battle to reveal the path. In my own speculation, Yuber vs Pesmerga was a future plot point to reveal that true rune to help the Tenkai of a future game.

I always suspected that Yuber and Pesmerga may have actually been the gods sword and shield. That Yuber was sword and the embodiment of chaos, and that pesmerga was Shield and is the embodiment of order. And that even though there battle left them broken, it did not destroy them entirely. In other words the two became physical manifestations of their sentient nature, and are locked in a eternal battle to dominate the other. This Eternal battles resolution being foreshadowed in suikoden 3 bye Luc's vision of order winning out

We've seen several theories along those lines before yes, whether not it's true though we really can't say.

It's the bond severing leaving two physical items that got us thinking that the Sun and Night runes were once a single rune, yours is the most eloquently and completely put, but we've gotten several people correcting us on that. Also too she was always after finding the sinder runes and she first appeared in suikoden 5 plus she’s still alive and technically her looks haven’t changed lol I also feel jeane and Vicki carry true runes?

That's fricking awesome. Not a theory we were familiar with, but one with a basis we can understand and appreciate, now we wanna see the unrevealed runes, lol.

It's a topic that was widely debated back when the Suikosource and SuikoX forums were still alive. So it definitely is something worth looking into. And yeah, same feeling. These runes aren't random... they have an esoteric representation of the world and that's why it's so fascinating.

They have to be physically linked because once the Night rune separated itself, there came the Dawn and Twilight rune.

@@magickgeminid2944 I think its more like they were tied together and then Night severed their bond because he's a jerk which left fragments (dawn and twilight) which were used to keep Sun company because it was lonely and crazy .

Aris Styawan Prayogi Suikoden 4 is first to manifest a war 100 years later Suikoden 5 Happened then After 26 years Suikoden 1, 3 years after Suikoden 2 started then 20 years Suikoden 3 began.

I know I might be really late (this comment is 5 years old as of writing this reply), but holy crap. 1) The sun and night runes are explicitly said to have been connected. The night rune breaking away from the sun rune is why the dawn and twilight runes exist. Something nobody seems to remember tho is that the night rune also sustained damage in the process, as there's a third unique rune: the star rune, which spawned from the night rune (unique runes are a fairly unexplained category of rune, but there's only 3 and they're all a result of these 2 true runes). So yes, they're separate true runes, but they aren't unrelated. 2) The rule regarding the true runes all granting eternal life is up for debate. The sovereign rune's status as a royal heirloom implies that it doesn't grant agelessness, or otherwise that the royal family is reeeaaally careful about not letting anyone get too old before passing it on to their kids. The rune of punishment is messy, since it drains your life in order to use its powers, and none of the user's we learn about have lived long enough to test it (as was said in part 1). And the aforementioned sun and night runes have their unique rune pieces, which don't seem to grant agelessness but I can't find hard data on that (the sun rune itself seems to, tho). And teleporting? Pics or it didn't happen 3) Not all cursed runes have been demonstrated to have an uncursed state. Soul Eater is never displayed to have anything resembling, say, the rune of punishment's forgiveness phase; the good end of S1 does show that it can restore the souls it takes to life, but only does this once (with no accompanying powers like the healing ability of the RoP, it's a cutscene effect). 4) While it is common for true runes to grant more powers to a character as they grow, this isn't universal. It's common enough that it should work, tho. 5) Viki and Jeane feel like missed potential, and yeah it seems like at least Jeane could've had a true rune. Viki is a maybe, I have many questions. 6) Suikoden 6 was cancelled, now we have Eiyuden Chronicles. Haven't played it yet, tho.

We like the information for the True Blinking Rune, that's cool thank you! In regards to Jeane, we know that she has some kind of magic that affects her visage. One of the games somewhere says animals can see through her illusion or something (it's been awhile, don't remember the exactitudes.)

@@TrueMastersandMorons Pretty sure that's referenced in Suikoden 2 or 3. But even with magic, she would be well over 100 years old. I don't think an illusion alone would explain that.

That's entirely possible, Yuber and/or Pesmerga being embodiments of one or more runes seems to be a common theory, and the idea that all of the runes are connected in some way, (in terms of polarization or otherwise) certainly makes sense considering the context of the rest of the runes. Obviously we can't say for certain whether you're right, but its an interesting idea for sure. We've found ourselves surprised again and again by how deeply other people have delved into these subjects.

Also I wanted to appoint that in one of the interviews with Murayama, he said aside of shui hu zhuan, The eternal champion by moorcock was another great inspiration. I really feel Pesmerga would be this ultimate champion in suiko world, his name his context, etc.

To the best of our research, most sources don't consider Stallion's rune a true rune, despite its being called the True Holy Rune, which is why we didn't include it in our list.

i think is misstranslation. The real name of stallion rune is called godspeed rune. This rune only allow player to run in world map and 100% escape rate.

True, but everything we found during research indicates that despite the name, the True Holy Rune isn't actually considered one of the true runes (There were one or two other runes with similar names and similar reasons for not being included, but it's been a long time, we don't remember the specifics.) But short version, we're aware of Stallions rune, but according to everything we could find no one seems to consider it an official True Rune, which is why we didn't include it on this list.

We'd certainly love to see any new game for sure, ya. More information on Hikusaak could be cool, though I think it'd be just as interesting to see him resurface, and just what kind of havoc that that could cause.

The broken bond part there is where we inferred the singular rune information from. Seems to be a arguable point amongst the fan base, that's how we found it presented though so that's what we went with. Outside of the related or once a single Rune question though, yes, all of the rest of that is undeniably correct as far as we know.

We don't specifically mention Pesmerga because as far as we could find, there is no concrete evidence that he has the rune, or technically has any relation to the eight fold rune at all. (Though many theorize there is a connection). That being said, the bigger reason we don't mention him is because the information on him doesn't add anything to information on the rune, so unfortunately he was skipped. Obviously he's connected to Yuber, we just don't have any real info on his connection to the rune.

We cross referenced lists from lots of places, and those lists are what we used to base these videos on, its possible someone somewhere confirmed the Holy Rune as a true Rune, but if that's the case we didn't find that information.

True Holy rune is a mistranslation. In Suikoden 5, they finally fixed the translation to godspeed rune. Stallion wasn't the only character that held the rune, it was also possesed by Cedric in S4 and Cathari in S5. As such, it's not even a unique rune, let alone a true rune.

It is one a true rune because it bared a child run the holy rune it has been confirmed remember a true rune can seek new host it seems fit

According to everything we could find, despite its name, the True Holy Rune isn't a True rune, or at least hasn't been canonically confirmed to be one, that's why it wasn't on the list. Stallion is great though, stupid fast elf is fun elf, lol, and as far as the sixth game, I mean, we'll take whatever focus if they ever made one. We've heard lot's of cool ideas from you and other commentors for the game's topic though.

Honestly, we can't 100% confirm that it is or isn't, but when we did the research for the video, every list cataloging the true runes included the EightFold Rune, which is why we included it. If we were wrong though, that's our bad.
