Complete OST both discs. Sit back and enjoy the relaxing sounds of Suikoden. Also check out the English patch for Suikogaiden available via the Suikogaiden Translation Project.
The music brought such a unique individuality to each and every town you visited. It really sold the multi-cultured setting you travel through in your recruiting campaign against the empire.

Not sure how I went 20+ years without playing this game, but just getting in to it now. Everything everyone has ever told me about this game is true. Super fucking awesome.
This OST is the best to ever do it! Fond memories of my mother knowing I was playing the game and asking me to go to specific towns so she could hear the themes while working at home.
Mikki Higashino is probably my favorite VGM composer. These songs and the one from Suikoden II just capture my imagination in a way almost no other soundtrack does.
Finished it about 9-10 times..still would close the door, darken the room and use the Weekend to fight against Kwanda and Co. Thank you for uploading this.
from @1:47:28 to the credits, and the bath theme is nicely refreshing after such dramatic music. Many RPGs encourage the users to sleep, save or eat but how many remind gamers to bathe? Ty Suikoden.
@@dracoerrarus4834 Nah, real friends that we played the game together and figured out secrets and recruited all 108 characters, no internet help back then.
roush26 Yes, I was teasing. I’ve never really had any friends that were into Suikoden. My mom and my brother played it, but they weren’t obsessed like me. This past year, I played through and narrated the whole thing while my daughter watched. She loved it and has been asking for us to play through Suikoden 2 now.
1 is good, 2 is better. Cleaned up a lot of stuff that was wrong with 1 in my opinion. War battles were better, side game was better and could be more creative with character builds. Having only 1 rune slot in suikoden 1 held it back a bit.
A straight comparison between 1 and 2 will always be unfair. That being said, the only things i disliked about 1 was the limited "screen time" for Barbarossa, Windy and Odessa. The latter was in the game for about 5 - 10 minutes of gameplay, despite being a major character and leaves the liberation army at the hands of Tir, of who'm she barely knew at that time. Barbarossa had 3 scenes in the game, despite being the main antagonist (and a very complex character himself).
Forgotten Day: Village of the Hidden Rune is, for me, the 3rd piece of the Triforce of holy video game music along with Corridors of Time and Shevat the Wind is Calling.
1:44:03 - Echoes of the changed past: When you leave the kaput Gregminster to the north and return immediately, you can hear the original theme (Beautiful Golden City). The one working trick/glitch i ever used with Suikoden I.
Thank you for sharing this magnificent OST by Hiroshi Tamawari/ Mayuko Kageshita/ Miki Higashino/Setsu Taniguchi/ Tappi Iwase. Suikoden 1 & 2 played one after each other is just a piece of Art.
i played this when i was 20 back then, but the ending was not all satisfying. I was sad that Gremio died. later i discovered there is an alternate ending, when you manage to collect all 108 Characters in the Game. This Way he comes back and lives, and i played it again using a walkthrough, printed on 20 pages. And it was awesome. so much work but so much fun at the same time. will always remember this as my favorite RPG.
Can't describe the feeling I get listening to this, it is one of the most rememberable soundtracks to a game I have ever heard. It's so emotional it matched so well with the game. Very well done with the art and everything like wow! Are you kidding me how did we get away from this. Masterpiece
Was listening to this awesome soundtrack once again and just noticed that 1:47:28 - Theme of Tension and the Luca Blight Battle Theme from Suikoden II sound VERY similar.
Ah this brings back old memories! You have no idea how bad I miss this game.. Still remains one of my favorite RPG series of all time! If only they continue the series....... :'(
Absolutely love this OST! Such a nostalgic trip back to the world of Suikoden. The music is so beautifully composed and really sets the tone for the game. Thank you for sharing this gem with us. Can't wait to listen to it while working or relaxing. 🎶✨
This music takes me back. Not just to adventuring with Theo McDohl or wtv, but also summertime at my grandparent's place, god rest their souls. Thanks for uploading this.
Such a great game, so many people say 2 or 3 is best, but imo the first one is the greatest :) At the time I liked mainly crpgs, not so much jrpgs, this game just blew me away though.
Such a fantastic soundtrack. Two of my favorites are the nostalgia bomb of Main Theme-Guitar Version, and the haunting Peaceful People. That song sounds straight out of Xenogears.
one problem I have with old school jrpgs are the random encounters and somewhat lack of direction. If I'm weak I have no problem with tackling random monsters but if I'm super strong and I need to be somewhere, it doesn't help how the encounter rates will basically slow my progress through a game. I admit have a hard time paying attention but it doesn't help when the jrpgs are a little vague when it comes to telling people where to go. Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest does that but no Suikoden, one of the townspeople will tell you where to go. "go to this town, its northeast of here, stay away from the caves cause a bunch of people went missing south of here"
BlackWeasel that makes people have to discover things by themselves (without walkthrough), just like irl where you want to go you have to ask/find it out yourself LOL
@@TheStrongWeasel Earthbound's mechanic of automatically defeating enemies who were much weaker than you is one of the many reasons it's held in such high regard. Someone actually said to themselve "If I were playing this game, fighting super-weak enemies would be annoying."
This was a decent game, I enjoyed it. Nice story. I just started playing Suikoden II now for the first time. Just beat the mist boss in Sparrow Pass or whatever.
These tunes only bring me sadness knowing that there will be no games like Suikoden 1 and 2 anymore. I'm hoping every day that there will be one like this from Konami before I die. Sad but true.
theme of sadness is very sad piece. I downloaded theme of sadness guitar version on my phone, but I always skip the song whenever it played, because listening to the piece really breaks my heart, like it really hurts. eventually I deleted the piece because I can't bear the feeling. I remember gremio's scene in scarletecia castle. I can feel all the emotion floating. loyalty, sacrifice, loss, love for someone you care for since they were children, and his words "this will be the first time I won't listen to you" or something like so, ughh my heart.... :'( :'(
Damn this ost is really standing out to me more than ever right now. Definitely top 3. Must be also noted that the music seems to be made completely from pure instruments and does not have a synthy sound. I love "video game" sounding music à la FF7 of course but this can be more in the same light of classical and even old cultural music. So many styles it's crazy
Sweet, sweet childhood ... this game is a part of me and form my personality. Great to hear the songs again. I have bove games but i ask myself; why i dont play them anymore? too many shity games poisoned my mind like Windy do it to Barbarossa Time to remember. Time to relife the childhood again. thank you
Bought both games - sadly got stuck on neclord a couple months ago - though i've beat him yesterday - so my adventure shall continue. (My suikoden series started with suikoden 2 when i was 5 years old, so yeah - i kinda got in the wrong way xD - when i bought the games over the psn though it imideatly came back that i never played part one - luckly i can now continue my adventure to the fields!)
+Donavan Lewis Same here actually. Then I found Suikoden 1 sealed for $15 at Babbages before they were bought by Gamestop. Same store also had a sealed copy of Breath of Fire 3 for the same price. I miss Babbages.
"Main Theme Arrange- Ensemble Version" is the best. It is so nostalgiac, like you are looking at photo albums of your days as a kid and reminiscing about all the stupid stuff you got up to and chuckling about it and missing the good ole days. Or you are drinking in a bar and sad that you bought a nintendo 64 and can't play Suikoden because nintendo made it a cartridge based machine instead of CDs and your friend bought the last copy and owns playstation.
